Man, i'm just getting started with all this Facebook ads stuff, and it pretty much drove me crazy for a few days because nothing seemed to work, but your videos have helped me A LOT lately. I still have a lot of testing to do and a lot of things to learn but your channel has provided me with very helpful information and i'm finally getting somewhere with my ad strategy thanks to you. Looking forward to more videos ! THANK YOU so much Tom !
That's definitely a method I use. I generally will test that against a lookalike audience using the View Content audience as a seed. The main focus of this video was retargeting though, so I left lookalike audiences out of this one. Thanks for watching!
What would be an appropriate budget for a retargeting campaign? If I was to have my main campaign at $5 a day for a month, would running a re-targeting campaign for $2.50 a day for a month work?
Great content as always! Would love a future video on Lookalike audiences and your thoughts on that (top 1% for higher quality vs top 5% for greater audience size, which countries you make your Lookalike audiences in, etc)
Love this content man We've just been doing this stuff this year as part of our strategy, so it's cool to see it broken down and taught this way - with great production value. Keep it up!
Hey man, love the videos they’ve been super helpful. With the new Facebook updates it seems you can’t highlight people that took an action (in this case clicking the button). How are you working around only being able to highlight visitors of the landing page but not people who clicked through?
Hey Tom, great video. When you created your custom audience targeting those that watched the video but didn’t click - did you use a pixel? Is it easy to set up a pixel using a toneden link ?
Yes, exactly. It's super easy to connect your pixel to ToneDen. I target an audience who has viewed 95% of my video and then exclude those who have triggered the view content metric on my landing page.
Heey Tom, I am loving the vid!! In what phase will you start to retarged? Is that after 3/4 days, or after a week? Would love to hear your take on this!
I generally will start to retarget after a week or two. I like to see at least 1,000 conversions before I add that into the mix. Once it's in though, I just leave it on. Works great!
When you are creating the custom audience for a new song targeting people that clicked through your previous release, do you need to include locations in the ad set level or just keep “US” and it will automatically target people where they are located?
You'll need to either include all the locations or set the location to worldwide. Because it's a retarget it will only grab the countries where people have clicked through by default.
Hey Tom, hope you are well? I have two campaigns I was running for my last single, I was new to conversions so one was a retargeting conversion campaign from previous singles and one was a traffic campaign to a cold audience. Which campaign should I drop this into?... I'm thinking the conversion campaign because of the pixel ability to track.
Ok so at the end of the video you teach how to create a retarget from the last 90 days etc however you didn’t change the location it was left on default United States was that intentional? Or was that implied that you can use your targeted countries like always?
@@tomdupreeiii I’ve been running a link ad and a cover art photo ad for my new EP through feeds and stories and that seems to work better for me than a the little snippet videos I tested. Maybe you could do a video on doing cover art photo ads.
Hi Tom, what if i have made the ios14 updates, can i still target ppl who went into the first link i had, since i now have changed the domain/link name for my adds.
I've had a really successful ad on my latest release... cost per conversion was 0.12p... On Toneden it says 550 people clicked through to Spotify to listen to my new song, however I've got 150 streams only... why is this?
It sounds like you may have some people clicking through more than once. ToneDen doesn't report unique clicks, so odds are you've got multiple clicks per person happening. Could be a targeting or age demographic issue. If you're targeting ages 13-18 in your ad sets, I'd pull that out. That range is always problematic.
@@tomdupreeiii okay cool thanks for the tips, I think I.must have a reporting glitch because I could see that my event clicks were going up. I ended up triggering the release radar for the first time last Friday! I have you to thank for that Tom! But my reporting still seems glitched ?
@@tomdupreeiii well your experience might be more positive so still interested in seeing your results. It's just that my "normal" campaign is running at 7 cents per conversion so I probably just better off going with that.
Love your channel! I never thought I could make sense of facebook ads but you're really helping me understand them and get results!
You are so welcome! That's awesome to hear. Thank you for the comment!
could you go over your custom columns setup in FB ad manager?
Thank you so much, you explain so well! I really learnt something useful from your video. Thank You. This ist just what I was looking for 🙏
Awesome! I'm glad it was helpful. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment!

Due to the fact you look like Johnny Lawrence, you are our SENSEI 🙏🏼
Hahaha! Sweep the leg!!
This is awesome
Glad you dig it!
Thanks for helping🔥
Happy to help!
Thanks man! How about creating also a 95%views based lookalike-audience every time you release a new song and start a new campaing? 🤔
That's definitely a method I use. I generally will test that against a lookalike audience using the View Content audience as a seed. The main focus of this video was retargeting though, so I left lookalike audiences out of this one. Thanks for watching!

Yeah that can work. Your budget really depends on how much you want to spend. Anything is better than zero!
@@tomdupreeiii Thanks Tom!

Hey brother, would you suggest only doing Story Ads?
If you’re trying to drive traffic to Spotify, yes, definitely.

Yeah you should still be able to use that data. If it’s been delivered to Facebook via your pixel then you should still have access to it I think.

Hmmm... I don't see that video plays at 95% tab
It’s an option in the drop down when creating a custom audience.
