I started riding a bicycle again and by the end of the year I was taking my msf the next spring bought my first bike this summer has been the best summer of my life
I own the Z900 and love it. I wouldn't put it above the BMW or the superduke either, but the price comparison isn't even close. I got a great affordable bike for me.
Great review! The Z900 was my first bike with only parking lot experience on a Ninja 250 before that. I found it extremely easy to ride and very confidence inspiring. It definitely can be a beginner bike, as long as you respect it. It feels no different than something with half it's displacement if you treat it as such. I'm happy i didnt go with a 400 or 650 honestly, but being a more mature rider - i can definitely see how it could get someone younger and less experienced into some big trouble.
Thank you! And, I 💯 agree with more mature riders being able to handle a larger first bike than younger/aggressive riders. Also, I think any bike with ride modes helps to balance out a bike with an engine this big. Then it boils down to dimensions (weight, seat height, etc).
@@thatoneguymoto I was going for the Z650 at first, but found there was less than a $1000 difference and the z900 in rain mode puts it at an identical power level. So happy i started with the 900 instead. It's an outstanding bike for the price!
I'm with you. I think the Z900 is super sharp. Haven't ridden the MT, but tried the last iteration of the FZ-09 before they switched, and this did seem smoother than that.
I rode one just this weekend at the same event but in PA. (Probably the same bike, too.) These shows are not bad if you like to ride lots of different bikes, but arrive early and have a priority becuase they fill up fast. This Z900 is smooth as butter for me. Too good of a value to pass up. And really, I can't see myself riding a fancy bike from Europe.
This bike is pretty "fancy" in it's own right. Love the styling of the Z900. And, yes, if you want to ride a specific bike, you absolutely have to be early (with exception of Harley and Indian who do unguided demos).
The new 2022 model has a higher seat height now (32.3"/820mm) which is a tad high for me with also a 30" inseam and I'm only 5,4". Anyway bought the new 2022 yesterday.
I agree Z900 is one of the more stable bikes that are no racebike with steeringdamper. It holds lines very good, and is very confidence inspiring. Only BMW bikes with telelever feels more planted then this.
Drove 4 states and one time zone to pick up my 2022 z900 se. S.e. because I wanted the green. Once I got the bike home unloaded it and rode it 31 miles and that Dunlop sportmax blew. The abs saved my ass.
I currently own a Ninja 650 and the seat height is the same as the Z900. I bought that Z900 last weekend as I wanted more power and more cylinders to reduce engine vibration. The posture felt even better than the Ninja but is basically the same. As is the weight of the Ninja 650. It's going to be a long winter waiting for it to be taken out of storage. (Currently snowing outside)
I rode this exact bike in Chicago. Would basically say that for the price it's very hard to beat the performance and power you're getting. Just a really well balanced bike for cheap. Is the handling or transmission as good as more premium bikes? No, but the difference is so little that when you can get used ones for 5-7k it's not even a close decision as to what to buy if you're on a budget
This is absolutely a great bike for the price. I'd even say, you're getting more than you pay for, especially if you buy preowned. Thanks for watching! ✌🏽
All together the bike was smooth. The vibration I was referring to, was up against the tank. So far, most of the people I've talked to agree it was probably just the demo model I was riding that was the issue.

I love the look of the Kawasaki and love the riding position and naked sport bike aspect - that's why I am not looking at a Ninja. The other big factor is that the Z900 is $3000 less expensive, even though the Ducati has 12k miles on it. Any feedback would be appreciated! I want something sportier than my Ducati Scrambler 800 - which I love, but I would love something just "that much more fun." Thank you!
Value and reliability wise, you'd be happy with the Z900. The Ducati has the appeal but in the end if it's worth it to you and you can afford it, do what makes you happy.
Regarding the seating position, are you actually getting pushed into the tank? I know a lot of naked bikes have seats that are angled forward that make you slide into the tank constantly.
I've ridden some bike that pushed you forward towards the tank, but didn't feel like this was the case with the Z900. I tried sliding back a bit to see if that made a difference, but still no. Enough Z900 owners have chimed in, that I think it was just the bike I rode.

I suppose riding with a passenger would be out, at least long distance.
@@korazon3spinado For long distances, for sure not going to be comfortable for a passenger. ✌🏽
This is a naked bike dude but you can used it for long drive even it is a 24hours drive... i feel great and honor to have i bike like this
With so much power it seems like if it was comfortable enough it could be used for touring

Might as well say girls will love this bike :)).....for it's vibes.....
Mine with Michelin Road 5 doesn't seem to vibrate at any rpm's in a manner that can tire you
Ha ha, yeah, I can't speak for the ladies, but it definitely had me scooting back in the seat. 😂
Would you recommend this for starter bike?
It's hard to say without knowing a rider's experience or skill level. I do mention in the video, though, that it's likely more of a second bike than something a new rider would want to start out on, so take what you will from that. Ride safe.
