    Hey John, I have a full Christmas album that by nature will have a short lifespan of 2 months, is their a slightly different strategy to saturate holiday playlists, retail playlists, etc for the most eyeballs in a short period of time? thanks

    • @Hypeddit
      @Hypeddit  3 месяца назад

      Great question! I don't have any holiday songs so I cannot speak from first-hand experience. But what I would try is build a Christmas playlist and promote that heavily from end of November through end of December. Have your songs on that playlist mixed with other popular Christmas songs. I think that's an easy way for fans to discover your songs. And you're building an asset that you can reactive every year for the holiday season.

    I'm going to set up my new AI campaign tomorrow morning, can't wait to see the results. Last time I didn't like the high CPC and the fact that I couldn't tweak my campaign, but this time I'm just gonna let the AI work its magic and sit back haha 👌🏻😄 I'm just in doubt about not involving tier 3 countries this time and about the best caption and what not, but we'll see! 💪🏻

      @@jpeene8389 I switched over to manual ads again, because I still feel I can do it better 🙈 Correct me if I'm wrong, but especially on keywords I can choose a lot more when I make the ads myself in Facebook Business Manager. Since I didn't have much budget, I chickened out of the automatic Hypeddit ad and turned back to my old ways, but I will try again in the near future. If there would a possibility to add more keywords (interests) to target, I see no reason to set things up myself in FB Business Manager, except for more manual control of course.

    Thank you for your transparency, John. The payout from Spotify for 80,000 streams should be somewhere between $240 - 400. Given your initial ad investment was $1,630.91, you would have lost over $1,000 on this campaign. The increase in numbers look good, and there is the slight possibility of triggering the algorithm and acquiring new fans, but this would be a significant loss for an indie artist or label. Is there a method or strategy that yields a better ROI, or are these vanity metrics so an artists page looks better? You always have great content!

    • @Hypeddit
      @Hypeddit  Год назад +13

      The math is different cause you're not promoting your music for streams - but for listeners. And listeners listen to more than just this one song.
      I just answered this question for DJTFalcon below so let me copy this here as well:
      Matching up ad budget and revenue from royalties is very difficult because it's all mixed up with the activities of your existing fans, and fans who saw this campaign listen to other songs (because I send them to a playlist) and more songs over time.
      So the best way to look at this is to figure out the "lifetime value" of a fan and compare that to the ad budget. That's pretty complex and the #1 goal of the campaign wasn't to be profitable on royalties but to grow a die-hard audience.
      That said and to answer your question, here's a simple way to look at this:
      The campaign for this song generated 40,000 listeners so far.
      My all-time ratio of streams-per-listener for my account is 8.3. That means these 40,000 listeners would turn into 332,000 streams (if they behave like the listeners I got before).
      Average royalties are $0.004 per stream so 332,000 streams would earn approximately $1,330.
      This calculation is far from perfect. It doesn't consider geographic differences in royalties. It doesn't consider timing. But it's a simplified way to evaluate the outcome.
      There are of course ways to increase earnings and even turn music promotion profitable. I talk about that in this video here => ruclips.net/video/r-Iohgv4Qmw/видео.html

      Hi Paul - great question! Yes, I usually run at least 2 campaigns at the same time. One campaign is my "evergreen" campaign - it's the best performing campaign. The second campaign is my "test" campaign - a new campaign I run to try to beat/outperform the evergreen campaign. Usually that test campaign is for my most recent song released on Spotify, whereas the evergreen campaign can be for an older song that just so happens to outperform all the others. This is good stuff for a future video actually... :)

    Great video John!! Quick question, I created my own deep links for my Playlist ( thanks for the gem) but I'm assuming that the deep link skips the landing page (getting emails and followers). Does it skips the landing page?

    • @Hypeddit
      @Hypeddit  Год назад +1

      Yes, the deep link alone will go to a track on a Spotify playlist. So on its own this wouldn't be effective for a conversion-optimized Facebook ad campaign cause there's no way to insert pixel tracking into the flow. So what I recommend is use that deep link on your smart link. That way you get both - conversion tracking and fan traffic where you want it.
      The Hypeddit Music Ad Automation creates and links all of this up automatically. That's why I don't talk about it in this video. All the tech stuff is happening automatically behind the scenes. Deep link, smart link, pixel, conversion events, conversion API... everything is done by the software so I don't have to worry about it and know it's all set up correctly.

    hi John. I have a campaign for a new song, which goes to my "This is" playlist, and another one for the "evergreen" song, which goes to a "mixed" playlist (my songs plus some popular bands)
    Would you recommend I reroute my ads or is this a good configuration? I am after getting more streams to reinvest the small return and keep consistently reinvesting it over time

    • @Hypeddit
      @Hypeddit  Год назад

      If your mixed playlist contains songs from other artists, you're essential spending money to get them listeners and streams. I would only recommend this if you're monetizing that playlist as a curator (submithub, etc.). That way you're making money to fund your promotion.
      Otherwise I would direct it all to your This Is playlist so every listeners stays on your music. That maximizes your streams/listeners and therefore overall streams and royalties.
      Because the Hypeddit Ad Automation feature automatically uses deep links, you can promote multiple different songs on the same playlist without a problem.

    • @Hypeddit
      @Hypeddit  Год назад +1

      Great questions!
      Yes, you can use a music video (you can upload a custom video in Hypeddit to use in your ads) - BUT you risk attracting attention for the video more than for the music. What happens if such fans end up in Spotify is that they are disappointed because they loved the video but of course the video isn't playing on Spotify - only the song is. So there's a higher chance they leave Spotify to hop over to RUclips and in the process leave a "negative signal" to the Spotify algorithm (cause the algorithm wants to see people listening to longer stretches of your song.
      You can switch campaigns from $10 to $5, but I would recommend to do it the other way around. In the early days of a campaign, it's learning. It's not yet fully optimized. You see that in the data I share in the video. That's when you wanna have a low budget. Once the campaign is fully optimized, that's a good time to scale the budget up if you like.

    We've done several Hypedit based campaigns in the past and would love to switch to automated ads. Still I'm curious: is there a way to set up Instagram placements only in order to target a young audience? Hardly anyone below 35 uses Facebook anymore - I can see why your campaign worked the way you set it up, since you once said you're doing "old school" house music. Also, I googled your soundalike artists and they're all 50-55 years old, so there's a chance people on Facebook know their music. We're targeting a younger, contemporary audience and had really bad experiences with Facebook placements (like, visit-to-click-ratios of 1% on Facebook compared to 50% on Instagram)

      Campaigns usually perform best if you let the algorithm do the optimization for you. The challenge with manually updating the campaign is that you're changing the rules of the game for the algorithm. So more often than not, manually making changes limits how much the campaign can improve. Performance may of course go up --- but chances are it would have gone up even more if you left it auto-optimize.
      I don't change my campaigns after they run. I used to - but not anymore. I put the time towards a new song, or an email campaign to my fans, etc... those have a higher return on the time invested.
