“IDOL” was actually a clapback. After their billboard chart entry and them getting inivitations to perform at the amas and receiving a billboard music award the korean media and other groups’ fans started saying that BTS has become westernised right now (don’t respect korean culture and blah blah blah) so they came up with Idol, the MV and also the choreo has many traditional dance steps, the music has many korean elements. And the performance as you saw here had korean traditional performances.
BTS have never stated IDOL was a clapback, that’s important to clarify. It may have been purposeful or simply the direction they had already planned on going.
That's a very weird thing about kpop fans like a certain group faces success in west and they flood up the media with "westernization" especially their "favourite" group bts is the biggest example

Jimin got an Appreciation Plaque from The Kim Baek Bong Korean Fan Dance Conservation Society, for his amazing fan performance in the intro of Idol and for his (quote) "significant contribution to promote the status and the aesthetic value of the dance". The fan dance is considered as an Intangible Cultural Treasure by the Korean Government, so getting this Plaque was really a touching and impressive way to get his superb dancing style acknowledged. The appreciation for his dance was signficant since in Korean culture most dancers who do this specific dance are women. His dancing and handling of the fan being immaculate. Also his interpretation of it helped peak more interest from global audiences about the dance itself, since the video of his dance went viral.

Jimin's traditional Korean fan dance brilliant performance in IDOL, earned him a plaque from the Kim Baek-bong Korean Fan Dance Preservation Society. We're very proud. :) Also I'm glad you guys are starting to notice the fan chants. ARMY has lots of them both for their names and some lyrics.

I don’t know if you notice, but each song has a fanchant. ARMY chants the name of the members at certain parts of songs (usually at the beginning) and certain lyrics, this makes it as if we are singing with BTS as part of the performance. 💜

Guys, here's a tip for the channel: watch "BTS in the Soop". There are a few episodes of them on a "vacation" in a country house, a great way to get to know the boys outside of the starry world. It's really fun and intimate, you'll like it!

To give you - and any other newcomers to BTS some context, this MMA was held 1 December 2018 and then the MAMA was held in Korea on 10 December and in Hong Kong a couple of days later. From the 3 performances they repeated Fake Love, Airplane Part 2 and Idol. However, whilst the same songs, entirely different performances. As ARMY we are truly the luckiest fandom because bring iconic every time they step on stage. I think you can’t go past Idol from MMA although if you saw it on MAMA first you wouldn’t be disappointed. I would like to encourage you to watch the 2018 MAMA for at least Airplane Part 2. The audio isn’t great but it doesn’t matter - BTS bring their magic!

The narration in the mirror you have to read it from the bottom up and from right to left. This is also apart of the Bangtan Universe. It starts at “INEED YOU” MV and every album after The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt. 1 to 7, to the Webtoon, The Notes. It’s a whole other world and fascinating.

Regarding mma2019, why was it so big? Bec the original plan was, mma2019 & mama2019 supposed to be their last grand performance on award shows before they enlist. They released their album MOTS7 feb2020, & originally after that they'll be going on massive world tour, release PROOF anthology album then enlistment.
BUT covid broke out the world around march. They havent promoted MOTS7 well during that time, cancelled their world tour, refunded all the tickets, most of the refunds, armys decided to donate them for covid funds. Bts didnt want to enlist during that time, thwy can actually but it was rushed, no proper goodbye, they wanted to give something bec it'll be a pause on their career.
They patiently waited. Even releasing successful singles. The 3 english songs, dynamite butter & ptd + BE album. They waited long enough to postpone their military duties bec they wanted a perfect 'see you later' projects. And they did. They did recorded a lot for armys. The timing was more perfect.
There's a reason so many people said Idol was the most memorable cb, the energy was on a different level so many people and dance cover groups did dance challanges and at every live performance the energy and fanchants were over the top
You need to react to their post-pandemic concert, which is available on Disney, and took place in Las Vegas. Also, don’t forget to check out their MAMA performances from 2014 and 2016
