- FIRST IMPRESSIONS of HANOI, VIETNAM | (the most chaotic place we've ever been)
Welcome to the start of our Vietnam series! We will be starting this series in the capital city of Hanoi!
Hanoi is in northern Vietnam and it is known for its architecture, food, nightlife, and so much more!
We start our travel day in Laos by heading back down the Nam Ou River to Nong Khiaw and then take a shuttle to Luang Prabang. The next morning we took a flight into Hanoi City. After arriving into the hustle and bustle of the city we get settled into our AirBNB and hit the streets to find some delicious food. We found our very first Vietnamese dish, bún chả, and absolutely loved it! We are so excited to be starting this brand new series and can't wait to show you Vietnam through our lens. Tune in next week for our Hanoi food tour!

*From there to here it's a totally different vibe! "Vietnam. It grabs you and doesn't let you go. Once you love it, you love it forever." - Anthony Bourdain.*
Totally agree with this statement. It’s grabbed me!
Anthony Bourdain was such a great traveler. I will forever miss his voice.
sure dude, give up your first world citizenship and become VIetnamese, see how you will enjoy it
It’s my beloved country wherever Iam Vietnam is always in my heart. Hello Vietnam 🇻🇳 from Ohio USA
@@havo3804 come back to VIetnam then
Going on 8 years in this city; just when I think the chaos gets a bit old, I'll leave on a trip and find I really miss Hanoi. It's definitely home, in all its gritty, bustling glory.
Awesome comment! It’s always great to leave for a bit to really appreciate your city! Gotta love the energy! Thanks for sharing!
I spent 2 weeks staying alone in Hanoi French Quarter including xmas 2001 and new year - apart from my daily walk around the Hoan Kiem Lake (locals do it) my favourite hang was sitting on a step next to a smoky streetside charcoal BBQ eating delicious pork shasliks while imbibing local beer Bia Hoi from a freshly delivered plastic tub, refilled through a siphon of garden hose - while watching the endless stream of Honda Dream 100cc scooterbikes burbling past - that was some kinda perfection.
Love this! Thanks for sharing! I could feel the atmosphere with your wonderful description! We loved the lake area 😍 Hanoi is a special place! Not sure how we missed the pork shasliks 🤦 We will steal your scene for our next video in Hanoi!
Yeah, there is snow in North Vietnam which is not much different from America or Europe. The central Vietnam is mostly dry and hot while it is 100% tropical weather in the South Vietnam. If you want to experience weathers from 3 different continents, Vietnam is the place. It also has the amazing foods and places.
SO TRUE! We used pretty much all of our layers throughout our time in Vietnam haha. We felt the chilly north and the warmer south, love the diversity you can get!
The central vietnam so cold in winter, in nghe an province has snow in winter ( at high mountain )
Snow is rarely to seen but dont underestimate the cold there on winter 🤣
you know that is a bold statement and i live here
It’s so serene and beautiful that I find it hard to believe we fought a major war over there. I would’ve put my gun down and just lived off the land tbh 🇺🇸🇻🇳
sure dude, give up your first world citizenship and become VIetnamese, see how you will enjoy it
Hard to believe that your country tried to bomb it into freedom and democracy. Millions died and maimed for your cause.
If you think Hanoi is busy wait for Saigon! Don't miss Hoi An what ever you do! Have a great trip. Love Vietnam👋🙏
Can’t even imagine what Saigon is like 🤯 Thanks for the recommendations Randy 🍻
I like North vietnam much better. Saigon is too crowded and too dirty
@@SammyandTommyoh man, gonna tell ya. In term of chaos? You got a whole new level of chaos in Saigon in some certain area
@@SammyandTommy when was this filmed
In Indonesia where I live, there's an expression, "Sebelas, dua belas" (literally, "eleven twelve") used to express the sentiment that there is really no meaningful difference between two items. Saigon vs. Hanoi congestion and mayhem: Sebelas, dua belas. 😉
Being a Vietnamese person, i am really proud of my mother country. Thanks for your love🥰.
* In comment part, there are so many people from other nations having traveled to Vietnam, so hope you back to my beautiful country as soon as possible😊
// From Vietnam//
You should be proud! Thanks for watching 💜 We will definitely be back! So much more to see 😍
@@SammyandTommy Hanoi is hardly "chaotic" most of Cambodia qualifies.
As a Vietnamese who is living in saigon but always love Hanoi. From it’s own beauty , every corner of old town and streettttt fooood, i loved it most. Thank you for your sharing and welcome to Saigon too
Thanks for commenting and the warm welcome 🥰
I feel like I might cry when I really get to visit Vietnam. Its soooo beautiful
It's ok if you do! It is truly magical!
I am a Vietnamese who is studying in Korea. I miss Vietnam so much. I lived in the south of Vietnam but someday, I really want to go to Hanoi - one of the best places for learning Vietnam culture.
Thanks for your video. So amazing and beautiful. Welcome to Vietnam and enjoy your trip.
Good luck to you guys.
See you soon, my cool Vietnam~~
Thanks for such a warm welcome 🤗 Hope your studying is going well! We hope you can visit Hanoi soon! Thanks for watching!
Yes there's a lot of beautiful places in Hanoi, im more than six years working here and i love vietam culture quietly simple
Nhớ vn thì học xong ráng về vn phục vụ tổ quốc nha. Mấy bà cứ suốt ngày nhớ vn song toàn định cư nc ngoài làm việc ăn chơi thôi
Your arrival in Hanoi before Lunar New Year, when locals are waiting their relatives who are living abroad, returning Vietnam to celebrate the New Year. That's why you saw many people at arrival hall waiting.
From Hanoi you can explore the northwest region with ravishing beauty. Then go along the south, the beauty and nature of Vietnam will not disappoint you. Vietnamese people are also hospitable and kind
Thanks for the great suggestion! We love the Vietnamese people 💜 Appreciate it!
Loved Vietnam 🇻🇳!!!! Hanoi 🚂 Hoi An 🚂 Saigon. 🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜 Enjoy!
So glad to hear it! Can't wait to share our journey with you guys 💜 Thanks for being here John!
Enjoy Vietnam! Have been there 4 times or so. Its manic and different. Best coffee I have ever had! Look forward to sharing your experiences.
That's awesome you have been able to enjoy it over 4 times! The craziness was so much fun! Never experienced anyplace like it! Thanks for being here 👊
Cảm ơn bạn đã đến thăm Việt Nam

Brought back so many great memories, cannot wait to be back to Vietnam.
So good to hear! We can see why you want to go back 😍
sure dude, give up your first world citizenship and become Vietnamese, see how you will enjoy it
you'd need to stir the condensed milk coffee thoroughly till it's foaming. It would give out more aroma & wont leave over sweet taste at the end of the glass.
Awesome, thanks for the tip! 🤗
Also try bạc xỉu, which has both milk and condense milk in it, its more delicious and light, suitable for ppl who dont want to chunk down a lot of coffee. And you cant miss egg coffee while in Hanoi, it is a famous drink adopted from the French colonization. Vietnamese ppl substituted cream with egg because it is much cheaper and easier to buy back then. The well-known egg coffee place in Hanoi is named Giảng Cafe, at 39 Nguyễn Hữu Huân street, but honestly any coffee place will do. Try trà đá vỉa hè also :)) Wish you a good stay in Hanoi
Welcome to my peaceful country Vietnam. Hope u had a great moment. It's been 7 years I couldnt come back my country. Even though I am living in Canada but always watch video about my hometown. Really appreciate it ❤️

Love the everything about this video
Such a beautiful and exotic place! Always, it's Vietnam. Oh! I missed it. I do.
It really is 😍 We can see why you miss it!
Oh my goodness! Hanoi seems like an amazingly cultural place. I want to go there. Great video!
You should! It has so much to see 😍 Can't wait to show you more! Thanks Marcia 🤗
It is so unique. Some people get a bit turned off by the toughness of the place, but it's like a coconut: hard and rough on the outside but sweet inside.
As a new viewer, seeing that you filmed this in Feb 2020, during Tet holiday, right before covid was a thing what a great time to visit Vietnam. Even I am a Vietnamese currently living here, seeing your videos make me miss Vietnam and the freedom to travel before covid, a lot!!!! So, thank you for filming this. Hope you will be back soon, we are trying to get back to normal life pre-covid here.
Thanks so much 💜 We were super lucky with our timing! Good to hear it’s getting more back to normal life! Hopefully not much longer 🤞We will defintely be back!

We love Laos too! Can’t wait to make another trip! Thanks for watching 👊
Very impressed with your content editing skills. This is a tutorial of how it should be done. Congratulations!
Thanks for making our day Mark 🍻
Nice journey! Good edits and production quality for handheld on-the-go footage! The big lens makes it look so much more documentary too -- along with appropriate music at the right points. The video really captured the sensation of being there. Especially the scenes from the car which I enjoyed re-watching a couple of times. Looking forward to more! Subscribed.
Thanks so much! I really enjoyed creating those car scenes so thanks for saying something! Comments like these keep us creating and improving so thank you 👊
Left me craving one of those coffee's...and a food tour! 🤣🤣 Another great video guys!

The reception at the arrival halls in Vietnam airport always made you felt that you are the superstar. You are the Old Quarter I think, of course it is chaotic but full of energy, everything you need is within reach
They do make you feel the best! Yes we stayed in the old quarter 👍 It was exactly what we wanted! Thanks for sharing Gary!
Beautifully shot and edited looking forward to more videos
Thank you so much ☺️ So glad you enjoyed the video! More to come!

OH Boy! Vietnam! I worked on a construction project at Ho Tram Beach for a month. Really looking forward to this series. We spent a few weekends in Saigon so we can relate to the crazy traffic comments and the sensory overload. We loved our time there.
Awesome video as usual.
No way! How long ago was that? That’s awesome you got so much time there! The traffic tajes some getting used to but it’s so fun! Thanks for sharing Elden!
We were there in 2013.
Traffic was crazy...crossing the street in Saigon was a true act of faith.
We also were able to do a short stop in Siem Reap and see Angkor Wat on our way home.
Fun. Good job guys.
Whoa...Sonny from The Best Ever Food Review Show commented on your video! You've made it, Sammy and Tommy! Hahaha!

Such a wholesome mild mannered family w delicate touch to vlogging in Vietnam. ❤️
suck to live there . I would rather live in California to watch the Lakers winning another ring with LeBron James. GOOOOOOOO LAKERS.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed the video 🤗
@@somethingwong3827 not so…if you have decent money, it’s a very good life cus cost of living there is so cheap. People are friendly as heck and you drive 15-20 miles out of the city and it’s seems like you got into a time machine where you time traveled back 25 years. Vietnam is Beautiful untouched landscape which I’ve visited many times. Saying all that, I do prefer my life in SoCal cus that’s where my family live
@@somethingwong3827 also, gooooo Lakerssss 👍🏼
As you can see, whenever you point your camera to anyone in Vietnam, they gonna do the thumb up, or a V sign with a big smile. This is so cute and I love that energy!
Yes I love this! Everyone is very photogenic!
Good well maintained. 😆Some compilation you can have. I will recommending. Make more content like this please.

YES, we couldn't agree more! 💜🤗
Teşekkürler harika bir video ❤️
Watching this video really makes me miss Vietnam quite a bit and can't wait to go back. Depending on where you're currently at on your trip, I can recommend a few great eats either in Hanoi or HoChiMinh City (i was back there in 2019). Also, careful with your phone/camera while vlogging, especially out the window or on the back of a scooter. It doesn't happen often and most people VN are genuinely nice, but there are a handful of opportunists out there that pray on travelers. While youre not paying attention, they would snatch your equipment or belongings so just keep a close grip and eye on your stuff. Otherwise, I hope you enjoy VN and everything it has to offer! Have a safe trip!
We can see why you miss it and want to come back! Thanks for the advice and tips!
You travel to the corrupt country . It’s pretty sad you must watch your belonging . Doesn’t sound good at all. Too much animosity to visit VN .
@@somethingwong3827 That's with all places don't you think? I know of zero country that is not currupted in some type of way or does not have some type of petty crime. Just gotta be smart about what you do and where you go, that's not just for VN, but that's with any foreign place you travel to.
@@somethingwong3827 Then don't come. We do not welcome people with your mindset here anyway. Good to Russia maybe
I would say be more careful while blogging in Hochiminh. It is a less of concern in Hanoi
