No one wants to know I bet, but here's the origin of root(ing): It starts out with Android's two older brothers: Linux and UNIX. These had 3 user types: *Standard*, who could not do much other than use programs without an admin password. *Administrator*, who could do **_most_** stuff on the PC. *Then there was root.* _The_ root user has full and complete access to the system. Rooting your phone elevates you to the powers of this root user. Non-rooted phones are like administrator.
I've rooted my phone at least twice. The first time I rooted my phone, I was so excited to use all these new apps and mess around with this new found administrative power. I got carried away and installed an app that changes the resolution of your screen. I accidentally made the resolution too small, essentially my phone's resolution was so small that it bugged the UI. and I couldn't use the touch screen. The moral of the story is this; rooting is safe if done correctly but don't get carried away and install apps that can potentially brick your phone. Anything that correlates to the phone's default UI or binary system, like the screen resolution, etc. etc. should only be experimented with if you're 100% sure of what you're doing. Since every phone is different, if you brick it, every method will probably be different and I'm sure no one wants the hassle. Thankfully I was able to unbrick my phone with a few easy steps. So once again, only install apps that don't affect your phone if you potentially do something wrong. Respect, KV
When i was rooting my phone i thought kingroot was safe but, when it got on 19% on king root, it turned my phone off. I kept holding the power button. But i was smart to take the battery out and put it back in. And guest what? It works! So if u guys run in to a problem like this. Then i suggest reading this comment i made. Btw good vid

I am doing research to find all perspectives to justify rooting my phone. It is an old Razr Maxx, build date Nov. 21, 2013, so the warranty is not an issue. If I break it, I have a older back up. What I am most interested in, is getting rid of the bloatware, and that's it really. I think it cuts down tremendously on the phone's full potential. My questions are: 1: do I need to remove the SIM card before rooting and before unlocking it? (I do know the difference now between rooting and unlocking). I am using a current SIM card in it, because my S5 got fried in the rain the other day (and I STILL owe $220 on it!!). 2: After getting rid of the bloatware, can I or should I unroot it? if so, why or why not? 3: What about updates? Does it need to be rooted or unrooted for the updates? SHOULD I update it? & Does it need to be Locked for the updates? Thanks a bunch!
