Having been stuck playing alone in my garage for the past couple years due to the pandemic… this was so inspiring to get back out there and find some players to jam with again
Damn thanks for uploading this, I’m really happy I got to ask Kurt that question. And to see really good footage like this is incredible. I appreciate this. Cool I got a shout out haha
Thanks for posting (and for the timestamps), you had a much better view than my buddy and I did! Totally worth getting soaked in the rain for a bit with how sweet the shows were Sunday
Well, that was part of the point (not a masterclass). It's a mix of guitar nerds like us and music fans who may not know much about guitar. The question from the lady who plays acoustic was a good one, and Mark's rundown was great.
This is what public masterclasses always turn into. I wish they all began with an announcement like "Please limit questions to those that can't easily be answered with a single Google search."
@@TarikAbouzied Again, this was never presented as a Masterclass. Some of these same guys have done actual masterclasses, and they are structured, directed at players, with students having guitars in hand. Kurt Rosenwinkle has done some excellent ones; there are. numerous YT videos recycling content from those. And be sure to check out Mark's classes. Both the JamPlay one and the recent one on Brett Papa's channel are superb.
The way Isaiah shook his head when Mark said they would take his guitar away when he didn’t do his hw was so funny he felt that shit like yea me too fam 😭😂
Was there, this was a lot of fun. But, correction, this was not a masterclass, it was a workshop aimed at both guitar nerds and general music lovers. Bob Reynold's workshop was also fantastic (I don't play sax).
@@ChaseMaddoxMy source (besides actually being there): I was lucky enough to sit next to Mark Lettieri on the flight from Dallas to Miami. I did my best to not fanboy him to death, but did ask what the "workshops" were about (that's what they are called). he said it was just an informal Q&A with people asking random questions - which is what it was. Yes, Q&A to masters, but nothing like a real masterclass. But who cares? It was fun!
Lol exactly, who cares? Workshop and masterclass are used interchangeably, and "masterclass" is a better word choice for the RUclips title. Thanks for checking it out 🤘
All these dudes wow. All down to earth yet not even from earth! I can relate in certain ways, but I’m a drummer, so these guys make it all happen. They are painters, I’m the road along with the bass player(s) and I’m happy to let any players like this drive us and together hopefully we stay in the pocket and also drive directly off the cliff of musical madness. Such interesting guys and players it’s great to hear their personality’s compliment their playing or see a bit more into their inner musical minds.
Mark Lettieri and Chris McQueen are from Snarky Puppy. Isiah Sharkey is a legendary Neo-Soul/Gospel player but plays everything. Kurt Rosenwinkel is a legendary Jazz guitarist famous for his improvisational skills.
Where are all the technical questions like triads, scales, arpeggios, substitutions or practice routines? All of these questions doesn't really help improve your playing to be honest.. (At least in my opinion) Don't get me wrong, I have learn so much from these Masters in the past and still this day and will continuing to learn from them. p.s. I really love all these Masters and appreciate all of their works but these questions are just doesn't really help about the playing..
Kurt is magic
Sharkey, and Letteri are my two favorites to listen to for sure.

Awesome! Love to hear that! 🤘
Wish I knew this was happening!! Will there be another one soon??

You should make a video about those warmups! Thanks for filming!
You read my mind! 😄👌
Many thanks for sharing this insightful session!
This was so fun to wake up to, thank you🥰🎶🐣
Glad you enjoyed it Hannah! 🤘

Wow! 4 of the greatest guitarists of our time and not one guitarist in the audience
Lol! There were a few but they didn’t ask any questions 🤷🏻♂️
Awesome masterclass 🤟
Thanks ✌️
Thank you!
You're welcome Moi!

Glad you enjoyed it! Haha yes it was 🤘
10:48 i play this part like million times
very cool approach from sharkey about your own voice: the things you take from the music you love is your personality coming through, get after it !
Absolutely! A great insight 👌
Such fellas ...

Thanks so much for sharing this!
My pleasure! If you dig this you’ll probably enjoy the playlist of Mark Lettieri’s set 🤘
@@ChaseMaddox had not seen those videos yet. wow thanks even more
Dropping a few more new ones every Tuesday morning 🤘
These 4 on stage and someone asks what a pickup is…
Exactly. You should've seen my face when the lady asked them the difference between an electric and acoustic guitar 🤦♂️

NIce to see Carlos Sainz plays guitar in between race weekends
KR sure knows how to use the full fretboard ❤️🔥
Among other things 😄
The way Isaiah shook his head when Mark said they would take his guitar away when he didn’t do his hw was so funny he felt that shit like yea me too fam 😭😂
Haha those little moments are the best
great, thanks. Two hundred dollar guitar..... "we listen" ❤
You’re welcome 🙏
GroundUp! I was sitting in the grass with my wife during this. Would of been cool to have Nir Felder and Rick Lollar as well. Blessings
Awesome! Definitely would’ve been great to have them join. I didn’t realize Rick Lollar was around as well that weekend.
@@ChaseMaddox ya he had a great set with Jamison Ross. Thanks for sharing Chase!
From 4:25 The entire Q&A is hilarious!🤣
i remember seeing the adds for that hiram bullock guitar and wanting one
30:25 lol I love Mark
wow
Isaiah has so much pocket when he’s playing.
💯
“Being true to your heart, and your ears or something” too funny
Kurt Says He Exercises Every Day
Many Scales

4 Guitar masters + teaching = master class

Anyone know what guitar Kurt is playing? Anyways, nice vid.
Doesn't he say in this video?
@@ChaseMaddox When? I must have missed it.
I believe it's a Moffa
Not sure, just remember him explaining what guitar it is. Probably around when Sharkey explains what guitar he’s using.
Moffa
How do I listen to these guitarist what band/bands?
Mark Lettieri and Chris McQueen are from Snarky Puppy. Isiah Sharkey is a legendary Neo-Soul/Gospel player but plays everything. Kurt Rosenwinkel is a legendary Jazz guitarist famous for his improvisational skills.
Just pull their names on what ever you listen to music on.
I love mansplaining about guitars :) Thanks for this super funny and interesting Masterclass.
Lmao of course Kurt is from Oak Park 😂
You could see it in Sharkeys face lollll

Guitarist are so fucking awkward around each other
Lol 😂
Good show but I wish the guy on the right wasn’t there to be honest.
Why?
I don’t see any masters

lmao
as long as you can hear them everything's fine :D
have another listen, Kurt is next level Jazz
Educate yourself then, these guys are modern days guitar heroes each in their genre.
Wow! Excited to watch this, thank you!
Have fun! 🙌
Sharkeys warmup literally blew everyone’s mind
It really did 😄
Jam at the end was wow!

Sharkey is funny and can play
