- Join me for a Review of EGTB, Wycombe Air Park for Microsoft Flight Simulator, from developers Pilotplus. This airport features a very high level of detail and expert 3D modeling with textures at 5cm per pixel. Does this airport set a new standard for those GA airports?

Very clever at the start driving into the airport, well done, thank you for the review I do love these smaller airports the detail in this one is superb 👏👍
Another small airport i can highly recommend i enno Notodden airport in Norway ofcourse im biased because it's my home country, but enno is one of my favourite airport scenery. For anyone interested it's in orbx store:).
@@davidneraas750 , I’ll take a look, thanks 😊
Great intro! 😀👍. ...and good review!
What a great little airport ..well done Pilotplus
Thanks, appreciate your comments. Regards
Nice work Mark, a few comments on the details for the developers.......UK vehicles have a yellow rear plate (car park full of white rear plates), I'd want a controller in the Tower, and people around the airfield buildings. I watched football from Adams Park on TV last night and there's definitely no trees.
Sounds pedantic, but I would have thought most wanting to buy these smaller airfields would notice the little extras
I think the trees in the stadium was a cache glitch on my part. Been back to investigate and no trees....let the football commence! Regards
Great video! Glad you took a look at Wycombe!
Tress in the stadium and the visual issues with the golden ball church are anomalies from your terrain settings, and possible incorrect loading of scenery cache.
Thanks Joe, I will check it out. Great airport.
The stadium looks like they could have fixed that easily. I think the idea is you create a region where autogen trees are masked out. But the detail of the surrounding area is amazing.
Hi, I think it was a setting I had wrong, cleared the cache and the trees are gone! Regards
I kept wanting to hit the spacebar in the car view to see higher up over the dash :)
😂🤣😂
In the last 12-18 months, I bought almost nothing waiting for the release of FS2020... Not completely nothing, but compared to previous years it was close to zero :] Anyway, after release I'm terrified. Small airfields will squash my wallet soon. As much I avoided VFR in FSX/P3D, because world behind windows looked like after Tunguska meteorite hit, now it is a true pleasure and Wycombe is a shining gem.
so many small airfields...so little cash...
I like the details at this airport, I'm looking forward to seeing more from the creators, Nice work indeed and a good video. I like airports to be alive not like a ghost airport.
Hi Sean, agreed and this one is definitely alive! Regards
Sean if you really want the sim to be alive, it would be nice to see passengers, in the aircrafts that have seats for more then the pilot, and co-pilot.
The forklift at 15:53 really wishes it were an airplane. Shoot for the moon and even if you miss, you'll land among the stars, little guy!
😂🤣😂
Same from me....that in car wiev.
Exactly what I have been looking for. Driving up to the airport, parking the car and getting out and walking to the plane.
Flightsimming is all a out "roleplaying" at the end of the day and the more immersion the better.
So very true!
Thanks Mark I have this airport in X-plane 11 it’s stunning . I love the small airports 👏👏👏😍
I am french but I might choose Wycombe airfield as my home base, it is so detailed and realistic. Ideal to fly to visit London and land at EGCL, or vice versa.
I grew up in Chinnor, not far from here!
I go by orbxdirect. I figure if it's good enough for Orbx to vouch for, then it's good enough for me to buy., so EGTB was purchased by me as soon as it was available on their store.
It absolutely is a very beautifull airport scenery with lots of detail indeed. However compared to a real Orbx airport, I miss the static and moving people, that - for me - make the Orbx airports feel so real.
Every bit of the video is very very interesting to watch. Thank you Mark....
Thank you, Mark, - excellent as always. A very generous x-platform discount is also applied .
There should be a beaten up old Lightning or Hunter just inside the gate... at least there was when I did my PPL at Booker.
Once again, great video, and information. However there is one thing that puzzles me, and it's your comment regarding the altitude. The altimeter needle is spot on the 1000 foot level, and you even comment that you are leveled out at a 1000 feet, however if your gauges are correct, and adjusted properly, when you lifted off, it showed the airport at 600 feet ASL. Am I missing something here. ?
Hi Robert, yes your missing my error....forgot to set the QNH...sorry 🤭
@@SimHangerFS Don't loose any sleep, we all make nistakes.

Nice video.
I also have this beauty. Check your photogrammetry option because I think is deactivated in this video.
Careful. As gorgeous as it is (I bought it cos I had it in XP11), people are experiencing CTDs with this product. Just like in the early days of FSX, these quick portovers have a habit of going boink.
I have spent about 4 to 5 hours in this scenery, no problems experienced so far and it is gentle on the frame rates. Reach out to the developers they are normally very responsive. Regards
I challenged myself to take a shot every time I heard a mouse click... I now need a new liver :(
Thanks for the vid Mike, it does look good. Oh and not meaning to sound overly critical (I'm far from any expert!), but your noise gate is very aggressive.
That was a great intro. 👏
Thanks 😁
Daft question.....is the car some video trickery or is there an actual car made for msfs which would be great!
It’s video trickery! 😁
@@SimHangerFS ha ha ok thanks. Very good effect.
Wonderful. Ideal for VFR that's the only thing you can do good in MSFS2020. Just one question : how all those effects impact on framerates, and how huge in Mb the airport is? All that details even in places where you don't need too much ( I want fly and I don't walk around) are not exaggerated? It seems there is a competition between good developers ..... and airports are always more complex but heavy. I have a 1 TB SSD only for for MSFS but for most people it's insane .... what do you think?
The airport does not have a big hit on FPS. In my opinion Pilotplus is one of the leading developers at the moment. An SSD is perfect for MSFS. Stay well.
I wonder if they modelled Betty's Burger and chips in the cafe for £3.95 ? because, you know, i'm a stickler for detail and wont be buying unless the cafe menu is correct. I think the smaller airfields really bring life to a sim. I've moved to MSFS2020 from Flightgear because i was fed up flying somewhere only to be rewarded with a "grey strip" and nothing else. if we all developed our local airfields using stock building from the local area we could really make a difference. I'm doing several in my county. They are not accurate models, but they "feel" like they are...entirely believable
😂
Trees...trees everywhere!
it's weird because it's near my house!
How did you get that in the car view?
I overlayed the car interior in my editing software....trick of the trade, but not in sim. Regards
Mark,
That editing trick with unknown software by me would be a great little video. I am sure I am not the only one quite interested in understanding the how. Great work!
@@kentrogers1008 , hi Kent, here’s the how....I took a picture off the web of the car interior, cut out the windscreen and made it see through (alpha layer). Recorded in sim using the drone camera entrance to airport. In editing software (Davinci Resolve), put in the sim recording and overlayed the car picture on top so you can only see the in sim portion through the windscreen. Then edited in the little bumps etc to make it more believable. Added separate soundtrack of car driving. A lot of work but achieved the desired effect. Regards
@@SimHangerFS OMG... Great idea with the Car! My first thought was: where did he get the mod to drive a car in MSFS? Awesome detail, well done!
Why do reviewers of airfields always set poor weather with dark skies? It really doesn't help a potential buyer to assess the graphics or the quality of the scenery. Would you consider please reviewing future airfields with bright, sunny weather so everything can be seen clearly? Thank you.
Duly noted sir 👍
For good sight seeing we need helicopters like the R22 or the hughes equivalent.............
Yes please this is ideal for the R22 👍
How is the dash in the 152 dark ? Is that a mod ?
No mod, just overcast. Regards
@@SimHangerFS yeah but it was clearly black with the texture , my version doesn’t have,,, it’s like a beige old looking colour
@@goatash , oh got you. It is a mod....mega liveries pack www.msfsaddons.org/liveries/liveries-megapack-v8
I think you missed the runway it was more to the right lol
There are two grass strips at EGTB, the one to the right is used for gliders normally. Regards 😉
