      Yeah I'm on both sides too. lol.
      But trust me, rooting isn't worth it. In 2016 I rooted my phone because my phone came with a lot of preloaded apps and I wanted to remove them and clear my phone's memory a bit. And rooting also allowed me to do a lot. I had access to many rooted apps, customizations, battery saving, optimizations and many things! But also messed up my phone like a hundred times. Sometimes I deleted my system files without even knowing, stuck on bootloop. Then another time my Google playstore detected rooted phone and stopped downloading of all apps! My phone actually got even slower performance wise after rooting. :(
      It might be an unpopular opinion but I think that using your phone as it is - is better than messing it up. In 2021 your phone has enough memory, enough cpu speed to handle some bloatware apps and even some phone doesn't even have any bloatware like OnePlus. So don't root.

      @@sheikhabdullah873 That's fine but what if I want to change the rom or get the latest android because sooner or later phones stop getting updated. It's better to have that option of being able to root especially when phones get outdated and stop getting updates. Especially now that phones have better hardware which should last longer with better and optimised software if the manufacturer supported it like Apple.

      4:27.
      That's where you're wrong.
      Not many people know that rooting should only be installed using magisk. Many still use kingroot,Cfroot and Super Su which are malwares and very vulnerable to threat.
      Also, installing apps that requires root access is also threatening because you will never know what sort of mods they can do to your system, which is where the virus kicks in.
      Custom Roms have antivirus? I've been using a lot of roms . Which one are you specifying?
      5:12 most of the Tweaks and modules are just a bunch of nonsense scripts .
      There are reasons why the magisk repo doesnt have all these tweaks.

    For people thinking about rooting their phone there are a few things to keep in mind. Firstly is that Magisk hide let's you hide the fact you're rooted from apps that can detect this, and you can have the app repackage itself under a different name to get around the increasing number of apps that check to see if you have Magisk installed.
    However, if you root you lose WideVine CDM L1 which, amongst probably other things, prevents you from watching Netflix in HD. As far as I know once it's lost there's no way of getting this back. Secondly, and probably more importantly, John Wu (creator of Magisk) has said a few times that with the way Android is changing SafetyNet to be even more secure, he believes that in the near future it will be *impossible* to get around tripping SafetyNet is you're rooted. So there will be no possible way of using apps that rely on not being rooted, such as google pay, banking apps and various other apps. Unfortunately, restoring safetynet isn't always as easy as just unrooting, from my experience once you've rooted you have no choice but to stay rooted if you want to use apps that rely on SafetyNet.
    If people know of solutions to these issues that I don't then please let me know :) I love rooting but haven't rooted by new phone for these reasons

    Root managers like Magisk's entire purpose to prevent unnecessary Root access. You will never get your system infected with a root app if you never give it root permissions. Root is absolutely safe as long as you handle root access yourself.
    Also, is the performance thing even worth a mention? It rarely happens and even if it does, it's barely noticeable.

    About the problems with magisk and google pay, there are some workarounds that actually work. It starts becoming a not so easy thing if we talk about Xposed. Do you guys know a way to use both Xposed and Google Pay? (if you are wondering why I need xposed in 2021: I hate the album art appearing as a wallpaper in my lockscreen, the only way I know to disable this "feature" is by using an xposed module; so I would be grateful if someone could tell me another way to keep my personal wallpaper when playing music)

    The only reason for me to root my j7 was the fact that i can change system sounds with my own,like low battery,system intro and outro etc,the rest was totally fine with emulators for example.Can it cause battery break with root? because my battery is kinda dying,it does charge but even if it is connected it starts to drain it like it isnt connected even if it is.

    Hi @Sam. Is it possible to root the Android temporarily, just to install system certificate, and unroot while keeping this cert installed afterwards? The use case is to enable HTTPS filtering for adblocking on apps that do not trust user certificates.

    • @erickshunn8498
      @erickshunn8498 2 года назад

      It just depends if there is a custom ROM for your device that's getting updates. Look on XDA and see if there are any custom roms you like that are compatible with your device. If your phone isn't getting updates from the manufacturer anymore then this is the next best thing to keep getting more features and security updates.

    I've never personally met a single person who has a rooted device. I can see the benefit if you plan to use the device long term and you want the custom ROMs. It just seems like a lot of work though when there's always cool new devices coming out.

    • @Slayer8957
      @Slayer8957 2 года назад +5

      Custom roms are best on smartphones that lapsed on software updates. When the latest android is no longer supported by the manufacturer, then you can extend the lifespan by simply flashing a custom rom based on the latest android.

      @@Slayer8957 maybe you could ( would) answer a question I have. I've got an old Samsung 7s Edge that I haven't had activated in a long time and I thought I'd use that to root ( I've no experience with rooting) as it doesn't matter to me if I inadvertently do something dumb ( good possibility) and really screw it up. I have other old phones I could use or ones I just don't use any longer but I'm thinking that, if I "root" successfully ( well I don't plan on failing!) then I will have done so on a phone I used to appreciate instead of a "junker". Is my thinking screwy in this regard? Your input would be appreciated, thank you.

      Rooting a samsung stock OS is risky as samsung has a security built into it called knox. If you want better root etc, I would stay out of samsung devices and plus samsung is starting to remove oem unlock option as they want everyone to stop rooting and use their ssmjunks

    Broken apps are untrue. SafetyNet can be passed fairly easily. There are also multiple modules that can assist with this too. I also never lost system update privileges. It still pushes no issues. Lastly, performance issues? More like performance gain. I get better performance with better battery backup.

    Is there much to gain in 2021 in rooting a phone that is still in warranty? Not sure I have seen anything the root can do that would benefit the majority of people so I suppose it is very niche? I think that once the Android updates finish and assuming you do not upgrade then rooting is worth the risk for the amateur person. Though iPhone users get six years of updates so that is no incentive to jailbreak.
    All in all, it really is for the techies that are PC literate and know what they are doing. I would not try this myself! No banking app is a bit of a deal-breaker.

    My way of explaining to people when they ask “does it make your phone hackable and dangerous” to any root or Jailbreak (iOS) is, don’t do it if you are asking that question. Go do a little more research then decide.
