I'm at the airport currently but I'm glad everyone enjoyed the race! I wish I could've kept it a bit closer especially near the start but nerves and a few computer oddities distracted me, furthermore there's just no denying that TGH is on a whole nother level in terms of Celeste currently. Had lots of fun though, and am very happy with my performance all things considered!!!

This is a fucking thing of beauty to watch. Also goddam I loved The Summit. That 30 flag countdown felt so good on my casual playthrough to progress through; it was like I was taking a final exam back in college and knowing I had aced it.

I think I speak for the gaming community when I say we're happy to support Lena given the amazing soundtrack that was made for this game. The Celeste soundtrack is one of a very small handful of game soundtracks I've purchased.
This is great to have some of the developers/designers on the couch. They gave really great insightful comments on how difficult some of those tricks really are. Awesome!

Wow, it's so cool to come back two years later and see how much the speedrun strats have evolved. My best time for chapter 1 was apparently a world record at some point.
The thing is 1a is a very optimized route so yeah
Celeste is such a lovely game! If you're watching this and haven't played it, you owe it to yourself to go buy it right now!
Yay! I missed it live, so I've been waiting for this. Kind of crazy though, considering that yp is amazingly good and TGH still managed to win by a significant margin despite screwing around doing high-risk crowd-pleaser tricks.
What a great moment. Great game, great devs, great players.
Easily one of my favorite games so far this year. The fun platforming challenge I feel gels incredibly well with the challenge of facing your own doubts and anxiety.
If there will be a Celeste run in AGDQ 2019, I hope that Lena Raine will make it there as a couch commentator

Not sure how Lena Raine would comment the game, since she has only composed it. But as I'm a musician, I'd just love to see her commenting about the soundtrack, as it plays. Would be so cool :)

Haha, you have no idea, these players are literal gods at the game. For some comparison, I just watched TGH do a 100% speedrun of the game and for the most difficult sections in the game (not part of this run), he managed to pull them off first try in 12 and 7 deaths. It took me over 2000 deaths each to do the same sections.
Celeste is absolutely phenomenal though, if you enjoy platformers or good stories I'd recommend buying it. Level design is phenomenal at being really challenging while teaching you how to beat it and never being unfair. The constant checkpoints means you don't lose much progress when you die too, which is extremely nice. Its definitely the best platformer I've ever played.

The couch guy is called SecksWrecks, which is weird, but gamertags are weird. "My pee" is easy: they were constantly referring to YoshiPro as YP (and TGH as Teej).

Ian Bowman pc, they showed steam at the start, but using controllers
PC, there's a lot of bug fixes on Console that make the game slower.

Kinda wish that this was just a regular run as opposed to a race. While races are cool and all, I don’t watch the game regularly so I didn’t have a great idea of what was going on.
trust me, when speed running this game, its next to impossible to talk. Like, you NEED to focus, so even if it was a normal run, there still wouldn't much explanation.

I hate races where they bring in one guy who is clearly better than the other one by a huge margin, its over in less than a minute and everyone knows it. After that it becomes just watching the one side like you would if he/she was a single runner. Pointless.
Except when the run was submitted, the two runners had very very close records. TGH did pull ahead record-wise before GDQ, but yoshipro was still one of the top recordholders when the race happened.
You cant ‘force’ races to be close, there are way too many factors involved. This is just how speedrun races go most of the time.
