I’m considering moving me and my wife and kids to Lexington area, and want to make sure it’s a great place to raise a family. I live in Las Vegas and it’s too hot and society is getting worse. I know there’s bad everywhere, but we are growing tired. My brother lives in Morehead and says it’s been great for him and his family. What I want to know is there a lot of racism there and is the cost of living reasonable? Are the winters brutal?
There’s not a lot of racism here bro. I lived in Mississippi my whole life and only lived in kentucky for 2 years. Never experienced racism. Lexington is a college city but very chill and upkeep. Lots to do here and it’s hot but not Las Vegas hot. Gas cheaper and cost of living is cheaper. Nice neighborhoods and friendly people. I’ll recommend the move to Lexington

I’m from Nebraska and I moved to Lexington in 2004 I loved it when I first moved here but theses last few years have been terrible there’s been a lot of homicides there’s other nicer towns Lexington has been doing too much I wouldn’t recommend it

I grew up in Lex but quickly moved out to LA and then NY during my early twenties. stayed in Louisville for years but now Im outside of Lex. Now that Im back in the area I die laughing when my friends from other towns say they avoid Lex or Louisville because they are too big. Those are sleepy cities and it takes an outside perspective to see that.

Lexington ,Kentucky was ranked in the top 10 big cities to move to for 2019. I read the December 2018 issue of Money magazine and I believe Lexington was ranked #7 or #8. Austin,Texas was ranked #1.

@@DKN1GHT I had the opportunity to visit Jackson, MS about 10 years ago. My ex's Dad was a hypnotist from Omaha & had a show in the Delta (which was an experience of it's own) but we took him to the Jackson airport. It took me a few exits to find a hotel we would even feel safe in. It was like 3am, One the front desk ppl were in the car with I could only assume were their drug dealer & said it would be a minute. And the next, multiple working girl's & their bosses just sitting in the lobby. I used to drive escorts in my younger days but it was my first time seeing the game at that level. Finally, I found one next to a Shoney's & asked the front desk lady if it was safe there. She said it was a rough city & we would be fine there. I hope you have luck in finding a Good Place to Call Home in your future, just remember you'll always have one in Kentucky! I'd leave Lexington for better weather or the Ocean.

Great video. You being from Jackson,Mississippi I figured you would move to Atlanta or Houston. I grew up in Atlanta and I want to relocate to a smaller city. I was thinking either Raleigh,Charlotte,Huntsville, or Winston-Salem or Greensboro. I may consider Lexington. I heard good things about the city according to Money magazine.
Yea a lot of people from Jackson always think Texas or Atlanta is a way out lol. I’m in Oregon now. Lexington is a peaceful college city with tones to do. 1 hour away from Louisville and Cincinnati with tones of hiking trails. Sports events and more. Those cities you named are pretty good

lived in Lexington for a few months while we we're waiting to close on a piece of property down in near Richmond Kentucky I really like it down here it's rural laid back people are fantastic. the 3 months or 4 months we lived in Lexington where just pure hell as far as the traffic I'm just not a fan it was convenient though you could be pretty much anywhere you want in short order even with the traffic.
nothing like the Metro Atlanta area where we had moved from Roswell which was 24/7/365 traffic, not saying Lexington can't get real bad but there are ways to avoid it

i was born there, my mom had to move me & her to a semi small town cause lexington was just getting too much with murders & stuff, she said that they found a half decomposed body strewn next to a dumpster on versailles rd. so it's understandable that she wanted to move. stuff like that frightens her.

The city is pretty chill tbh and always something to do. Cost of living is average so it’s pretty affordable depending on your job. I’ll recommend anywhere south Lexington or north east Lexington to live. Best areas
@@DKN1GHT By the way, I did end up moving down here (of course) and ended up in the Hamburg area. This town is so much nicer than my previous city I was in. I'm really enjoying it here so far.
Only gripe I have is how long the red lights last here, seriously, if there's enough traffic, you could be stuck at a light for 10+ minutes. lol

Lexington proper is kind of expensive a little pricier then Cincinnati. but really nice. Surrounding five counties are inexpensive to live in.

Yes. White people are the majority, but the black population is around 50K and the Hispanic population is near 30K. I've lived here my whole life, went to middle and high school here, never saw much racism or any of that at all.
