I loved this especially the picture of the old baths. I had swimming lessons there in the early sixties. The teaching method consisted of the teacher throwing a hoop attached to a rope across the bath to us. We put our arms through the hoop and he pulled us across the bath. Also the shots of the Old Arcade. Who remembers Smith’s newsagent? They actually had a battle with WH Smith over the use of the name and they won.
Alexander The great, yes. Years ago, when Wigan had adopted a new one-way system, a chap in Up Holland who seldom went into town got confused and ended up in the lane to enter a multi-storey car park. He complained it cost him 20p to get out. 😂🤦♂️
Always had a soft spot for Wigan, since my many visits to the Casino in the seventies.
