Skid Steer Auger On A Tractor?

- In this video, I demonstrate how to connect a skid-steer auger to a tractor. Despite potential challenges with the tractor’s hydraulic flow rate, I successfully made it work by using an adapter to convert pioneer connections to flat-face connections. The auger spins at a much slower rate however it still does the job. Watch as I guide you through the step-by-step process, share some useful tips, and show the auger in action. Whether you’re looking to expand your tractor’s capabilities or just curious about the setup, this video will provide you with all the information you need. Awesome video Mike. I've always wanted to try a set up like this on my JD-5055. I think you've convinced me it's worth trying! Best, -- J. Andre. / Old Iron Acres
Thanks pal! I drilled 19 holes with it. It worked great!
Now that is very cool!! I have wondered about this very adaptation! A few questions come to mind. 🤔 Is your tractor similar in size to a Kubota L series or a JD 2,3,4 series? What is the rated hydraulic gpm (not including the power steering pump) of your tractor?
Thanks for posting this!
Thanks! I thought so too. It is compared to the Kubota L 3901, JD 3 series. My pump output is 8.3 gpm.
Great work on this one!
Thanks a lot!!
Obviously not the best tool for the job but hey in a pinch, why not. Good vid.
Thanks! I’ll be drilling 20 + holes tomorrow. That should be the test. I’ll likely do a video on it. Thanks for watching!
You got a camera man/woman now??!! Big time! Good video, Mike.
Haha! I recruited my son! He did good! Thanks!!
Beats a digging iron and a set of manual post hole diggers!
You got that right!
"its not supposed to go on a tractor" literally connects directly to the tractor.
Haha! Just because it will connect doesn’t mean it’s what it was designed for.
Messick's has a video on them.
@@bradjenkins932 the only one I could find of his was one that was made for a tractor specifically. The one I am using is a true skid steer auger.
Good video. Thanks. What is the hydraulic flow rate of the tractor? What about the GPM spec for the auger?
Thanks! The pump on my tractor has 8.2 gpm. I’ll see if I can find out what the skid steer auger is. Most skid steer augers have a minimum flow rate of around 10 gpm.
Love trying new things, right tool for the job is always the way to go. This ain’t it.
I’ll be drilling 20+ holes tomorrow. I’ll let you know if I agree with you.
@@TripleTAcres I hope it works well for you! Seems like all the time lapse says you’ll be at it for awhile. But again, I’m just watching a RUclips video, you are doing it for real so I’ll defer to your opinion. Hope to hear a follow up. If it really works well I may grab one (got a few hundred holes to drill)
Will do. I tested it on the worst case scenario ground. It was like concrete and drought conditions.
