- Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was shot at in the city of Nara, the Japan government confirmed on the morning of Friday, 8 July. He was showing no vital signs and is feared dead. A man has reportedly been arrested for attempted murder and a gun has been confiscated.
