Quickly, a couple of men set up a little recruitment station-small, fragile, and brittle, just an old table, some ink, a quill, and two chairs. As the news spread of the revolution, many men signed up in a heartbeat. Ragged clothing, poor working class, now become armed with muskets, men readying themselves in a minute. 1:06-2:40 The other half of these men and boys marched in a single-column formation, led by a single man on the horse, for he would be in charge of training these boys into men, and men into soldiers. They finally reached a base camp along their long journey, their first experience was marching together from afar, they got that down, and now they need to know how to work the guns and tactics. Once they reached camp, they rested in their tents. Days and Nights would pass, turning into weeks and months as these men train to become professional soldiers. Finally, at the end, they reached their completion, they were now given blue coat uniforms, patches, and symbols of the new Continental Army. 2:41-3:53 These men... no.. these soldiers now march in tight formation, their faces determined with might as they head forth to confront the red coats that have transgressed upon their lands. Days passed by as armies clashed on the field, and battles raged across the continent over the years. 3:54-4:59 The siege of Yorktown is over, finally, the war has been won. Thinking about it but couldn't sort of get a America for the Exploration Age? We sort of can but it would have to be called New England and be from the time of the Mayflower up to the Revolutionary War. Back when the first 13 colonies were still a part of Great Britain. I guess the problem would be what it would look like and who can you use as potential leaders from that time period
Just like the Mexico one, these are meant to represent the nations at their prime, the US on it's beginnings was a giant in the making, but just like any other big world power both of old and new, it is now merely an old man living off his past glories. Civ does well to remind us that history is about the ebb and flow of human activity, it's about the people, not the particular rulers or political views, it's about the Egyptian farmer sowing the first harvests after the Nile floods, the Chinese merchant visiting the western limits of the Silk Road close to Rome, the first American family to make it to the MidWest after a perilous roadtrip, each person who live for it's culture contributes to history even if they dont show in the books.
Always makes me feel a little sad to hear a theme like this. On one hand, it highlights the almost hopeful nature that the USA was born with. On the other, it highlights just how far it's fallen into this... hellscape on Earth. Hopefully one day America becomes that beacon of hope once more.

@@fuzzychewbacca In English from the UK, it's more common to say America for the whole continent. Because from the European point of view, which is also reflected in other European languages (French, my own, but I believe also in Italian, German...), America is singular and designates both north and south America. Americas in plural exists, but is not supreme - in French it's a bit old-school, like "Indias". Now I get we're talking about English denominations here, but even in the Oxford English Dictionary or other references, it shows that America to designate the whole continent is customary in UK English. (P.S. : I'm not advocating to not call the US civ America! Firaxis is an American studio, they can use the American English way to name things...)

please stop calling this civ "America" when it is the "U.S.A."
I agree, but we cannot deny that when most people think of America, they think of a country rather than a continent. Moreover, the US is currently the only country in the world with the word America in its name
It is America, though. You're thinking of "The Americas". Not exactly a clear name when compared with The Americas, but I don't see a problem with this in the game and think it's not a fruitful "issue". The Aztecs aren't referred to as Central Americans anywhere, so I don't see a problem.
Furthermore, "The United States of American Empire" is unnecessarily long and doesn't sound right, and in UI short strings help immensely. Also for RP element, what if the player only has one city, are they a group of states which are united? Lol, just to give some thoughts.
Its united states of america hello? Its correct term.
@@fuzzychewbacca only u.s.americans are teached that way,, of calling the continent "the americas". It like if like if people from "central African republic" monopolize the term "African", but no, they call themselves "central Africans".
Just accept that because of the worldwide cultural influence the U.S.A. has, the word Amercia was monopolized.
Just dig in history a little bit and check when the word America as coined to the continent.
Also... as Europe is divided in eastern/western and so on, do you call it "The Europes"?

You are among civilization players
I will lose it if they make the most imperialist civ a diplo one again
:)
In case you missed the game guide, America is an Economic and Expansionist civ in Civ VII. Also, I'd argue Brittian has the US beat when it comes to both scale and depth of imperialism.
@@dylanu7896 ey economic and expansionist is perfectly reasonable, I like it
@@dylanu7896 🇬🇧: Who taught you how to do this stuff?
🇺🇸: You, all right? I learned it by watching you!
@@dylanu7896 I see you and you are probably right but in britains time we can still think of some french russian and german individuality. After ww2 until recently, america has been the sole ruler of the world.
