Mother always said that one good turn deserves another. Things get a little "out of hand" when Burt Reynolds stops by to show off his new pants...and a can of whipped cream!

My father and I watched this together. We couldn't quit laughing. Dad died two months ago, and I'm watching this in June to honor him for the month since Father's Day is in June, and it's the first one without him.

Women And men love Burt Reynolds!! He's handsome, a tough guy, has that killer impish grin, funny, doesn't take himself too seriously and a damn good actor. As he said in Smokey and the Bandit- he loves to show off and he's good at it!

I love seeing almost ANYone burst into uncontrollable, HYSTERICAL, convulsing laughter like Reynolds did after Carson took the can of whip cream back from him and stuck it BACK DOWN HIS PANTS! THOSE magical times in life when we all explode with laughter like that are the ONES TO REMEMBER!!!

In Burt's book "But Enough About Me" he says this was the most fun he ever had in front of an audience. It was all improvised but he knew Carson was a huge Laurel & Hardy fan and that's what this bit turned into, basically Burt and Johnny doing Laurel & Hardy style comedy.

A true comedy classic. One that you can be sure even Jimmy Fallon or Steve Colbert wouldn't want to risk ruining their wardrobe to re-enact (let alone, _try to_ surpass). And more's the pity!

I remember this episode. I saw this when it was aired. This is why Johnny Carson was and probably still is the greatest talk show host in TV history.
... Some of the craziest and hilarious stuff happened on that show. It was always improvised and off the cuff. None of this stuff was written and rehearsed. It was always people doing crazy on the spur of the moment stuff. Total magic.

Carson responds like a great comedian, immediately taking off on a classic Laurel and Hardy bit with Carson taking the Stan Laurel role. Reynolds gets it straight away. Note the little miming of the Hardy tie flutter. And Carson hits a genius finish with sticking the can down his own trousers. Altogether brilliant improv by both of them.

"Life" has done to Mr. Reynolds what it has done to MANY of us. But every time I watch an episode (on DVD) of "B.L. Stryker," I remember him as that hero-type who puts himself down, but saves the day. "Stryker" was filmed close to where I live, and it's a part of my life as well. I have the Firearms from that series, and the memories to go along with them. Hang in there, Mr. Reynolds- As I told one of your Associates the other day- You are a National Treasure.

I don't think we'll ever have another man like Reynolds. He was a quadruple threat - acting chops, stunts, amazingly gorgeous looks that got better with age and most importantly a stunning lack of guile. His self deprecating sense of humor put him out front of all the sexy actors of the same age. Burt was a memorable hunk of manhood. I will always remember him for the centerfold even though he believed that it did him a disservice at the time. He wanted to be taken seriously as a fine actor - it was just the timing I think. He was terrific in Deliverance - right around the time of the now iconic centerfold. That never swayed my opinion of him as an actor.. Frankly it took real balls to pose for that pic.
