  • Don't buy a jetboard before you watch this!
Hi its mike and during the last years i tried almost every jetboard on
the market so today i am ready to answer your million dollar question
    - how to choose your first jetboard.
But Before we get to that let me quickly ask you a question. If the
    money was not
an issue, what car would you buy? Most people will instantly say
    Ferrari or Lamborgini..
Now there is just one condition - you will
have to use this car for the rest of your life. Wait What?? Now you
start thinking.. Where will i put groceries? How will it take my kids
to school? That';s not a practical car at all.
Same with jetboards. The fastest jetboard might not be the right
choice for you.. So here are my tips that might help you out pick the
    right one!
First what NOT to do and most common mistakes to avoid!
    1. Do not buy chinese ripoffs of jetsurf. The market is flooded with
cheaply made jetsurf ripoffs that might look same but will break on
the first use and good luck shipping them back to china for servicing.
Get ready to pay more and buy an original board and you will thank me later.
    2. Do not buy first generation boards. If you saw my videos, I found
so many issues with the first generation boards i bought that could be
simply avoided if you waited little longer get the "new and improved
    2.0" version
a year later. Wait till they get it right and buy a proven one!
    3. Do not get into a long term preorders. If someone saying pay now
and receive next year this means you might get stuck for 2-3 years
like me or may even never see your board or money back.
    The normal
waiting time for preorders in the industry right now is 3-6 months.
    Anything longer
should be avoided. Wait till they are ready to ship or buy a different
    brand!
Next..A million dollar question - should you buy petrol or electric?
Before deciding that you have to consider several things.
    1. Where you are going to use it? In Germany, Austria and most of the
Europe it's not allowed to use petrol boards in most of the lakes, so
you will have to stick with rivers or the ocean.
    While electrical ones
are allowed everywhere except on the planes which makes it hard to
travel with. I would also suggest to avoid using electric boards in
the waves because they are very fragile.
    2. Consider what is your age, weight and physical condition. Just be realistic
with yourself. If you are out of shape and too heavy you are not going
to have fun with adrenaline boards and they will just collect dust on the shelf.
In such case pick a big and powerful electric board like Carver x,
    Lampuga, Radinn, Waterwolf or Curf.
On the other hand if you are a lightweight person in a good shape,
it's much better to pick a fast and fun board like Jetsurf or Mako
which is light and give you tons of adrenaline rides.
    5. Finally after you consider all the factors you can start picking a
    board from 4 main categories
    a) propulsion systems. Those are attachments for your SUP or kayak
that provide you with hours of slow cruising and enjoyment and you
dont need to have any physical shape to operate them. Heck you dont
need to even stand up, just sit and enjoy the ride. Examples Scubajet,
Aquamarina bluedrive, Blue lagoon epropulsion, Bixpy.
    b) jetboards for casual use - those are big, heavy and easy to operate
thanks to great boyancy, You can enjoy them with a whole family and
you dont need to be in any good shape to ride them. Just prepare a
trolley and couple of friends to help you carry them and get an extra
battery! Examples Carver x, Radinn, Lampuga, Torque, Curf and waterwolf
    c) Adrenaline junky jetboards - are fast and light weight that allow
you do rapid turns .These boards require you to be in athletic shape
and get ready to get your hands dirty with some mechanical fixing once
in a while. - examples Jetsurf, Mako and esurf and wake from sweeden.
    d) Electric Foils - those are perfect cruising in the flat water
however you must consider the danger of the sharp edges of the foil
and use the protection. Efoils are hard to learn but fun to ride once
you master them. It's perfect if you have a calm lake or harbor
without waves or chop. Example Liftfoils, Fliteboard, Cabratec foil.
Now final and most important question - should you buy directly from
the factory or from the dealer? Most people get burned by buying
straight to factory and then get stuck for years with no responses and
    no servicing.
Personally I always buy my new boards from my dealer who happens to be
Wayne from jetboard limited. you might know him from our jetboard
testing tour videos. Wayne is not just an expert in the industry but
one of the biggest dealers in whole europe and expanding to north
    america, brazil and australia.
You can reach Wayne to get your quote
and most important for the post sales service, as most people dont
understand how often these jetbords break after you buy them!

Mike excellent video. You covered all the things that people need to think about before dropping some serious money on a board. I would just add that like all things in life you get what you pay for. No bargains in such a new sport so if it’s really cheap there is a reason....

Mike, great vid but still need your advice. Which board is good for tackling long easy breaking waves? My idea is that we have a 100 metre break but it's 200 metres off shore, so I ride out, catch the wave ( turn off the power ) then zoom back out to the break for the next set. The surfers are closer in surfing the main break but this will put me out in my own space. I am thinking electric Carver but not sure. Thoughts?

      Hi Gerry! Thank you!
None of the jetboards can ride without power (maybe only efoils). I think Jetsurf is the best on the waves, you can see my videos where i ride Jetsurf on the waves. It is very noisy however.
You cant ride it without power because the jet acts like a break.
Efoil is also possible to ride in waves!

Yes I keep my Jetsurfs for 1.5 years (2 seasons) then it’s better to sell it and buy a new one, else you would become a mechanic always fixing something instead of riding
