I was there. 15years passed. And now i know nobody can play like it. Specially The first and last song, even Kurt himself 😅 The best period of himself.
This is a great lesson and you are a great teacher! It’s great to find someone teaching concise lessons with useful material on RUclips. Refreshing in a world of so much click bait these days. I’ll definitely be looking into your website courses. Thanks!
i notice he sings what he plays. that helps with playing just IMMEASURABLY, but i would add that dancing also adds a lot, too, even on the piano (i have a digital piano and have it set so i can stand when i play
kurt in a very amazing shape and what a trio full of interplay, wonderful, can someone tell me the title of the first standard? i know it's very famous but i can't figure out what the title is please :)
three and sometimes two per string, when he is playing a diatonic scale in one position. Example of his ionian major scale in A fingering in first position from low to high E: (4) 5 7 4 5 7 4 6 7 4 6 7 5 7 4 5 (7)
this tone is easy to come by with a cheap oscillating fan. Plop it right down in front of the speaker. Get a 3-speed and rotating head for more versatility.
Kurt is a great player, for sure, but it is interesting that he talks about exercises a lot. And for me, actually, his playing, though impressive, ioften feels mechanical. But it's just me.
Nope, lots of people feel like this. He’s great and there’s much to learn from his playing, but beyond the harmonic complexity of his lines is a certain lack of emotion that is hard to ignore. He also peaks too early in his solos, robbing them of a storytelling quality that the great ones all shared
All but one of the songs are jazz standards from the 50s or earlier, his playing on them is pretty straight-ahead and the only original is a pretty traditional-sounding ballad. Did you comment on the right video?
Wow a pre hat wearing Rosenwinkel set, incredible!

How many notes per string does he play on the scales ?
Hard to say man, it's all improvised, sometimes it comes in various ways. But i think a 3 note per string is a standard in his playing

Nice hearing the true guitar sounds and not the guitar triggering the synth.

So this is what Ted Greene would have done had he toured with a band focusing on single-like improv not of strict baroque style

Well, I’ll hand it to him for avoiding “licks” and “tunes.” There’s a lot of Ornette there. At the same time, it’s not my idea of a good time.

What year is this from?
Jochen Rueckert (the drummer playing here) commented that he believes this was 2006.
