In defense of Sushi, there's literally an upgrade block on the same screen you get her on as well as two in the volcano right after you get the Ultra Stone. Getting her to Ultra Rank is no problem, and the first move she learns, Water Block, is helpful, as that's just a raw defense buff vs. a RNG-based evade buff from Flurrie or Lakilester. I see Goombella _came_ in at number 1.
That's fair, I play the games more offensively outside of using Outta Sight with Bow and Veil with Vivian so that's probably why I didn't find much value in Sushi
@@PowPowSmash So since I'm back here because of a comment: >Yoshi Kid's gameplay should go up to 9, MAYBE 10. His starting move is literally a mini Power Bounce for no FP at the cost of a hard cap of I think 4-6 hits based on Rank, and Stampede, which is already good just for being an AoE mini Power Bounce, is apparently bugged to be a screen nuke when it should only hit grounded enemies. >There's a weird anomaly with Outta Sight. I don't remember the specifics, but I think it let Mario get an extra turn because of the way it handles turn order stuff, something Veil doesn't do. Essentially, on top of being able to dodge dangerous moves (and in a game that doesn't have Superguarding), you can use Outta Sight to stack up Charges with Mario to do sillier damage than he can already do. >Very minor thing, but since Goombell's Tattle has an Action Command, it can trigger, and more importantly, break Bingos while not costing FP and not being an actual attack that could be blocked by something like spikes or fire.
ms. mowz's love slap ability is actually very useful: while it's comparatively weak on enemies with low defense, it comes in VERY handy for enemies with high defense. it ignores the enemy's defense stat and does the exact same amount of damage every time. quite handy for a move that takes 0 fp.
Goombella was always my favourite too, she had such awesome dialogue and made me want to tattle everything.. Plot-wise, she takes the logical aspects of Goombario and Kooper from PM64 (the archeology student should be the talkative smart one lol - Goombario was a kid who'd barely left his village). She's also the only partner who may have gone on the exact same journey by herself if Mario/Peach hadn't shown up, because she was the only one who thought the tale of the crystal stars had any merit, and that's pretty interesting. Most of the other partners join either because Mario is famous and they wanted to go on an adventure with him, or they intended to team up with him to help solve their chapter-specific problem and then decided to stick around a bit longer once it was complete. Goombella had an investment in the entire plot. She just lacked the map.

I actually found parakarry to be super useful. For just 3 fp you can attack any enemy you like, and nothing either than natural defense point will stop him. Origami King’s partners are literally the worst because they just follow you without doing anything. They are the most pointless characters of all time... aside for the professor, but he’s kinda boring in my opinion. He just digs up glowing spots, which is something I am sure Mario could’ve done it on his own if he got a shovel. Sure, most of them attack, but that’s almost never necessary because the battles are all meant to be beaten in one turn anyways.
I still found them more enjoyable to have around than the Pixls in Super because they at least had a personality in Origami King. Yeah I wish they did more in battle and when exploring the overworld but they were way more involved in the game's story than most of the partners in the earlier titles
Ehh, Bobby doesn't have a fuse (which is a big plot point) and Sushi is purple instead of the typical red for Cheep Cheeps. Unless I missed something in Sushi's design that sounds the same to me
@@PowPowSmash her eyes are are also different and her lips are longer than other cheep cheeps it's not much but it's more than a lack of a fuse which isent even a trait unique to Bobby as bob-omb buddy's lack a fuse and so does Bruce the blue bob-omb from paper mario with a crush on Bombette.
Yeah he's referred to as a he multiple times during the game iirc. I made the same mistake early on in Origami King because I still thought he was Kammy Koopa LOL
Another thing that should be mentioned regarding Yoshi Kid: His starting, 0FP cost attack is essentially a miniature Power Bounce/Multibonk. So he can do some solid cost effective damage with that move, especially if you amp him up with Badges, Power Lift, and that one item that makes you big. Good for if you want to conserve resources and not burn through your FP with Power Bounce into Multibonk or Double PB with the help of Rally Wink.
I would've loved to put him higher but the only category he scored points in is story/personality 😭 his design and how helpful he is in battle doesn't do him any favors
@@PowPowSmash I do defiantly agree with that. But I feel that there was a reason he was designed like that. Now I defiantly can’t argue and understand you reasoning lol.

Ohhhh the paint can, I didn't play Color Splash. I talked about at the beginning of the video that I was excluding travel companions like Olivia since they aren't used in battle
Since he's never used in battle he doesn't qualify as a partner in my eyes :( At that point there would be a lot more characters in the franchise on the table as "partners"
@@PowPowSmash well technically he is used in battle but you can only do it in that breif window between beating the origami sumo bros and entering bowsers castle, where at that point there would be no point in getting into another battle, so I understand why you didn't add him

Where is Bowser Jr?
Sushi deffinently has a more inspired design than Bobby
Ehh, Bobby doesn't have a fuse (which is a big plot point) and Sushi is purple instead of the typical red for Cheep Cheeps. Unless I missed something in Sushi's design that sounds the same to me
@@PowPowSmash her eyes are are also different and her lips are longer than other cheep cheeps it's not much but it's more than a lack of a fuse which isent even a trait unique to Bobby as bob-omb buddy's lack a fuse and so does Bruce the blue bob-omb from paper mario with a crush on Bombette.
Este tipo se ha olvidado (o era una broma para él ese juego) de Paper Mario Sticker Star y de tu acompañante de ese juego.
Where bowser jr?
And Timpani of Super Paper Mario :"?
bowser jr is #1 for origami king cus he does 50 damage
is that a rat kissing mario
There are a lot of girls that kiss Mario in the Paper Mario games, including a cloud and goomba
wait kamek is a BOY?!
Yeah he's referred to as a he multiple times during the game iirc. I made the same mistake early on in Origami King because I still thought he was Kammy Koopa LOL
@@PowPowSmash I always thought that kamek is a girl man I was stupid but do you blame I mean have ever seen a boy baby sitter
@@السراقالمجهول I was actually a babysitter for a while growing up hahaha
@@PowPowSmash dammit sorry for the awkward moment
@@السراقالمجهول you're totally fine bro 😂
Umm.. actually they are magickoopas. Kamek is one who is always with bowser jr 🤓
Good for if you want to conserve resources and not burn through your FP with Power Bounce into Multibonk or Double PB with the help of Rally Wink.
sushieIs the third most powerful partner in the old paper mario ame
Bobby needs to be higher lol
I would've loved to put him higher but the only category he scored points in is story/personality 😭 his design and how helpful he is in battle doesn't do him any favors
@@PowPowSmash
I do defiantly agree with that. But I feel that there was a reason he was designed like that. Now I defiantly can’t argue and understand you reasoning lol.
@@PowPowSmash
I would also like to say that Bobby for me would be at the top if I ranked only Origami king characters lol. Lol I literally cried when we’ll you know what happened.
Well he can't do explosion move to do AoE attack so it's appropriate to him, he did mention that he'd be only a hindrance to Mario when the first time you met him, him trying to do his best despite his uselessness make him a great partner to me!
where's peinturion
Who?
@@PowPowSmash you know the partner in paper mario color splash
Ohhhh the paint can, I didn't play Color Splash. I talked about at the beginning of the video that I was excluding travel companions like Olivia since they aren't used in battle
flurrie placed so low? immediately click off. dont disrespect the queen.
U never mentioned bowser jr tho
Since he's never used in battle he doesn't qualify as a partner in my eyes :(
At that point there would be a lot more characters in the franchise on the table as "partners"
@@PowPowSmash well technically he is used in battle but you can only do it in that breif window between beating the origami sumo bros and entering bowsers castle, where at that point there would be no point in getting into another battle, so I understand why you didn't add him
@@chickennoodlegamer915 wait you can??? I had no idea and now I'm sad that I didn't get to experience that 😭 but yeah for such a short period I don't think he was worth including though. But thank you so much for sharing that with me!!
@@PowPowSmash Technically, two of the three members of the canned food trio are also able to act in battle.
@@lamegamertime who's in the canned food trio besides kamek and jr lol
I've never heard of it
Actually Watt is a Sparky from Super Mario World ☝️🤓
Just wanna say. I’m running the 100-trials in TYD and Coops is my guy for his 3fp multi attack that till later floors can help breeze through upper levels. Love Coops. Plus those white shoes: 🤌🏼
Good luck in the Pit of 100 Trials trooper!
