Halsey is a very close friend to Bts, especially Suga. She is very supportive and defends them when necessary. sadly she just announced that she is very sick, diagnosed with lupus and a form of leukemia. Huge schock for all of us.

The original title for this song is "A poem for small things" in Korean. But Jimin suggested it to be changed because that it can be easily misunderstood as Army being small. This being a love song for Army,

The song’s Korean title is “A Poem for Small Things,” which I love. Affection for ARMY and inquiry into why ARMY loves and stays with BTS are common threads in BTS’s music and when they speak to ARMY though live broadcasts, written letters, ending comments at concerts, etc. They want to know ARMY deeply as much as ARMY wants to know BTS deeply.
The MV was filmed in Korea.
RM, Suga, and Jhope all have writing credits for the song.
Hi Scott & Sam that’s our gal Halsey! She’s a good friend of BTS & especially SUGA. They have collaborated on “SUGA’s Interlude” on Halsey’s album Manic & Halsey’s “Lilith ( Diablo IV Anthem)“. She’s a sweet heart & part of BTS ARMY family.
This is the song that made me ARMY and I LOVE it so much! Also, did you notice that the MV was heavily inspired by Singing in the Rain? Lots of those old Hollywood musical elements which I loved coz I love those Gene Kelly musicals and Singing in the Rain is probably my all-time fave!
71 yo here. This song is a sequel to Boy in Luv, which was a teenage angsty idea of love. Boy with Luv is softer (pastels) and warmer. Halsey, the girl in the video, is a big pop star in the U.S. She represents ARMY here She's become a good friend of BTS. You should see them together in the Behind the Scenes of this MV.
BTS was under a lot of pressure after their speech at the UN (2018) and the members were having a hard time with all the expectations. RM and JHope's vetrses reflect that. They decided to retrench and just focus on their source of energy and inspiration (ARMY).
I just wanted to point out that this video is -almost scene by scene - a callback to the musical, "Dancing in the Rain."
A callback to “Singing in the Rain” and RM’s solo with the white hat is a callback to Gene Kelley’s “Gotta Dance” , also the couch scenes from “That’s Entertainment “.

This song contains the message that they will fly to their fans, not the sun, with the wings given by ARMY after overcoming a hard time due to great pressure and fear because they unintentionally became the biggest boy band in the world.
It's kind of a love letter from BTS to ARMY. :)

I became OB-sessed with this song omg, I couldn't listen to anything else for months if not a year. SO catchy, this brought me in to BTS, then I Need You made me an army. I couldn't get over the subject matter they would choose to include in their MVs considering the age of the majority of their audience. And then I realized nothing could make more sense. As Hollywood guys, I think you would be really interested in knowing the layers of meanings and references to this song and mv. I would love to see your reactions to the explanation video of Boy With Love by Bookish Theories. This mv is an homage to the old Hollywood musicals, especially, Singing in the Rain but the song itself is tied to Jungian concept and BTS relations to ARMY. The brilliance, is that, they were able to tie all these perfectly together, correlating, into one package. Even, Halsey, in the mv is a symbolism. This may seem like a simple, catchy, & fun, pop song but once you open that window, you're gonna realize there is a whole new world beyond the screen. In general, most of BTS music are made, not just for listening but to feel, think and make an impact as well. This is why, old ARMY like me, enjoy and love their music so much. Of course, all of them, looking lovely with adorable, sincere personalities is an extra boost to the admiration. I view upon them like my own kids now and support all their endeavors in life. This is the song that introduced me to BTS. A girl on grade 6 I cared for in 2019 showed me. I was hooked. 💜

Halsey is a very underrated singer (imo) she started as a sound cloud singer if I remember correctly and has had so many hits and anthems. You HAVE to check out her Lilth remix with SUGA for the Diablo game, but she has so many great songs. Her last album was one of my favorites so far. The tradition, Castle, Bad at Love, I'm not a woman, I'm a God, and Nightmare are some of my favorite songs of hers.

You asked about the girl, that is Halsey ( American artist). Suga and Halsey have done some work together as well ( Halsey, SUGA - Lilith (Diablo IV Anthem) a video game. The mv introduced gamers to Suga/Agust D including reactors.
Halsey is a big supporter of BTS. She is the one ( from my understanding) that bought /started the members those the glittered (Swarovski crystals)mics, the original set, they are famous for using.
When Suga was doing his documentary for the D Day album he came to LA and visited several people in their home and one of them was Halsey and then Steve Aoki. Both are huge fans of BTS.
Also, there is a live performance with Halsey. I agree totally, Suga/Agust D Trilogy is a must. Then J Hope More in Arson mv then there are lives. So much more to mention. Glad you are enjoying your journey down the rabbit hole.

And I think you have it flip flopped. Halsey noticed BTS’s sparky mics on the BWL set and lamented she didn’t have one. At a later meeting, BTS gifted Halsey her own rose gold sparkly mic and she gifted them Christmas socks. The exchange is documented on video if anyone wants to search it up.
