Nathaniel Albers ok first: I was gonna say that. It's actually why I came to the comment section in the first place. Second: my name is Nathaniel also. Third: Sons of Liberty was the best! Cheers 😅😅😅
I once witness a very rare event in my life time...it was Dillinger, Candiria and Messhugah at a like 15 dollar show in Coney island high an old school venue in New York City. oh and one more thing! i recorded the show on audio cassette.
This takes me back years... It was Provinssirock 04 in Finland that I got to see both Meshuggah and Dillinger on the same day! Both gigs were absolutely insane, no phones, people just going bonkers. Happy times!
I want my music to sound like the guys playing FUCKING LOVE what they're doing. Not just enjoy it, be fulfilled by it... FUCKING LOVE IT! If you do that, it shows and that's the only art worth making. Like they say in the video, "we're not fans of fans". That's the right attitude. You do you and people would flock around you and we'll all have a good ol time together.
Exactly never do what the fans want you to do because you would be writing for them and not for both bands are fucking awesome and the integrity they have shown over the years are unmatched
man dillinger was so awesome with this line-up. they're still good, but they've never been the same without chris pennie. i got to see meshuggah on their "nothing" tour, but in my area they played with strapping young lad, back when devin townsend still had hair lol. seeing meshuggah and DEP at one show would be the best though.
I always felt like Dillinger are the masters of Mania, and Meshuggah the masters of dementia. I personally like Dillinger more because I fall more under the Mania, but I can definitely appreciate Meshuggah and listen to them now and then.
@phreestylesk8r I've actually seen them both at the same concert about 3 years ago in the Netherlands. Dillinger Escape Plan was actually the supporting band at the Meshuggah tour back then. It was AWESOME.
I was there! Was the venue called the 013, or something? Meshuggah had cancelled a couple of times here in Scotland so a couple of friends and I drove to Holland to go see them. The sound in that venue was so good you could have been listening to the CD.
Corrected myself in the other comment. Trust me I recommend Meshuggah to all of my music majors friends. And it is well known people who transcribe Meshuggah's music have difficulty getting the correct tabulature. Their music is NOT in anyway easy. But if you break down their phases and feel the pulse, the hand patterns become second nature.
@@benmunckhof-swain1341 yeah i'm sick of seeing people shit on the vocals for being too processed on re-nothing when on the original they sound like they slapped a raw vocal track on a pre mixed instrumental
@Djroshi01 I did. It's just from an interview featuring the guitarist they themselves said that they don't think of time structures, most of their writing is always in 4/4 with the feeling of 1 pushed around every so often. This is reinforced by Haake's constant right hand cymbal work. So yes, in reality I messed up.
@sunited16 They've explained that their songs are structured in 4/4 correct? However as you said tracks like Dancers To A Discordant System is one of many examples that they break that rule.
they almost allways play it at the end of each show just because its fucking crazy live. I think that they like to play it alot more than bleed however.
yeah but wasnt he saying that in reference to why people dont like the dillinger escape plan? i dont think he was saying what dillinger is do is too much, just that for some people it is and thats why they dont like them
Meshuggah and The Dillinger Escape Plan in the same video, and Jens is wearing a Tool hoodie.
Am I in Heaven??
Theres a vid where fredrik is also wearing a Tool hoodie something aint right
@@rustyshackleford9452 Its 100% all right.

Think this is from 2005 or so.
You know your band is really fucking insane, when even the vocalist of Meshuggah calls your band "fucking insane".
I once witness a very rare event in my life time...it was Dillinger, Candiria and Messhugah at a like 15 dollar show in Coney island high an old school venue in New York City. oh and one more thing! i recorded the show on audio cassette.
Master Vader Carley coma, dimitri, and jens in the same building?
.......is the building still rubble?
Candiria used to be my absolute favorite band.
I have a picture of me, Carley coma, and John lamachia just hanging out in Philly in 2004.
Definitely no push moshing at that show lol
Need that tape. Wow. Jealous b
This video got me into both bands. Thank you, Swedish national television.
this was national television? i wanna move to sweden now
@@very_not_emo It was but unfortunately i don't think theres cool stuff like this on there anymore
Very king crimson inspired guitar riffs going on the second track of Dillinger escape plan, real cool.
"Your band is fucking insane"
I love Jens.
I loved Jens' reaction whilst saying "Your band is fucking insane"
The diversity in the metal community is so fucking beautiful. Is there any other music genre that has this level of diversity.
i saw meshuggah with btbam last summer. if they toured with dillinger my mind would explode.
damn, now that dillinger are breaking up, I would give a lot for them to do a farewell tour with meshuggah, while they promote their new album
More Meshuggah footage from Nothing Tour would be so freaking awesome.
This takes me back years... It was Provinssirock 04 in Finland that I got to see both Meshuggah and Dillinger on the same day! Both gigs were absolutely insane, no phones, people just going bonkers. Happy times!
Man these 2 bands ❤️
Both of these bands are my favorites!!

AEnima AEnima That's a rather handsome Walrus in your profile pic.
It's interesting coming across a video you saw when it first was uploaded and then coming across it 11 years later.
That's one of my favorites things about them - it's in 4/4 the entire time but sounds like a completely different time signature.
man the guy from dillinger defined meshuggah perfectly!
man dillinger was so awesome with this line-up. they're still good, but they've never been the same without chris pennie. i got to see meshuggah on their "nothing" tour, but in my area they played with strapping young lad, back when devin townsend still had hair lol. seeing meshuggah and DEP at one show would be the best though.
jens kidman wearing a tool hoodie now i can finally die in peace
i love how been looks kinda intimidated by jens, and doesnt make eye contact etc. i would be too, though.
They sure locked eyes at 1:36 lol

I've been looking for this for so long
Chris Pennie rocking a further seems forever t-shirt. That's awesome.
No matter who Meshuggah "tours" with or whatever, They will up-stage anyone.
Meshuggah and DEP in the same video? Fangasm...
Saw Meshuggah at Roskilde Festival years ago. So funny to see all these metalheads in the front row trying to headbang in time with the music.
Sounds he like screams "Metallicaaa!!!! Was right!!!!" Starting at 4:27
Jonah Kanavel "new intelligence arise?"
Idk just cuz I know the lyrics, I don't hear it, but I can see how you could hear that unsuspectingly.
i don't hear it...
Jonah Kanavel haha yeah
what a cool hoodie ;)
When frontman of a band called "CRAZY" says your band is fucking INSANE you know something is wrong..
Tomas Haake Bass Drums Sounds Like Cannons!!!
i always thought vinnie paul's bass drums sounded like cannons when he played live with pantera, but haake's are definitely up there.
1:35 sums up Dillinger perfectly
In 2006, I watched this all the time.
I think that's a valid point about the changing of time signatures. It was hard for me to get into Meshuggah at first.
I think he was talking about DEP
Jans Is wearing a tool hoodie, awesome !
Cool interview! I also noticed DEP's vocalist sounds identical to Jens' older vocal style from the None/DEI/Chaosphere era.
Ben was being all theoretical about it and Jens just said it in a nutshell.

orange nothing > blue nothing
Akiachrounoumena
Agreed
agreed, except for the vocals. The way they are more blended in the mix on RE nothing makes the album sound slightly more otherworldly to me

Tool shirt! Fuck yeah! These people are so fucking great! I love musicians!
I scrolled to see someone mention the tool t-shirt. Gonna see Meshuggah tomorrow.
i love jens' hoodie
1:34 The only description you need for Dillinger.
Tool shirt hahaha
Dhieen naturally
Shuggah used to tour with Tool
What a fucking treasure!!! Thank you

@antopolus Thanks for taking time to comment.
I think the bridge of "43% Burnt" is 29/16 time in musical meter. I might need to recalculate. XD
They should collab
My boys meshuggah!
@sunited16 They've explained that their songs are structured in 4/4 correct? However as you said tracks like Dancers To A Discordant System is one of many examples that they break that rule.

Really? Thats a pretty spot on observation to me. Meshuggah & Tdep do that so he could've been talking about either band.
3:05 to 3:30 sounds like Fracture by King Crimson.
its weird how greg puciatos hair is so neat his performance
i was there ,. wooho
@rololoo: it's not about music theory, it's about having an open mind
@oldlampsfornew I meant more in his demeanor
Didn't know that Adam Sandler played for DEP in 2004! Pretty Dope!

Really baaaaad dude
Youre not welcome to party
Ben from dep looks like adam sandler
Älskar Umebor!

I like how Ben's being all anal about it and Jens kicks it the best way possible!
This was in national swedish television - but what year? looks like mid 00s?

two fucking awesome bands.
should have talked to james spence too.

funny ass interview
Anyone notice that he is wearing a Tool hoodie? That made me laugh...
Is that patton singing at 2 minutes? I cant tell
Indeed they just make it sound like it isn't xD
@ryonafan yea

@777operations Dude that is just a polymeter. Meshuggah do polymeters like those a fair bit. It's not a balant rip off
What was the first meshuggah song?

Jajaja!!! hell yeah!!
i think theyre talking about fans at shows no? and if so they wouldnt be calling their fans stupid
So many time signature changes it sends Bill Cosby into a Seizure.

@AshleighRiot 6month old comment... No thumbs up. You lose
@Djroshi01 you kinda just contradicted yourself. Just calling it like i see it
@berserk2012xxx not djent...MATH
no, he's talking about the average person on the street.
@xqoid17zcsh Meshuggah is always in 4/4.
Well, either that or it's 30/16 time; sounds like that in its 8-bit counterpart:
