Surely this is the Princess Tomato sequel we didn't ask for.
I was thinking that too, but we're actually still about six months out from the Japanese release of Salad no Kuni no Tomato Hime.
Clearly Nike had second thoughts after thinking they had to compete against Reebok over Drac’s Night Out on the NES.
This is so cool. I'm disappointed this guy does not get more views. It's just so well done and Imteresting
Bot ?
Nope not a bot. Tis a human. Me. I honestly just like this stuff lol.
Missed opportunity to call this game “Toma-toes”.
I'm a little surprised this didn't get brought to America. It seems like the sort of thing that might have gotten a quickie NES port in 1988-89, when the console was blowing up in the US and everyone was trying to publish something for it.
(And the whole Nike thing could be fixed easily with a few sprite edits.)
I would have given it a try if I saw it
amazing timing, Retro Pals covered this game very recently in a live stream
as for this game... I mean it's tomatoes and feet mixed with crazy climber of all things
it makes for one of the more unique releases on the FDS
Slogan should be: watch your step 😅
Hey, at least this is a fairly unique concept for an action game. I don't know how well it would actually play (never tried this one), but you can't deny that they did something different, at least. I wonder if there's any action game which does the same thing, but better?
Octodad:dadliest catch and "Biped"
On switch are good modern ones... Well. Octodad is more modern than the famicom, at least.
The world's most unusual example of a 'walking simulator'
Oddly, while another befooted tomato was named Quirk, this game is much more quirky.
Why are the spiders in league with the insects, when spiders eat insects but not vegetables?
The *Kick Challenger: Air Foot* lore must be WILD 🤯
I haven't played this game but for some reason I really love the music that plays in this game. It's like repetitive but I just can never get it out of my head ever since I heard it in a stream once.
It sounds like something you'd hear in a terrible bootleg plug-n-play game... But better. XD
its got that hot cross buns infectiousness...
I kept thinking "Scooby-Doo-Doo..."
I think I randomly fired this up in an emulator at some point? I remember the crazy climber-ness of the controls at the very least. (funny timing as I was just watching some folks on twitch playing a whole bunch of 'fruit and vegetable-themed' games and this of course made the list! so there were a few, haha.
IMO this Nike's "unofficial" FDS game still feels not as insane as the one Reebok had almost released for the NES - the one where you played as a sneakers-clad Dracula
I never liked the controls of this game and I honestly prefer the way Crazy Climber plays. It's much more simple, which I prefer for a game like this. I do like the very detailed illustrations of the manual and the neat cover art.
When it comes to Truckin' Tomatoes, I'll stick to Kwirk.
The graphics look quite good for a FDS game. The reflections in the water are pretty neat looking.
You know, if I had a nickel for every Famicom game where you have to rescue a tomato princess, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird it happened twice, isn’t it?
so tired of this new version of the saying in RUclips comments
@@BagOfMagicFood what an unexpected response, and by unexpected I mean COMPLETELY EXPECTED
7:29 Hi I'm one of the half a dozen people writing how much i like the game. (It's definitely interesting , if a bit too fussy)
I like your videos
I should try this; it seems REALLY interesting if nothing else; the tomato guy is funny too haha Famicom/nes games always have such imaginative little characters
Algo brought me here.
These are... strange game mechanics
Impressive that they fit all 5 toes onto that foot sprite
Oh god it’s vap
Every word you said is spot on!
"Beware Attack of the... Walking Tomatoes!" I wonder if the 1984 game "Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom" is in the same universe. The Vegetable Kingdom could be nearby? That means the "Killer Tomatoes" might be near also. "Awwwhhh!!!"
