No, a mod is a modification to the game itself. A fan game, on the other hand, is something made completely from the ground up. You can’t make a fangame from a rom. And you can’t make a rom from a fangame.

Mhm. Don't really like the Boss designs. Robotnik seems very passive. There is no reason for him to be there other than be a target to hit. If he doesn't interact with the player or at least controls the death traps then why is he even around? I know implementing new Boss ideas is hard. And otherwise it looks like a real great mod.

Sonic 1 was already remastered in Sonic 1 CD. This mod doesn't make a graphic upgrade here or necessary improvement, it only does some changes to make it look like Sonic Mania but it's all. Good mod anyway!
I love the graphics, I'm glad they kept most of the original sprite work and tweaked the frames of animation. I wasn't a fan of the upper left display lettering and the border it has it's a bit distracting, and I really didn't like the music in some of the levels. Pretty neat to have other characters and abilities in sonic 1 but I didn't like the inclusion of other characters from the franchise except for knuckles.

I played mostly of your acts and they are pretty close to sonic 1. Very good job! Even more you added some of the elements I saw shortly in Sonic 1 2013 mobile edition which is fantastic... One of the problems I found is that sometimes playing like spring yard act 3 then it jumped to main menu for no reason... When reaching star light 3 for some reason it started playing the boss theme instead of star light zone... Those little drill robots in labyrinth look pretty close to what used to be but without that animation coming from the ground.... Why don't you add the sonic mania sphere bonus (from sonic3&k) into your mod ? Each time entering any checkpoint bonus didn't load anything and cameback to the act with no rings... Anyway I'm saying that stuff about sound effects because breaking monitors with your louder effect makes it sound much better than mine.
