Good job! Nice to see an actual quality build on YT for a change, although from you, it's a standard! Good job!
dude, you are an artist, a scientist, and an engineer!...probably the best mechanic in north america. i hope the owner paid you a king's ransom, and the former "mechanic" hangs his head in shame and realizes he needs to get out of the business for the good of all.
Must be a bit frustrating when customers dont listen to you. He would have saved paying for a dynosession if the valvetrain had been fixed beforehand. It is interesting to see the projects you work on but cant wait until you get back to your own project!
This is the classic case of a costumer that thinks to make a good car all you have to do is throw expensive parts at it that say "high performance" and the previous "mechanic" is the kind of guy that thinks that to be a mechanic all you need to do is turn some wrenches.
Another great video!
Your customer was very lucky he brought the car to you, would have been a difficult fix for a gtr specialist let alone a regular shop, so many problems with it!
So happy with this Canadian content. You go guys! Love your videos. Being in Toronto I love that I know someone who can work on these cars local. I have a z32 built (what the other owner said with a bill of 5 grand) . Well the motor burnt 2 pistons and had to redo everything. Thanks to all the JDM mechanics in the Toronto area. Car makes 600 whp with some old 2560 Garrett bb turbos at 21 psi. On the street I run 17 psi making 550. It would be nice if you had a cars and coffee this summer after this covid lockdown.
I’m surprised that you didn’t like the ID1050X. I only hear good things about them
Amazing work as always. The fact that you can draw out the issues so that us laymen can understand teh issue is a testament to your abilities and overall knowledge. Keep up the great work!
The car is definitely not spinning the four wheels at the same time.
Also why didn't you degree the camshaft properly with the engine on the stand ? Valve clearance is a critical part of timing ....
Glad you got it all together in the end : )
Love the intro line “most broken Skyline in the world”... love it.
Great work and i love your honesty.
I dunno if it i could live with all those gauges
im in serious need of work on my r33 gtr , this makes me wanna work on it and get started with stalled project ive had going for last few years
Good job! Sounds like a very responsive skyline
Great video 👍 we all learned a lot about cam blow-off etc I think you learned about what type of work and customers you work with when running a business.
So much respect for your attention to detail. When the world opens up, again, I'm coming to Canada with both of my Mercedes!😄💯
Fantastic job, very impressive, keep up the good work.
I'm an ecu tuner and trust me tuning cars with retrofits ain't easy especially when you're tuning in the unknowns you don't know how the engine and the retro components will respond or how they'll hold up.
I like dub music in your videos 💪😀 Great work again
Do you guys do in-house dyno tuning?
Finally you uploaded a new video
Hey FWI, the link for the sponsored product doesn't work. Awesome video, excited to see how the 300ZX upgrades go
My gtr is also in the process of getting fixed. Thing is, i was planning only a bottom end refresh. But you said 145 psi compression is quite low which I have. At the same time, my gtr eats almost no oil at all, so Im pretty sure ring seal is spot on (or that's what I think lol). What would be your advice? I don't want to go to crazy if it's not needed...
Do a leak down test. If it's okay, you don't need to worry about it
@@xfmotorsports Weird thing is, when doing a boost leak test I can hear crankcase pressurising a bit...
Just slap a HKS ssqv and solved the leaking boost issue..
Im looking this even with stock cam it will be able to make around 500hp easy thanks to bigger than stock turbo
Why does your shop have to be sooo far away. I’d love to have you catch up some work on my E55.
How come you didn’t just re-shim clearances? Is it because you didn’t know the clearances for those cams?
I know absolutely f all about these thing and would love to ce the relys
that car deserved to be made properly! gj
There's a Volvo 5 Cylinder in your future!
b23
This!
I love the sound of the 5cyl turbo Volvo's.
The one matt farah reviewed a couple of years ago was awesome.
Fuel load should use TPS with MAP correction not MAP because the car uses ITB.
I dont think the owners knows how to drive . Very late shifting i thought. Anyway i enjoyed the rebuild of this engine . Mine is getting done by a friend who had the same car with 280bhp race car charade gtti . 993cc 3 cylinder turbo . 100 bhp from standard . If my engine makes 180bhp am happy
MOAR GRIP!
you are the new Gordon Murray
I, for one, want to see a video on that old Thunderbird!
Your fan all the way from India.
Me I’m also from India
@@mohamedyasinarakkal5130 nice to meet a fellow car guy.
I know a lot about cars
@@mohamedyasinarakkal5130 good for you
@@kiranraj5707 lol bet he needs an award for all he knows
It seems like everyone who previously worked on the GTR was the worst DIYer in Canada. Also I think if you plan to be including test drives in your videos in future you should invest in some camera mounts for inside the car because that was some pretty shaky footage.
Too you DIY car tuners...don't bother, let the pros do their thing 👍
'in the world ' you're sounding like some American show off!- most immodest
Its interesting how some people just can't leave good enough alone. Thankfully, I'm not one of them. Car engineering costs millions of dollars to get a high performance engine such as in what we used to call The Godzilla.
Having said that, I love the work you do and I'm looking forward to seeing the manual conversion on the Mercedes-Benz being completed.
love the video, but.... 1:45 ...
I wonder how many more cars this "mechanic" has messed up like this... I hope he's watching this video and hangs up his tools. Or his neck. Jesus...
...Well that escalated quickly... I'm glad it's fixed now though ❤ good job bro 😀 x
damn this car i$ a money pit
Brampton
Are you hiring?
Boost by gear, anyone?!
He fucked it up 400 km ago....I was to stupid to look it over and fix it the right way.......HIS fault.....NOT mine.....HACK!
The constant slagging off of the individual who built the engine originally, is not doing you any favours. You need to remember that you too are an amateur mechanic and have made numerous mistakes and oversights throughout the life of this channel, and even this particular build. I'm not saying this to bring you down, but as encouragement to stay humble.
Dude, the previous mechanic deserve harsher words. He fucked up someone's car and got paid for it. The guy who you call an "amateur" fixed all of that, and I wouldn't call someone who has the skills to design and build a custom race car an amateur. He's already humble.
I'm not saying the original "mechanic" that built the engine isn't a dickhead, I'm saying this guy's work is not free from mistakes either, so he needs to show a bit more humility. He fixed this car, yes, but not without fault.
@@magnetic0314And what faults are there?
@@faizalmohd9536 if you know you know, I'm not out to destroy this guy's reputation so I won't state the issues, but my point is that those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones
