90% of guest on talk show have prepared materials they wanted to talk beforehand. They even get pre-interviewed by the show's staff to make sure the host aware of the coming topics.
It's the host's job to make sure the conversation seems natural. That's why Conan O'Brien steered this conversation.
And this the 2004 Kevin Hart, who, at the time, was still and up-and-coming stand up comedian had jokes prepared, like most comics.

Honestly this is a weird comment. Alot of comedians come with prepared material or like use the same jokes from their stand up. Hell Chappelle used to do it all the time with Conan

and in term of improvisation, it's obvious Conan would did it more comfortably, because he was an improv. Kevin's background is stand up comedy, not improv. Both are comedy, but different approach.
