I actually have this disease, and I was a runner before but now I can’t run and stuff but thanks for this video . Really helped me know more about this 😀👌
The Physio clinical videos are very informative and excellent. They are straight to the point. Thanks to Dr. Khaled Medan and all the team involved.l am a third year resident in physical medicine &rehab and find them very beneficial.
Any recommendations on rehab exercises for someone with mild/moderate pain. Typically I would do heel raises, standing calf stretch, seated hamstring stretch and standing quad stretch heel to bum. Anything else you find good, Glute bridges etc?
You’re very welcome! Perhaps you may not need to stretches at all 🙏🏼 if you are unsure please do visit a physiotherapist so you can have tailored advice for yourself
Hi Sarah! Nice Question! I suppose it’s certainly possible in SOME but perhaps not all patients with OSD. I had it myself for example and I’m afraid I didn’t grow very much 🤣 A nice paper which looks at things like this is www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3781894/
I got osgood-schlatter disease because I was running wayyyy too fast and didn't even know I had it for 2 months. I actually got it when I was almost 10. I couldn't run or jump for 3 days so I had to lean on someone or limp my way through. My mother thought it was a muscle pulled but whenever I was very active so I kept hurting myself. (You start to get a bit taller so your shinbone is trying to adjust and go through the pain.) Apparently you can grow really tall or have a growth spurt. The most active children in my school don't have it so I think I'm te only one along with some other girl. (maybe but I'm not sure.) I still have it today but I'm happy I have it because it means I'm growing up.
i got diagnosed cause my doctor read my x ray and im currently doing strengthening exercises im in week 2 of rehab and when i walk to much i feel something unconfortable in my knee if i was asked how was the pain 1 to 10, 10 being the highest level of pain i would say 1 to 2, any thoughts? how many months can i go back playing basketball and my doctor said prevent playing sports, running and especcialy jumping since i use to jump a lot
I am a teenager.I've been having this problem for more than 2 years now.During this time period,I was playing football and for the last 2 months,Ive been resting and using ice in that area. But it does not seem to go.What should I do now?
I’m 14(just turned 14 this week) and haven’t hit my growth spurt yet, will this affect my growth spurt, or this this trigger my future growth spurt, I have had it for 3 months on both knees, sometimes it randomly hurts on one knee and I can’t walk or run or jump, but right now I can walk at 80% and I have t even tried running and could barely jump
@@ClinicalPhysioyup on my way march 5th 👍🏽, today I’m most definitely feeling better than the past days, I can walk normally and jog with minimal pain but if I bend the knee there is pain
Hi Tina! Naturally challenging but I suppose the major signs are going to be similar - the subjective overload, pain on palpation of tibial Tuberosity - you could always ask parent to palpate the area to see if painful for example especially if you can visualise this on video!
iam 16 and i have pain on my right knee, there is no swelling or anything it just pains when i move it in diffrent motions, like a little pain i dont know if i have osgood? i have also had it when for like 1-2 years doctors said its nothing so can u help me?
He'll sir, I'm 16 years old and recently I visited to the doctor and found this disease but they didn't say anything about osgood schalter they just said it is a bony outgrowth in medial part of upper shaft of right tibia and found little soft tissue swelling around the bony outgrowth, and they advised that I need do a operation hence sir please advise me what shall I do?
I don’t know if this is hereditary but my dad has this he was a track and field athlete back in his high school days and I remember having this disease in first grade and I wasn’t really active till I was in the third grade. So is it hereditary?
hi, I hAve been diagnosed with osgood schlatter since I was 13. I have it in both knees and it is a very sensitive area. Only touching it causes major pain. I couldn’t bend over or sit legs crossed. I was always told it’ll pass with time. Almost ten years later I stayed with the same thing. My legs keep hurting me badly and whenever I do sports I feel like I’m amputated. So I decided to get a surgery. 2 years after the surgery, I still feel the exact same pain with added extra pain from the surgery. I know feel pressure in my knee every 3 minutes and I have to crack my knee for the stress in my joints to free. It happens to me every couple of minutes and I need to crack my knee multiple times. I’m very confused and no doctor can help me. They all say I’m fine. Does someone know / experienced this sort of thing?? I really need help because I can no longer bare the pain and stress it’s making me. I need to bend my leg every minute to get a good strong crack to relax. I have it in both knees but I only did surgery in one and I’m really sad I did it because I’m really strict in moving my legs. I can’t bend down on the ground. I’ll need someone to lift me up and I lose feeling of moving my knees for a minute but I still feel constant pain
hey i am 13 and i got osgood slater disease and i stoped playing soccer fully because of it hoping it would get better and it has not i still have this and i cant do anything that i want to because of this please help
I am 15,hurt since last year but according to what I heard, the pain will eventually heal after I have stopped growing but the bump still remains,is it true
Hi! Yes that’s exactly what happened to me, but the pain can stop earlier than that if things are settled under control. But yes the bump remains but it never causes me any problems now 😊👍🏼
My parents say it's common but I feel pain after playing any sport for more than half an hour . Is it really common ? Do all people have this pls help me
I don't wear shorts because of this disease. Because it looks ugly. Because of that, I am also stressed. It hurts when the knee is on the ground. There is no other pain.😂😢
I had osgood from age 13 to 18 and it did away bcs of muscles training that I did myself. All the doctors( ortopeds, kineto therapeuts) said that I'm growing and I need to wait till my bones matures...I didn't grow at all🥲. I got osgood from excessive running and jumping cuz my coach was crazy and now im a little down bcs I'm small compared with lots of my colleagues(I'm 179 cm)

How about the theory of growth spur? I find some of my patients are usually tall for their age .

Strengthen your muscles even tho at the beginning it will hurt. And take supliments
What is your condition now?
I don’t know if this is hereditary but my dad has this he was a track and field athlete back in his high school days and I remember having this disease in first grade and I wasn’t really active till I was in the third grade.
So is it hereditary?
To my knowledge, it is not NECESSARILY hereditary. I had it when I was a teenager and no one else in my family did
