I watched Sunday's service this afternoon and, as usual, I enjoyed it very much apart from the fact that the sound could have been better as I had to strain at times to hear what was being said - usually it is a battery that needs replacing in a mic but no one else seemed to notice it! Anyway the Choir's introit was lovely and the Church had the Communion pulpit fall on show - really beautiful. It is so sad to hear of all the recent deaths in the village and the pending funerals - that is all we hear about in Dreghorn too. It was so appropriate to have "O God of Bethel" as the first hymn and I love "I heard the voice of Jesus say" being sung to the Rowan Tree - my late Father often played that tune on his bagpipes. The two bible readings by Alex were good too although I had difficulty hearing him too! I enjoyed Rev. Stephen's New Year message from the pulpit which as usual was excellent - again a bit faint - and his reference to T.S. Eliot's "The Journey of the Magi" had me google it so I now have the poem available to read at my leisure. Thank you Rev. Stephen for that pleasure. I am sure the concluding voluntary which Iain played was the Ukranian National Anthem as our organist, Martin, played it regularly at one time - it is indeed memorable. My thanks to the live stream team for operating the controls to allow those of us not at Church to participate in the service or watch it at a later date. I do hope you get volunteers to help out when required. Every blessing on all of you in 2025. Take care. ♥️🙏♥️
