    It'd be really interesting to see a UV test to see which dresssings actually protect from cracking, fading etc.

    • @joeschmoe6908
      @joeschmoe6908 3 месяца назад +2

      That would be cool, but that presupposes that UV radiation is actually a prime contributor to cracking and fading. It may be, but I'm skeptical.

    • @trifin5772
      @trifin5772 3 месяца назад

      @@joeschmoe6908I agree. Laminated windshields stop most if not all uva and uvb light - side windows do let in more. I think interior plastics suffer in the heat and plastic just degrades over time - no cream can stop the degradation but can cover it up. Nothing wrong with interior dressings but they are mainly cosmetic (at best).

    Living in the UK I don’t care about UV protection, I don’t feel we get enough sunshine to worry about it long term, I’d never keep a car long enough to worry about it.
    I look for a slight darkening finish, with little to no sheen, as well as anti-static/dust repellent technology for my interior dressing.
    Looking forward to the video Jon, appreciate the effort you put in to them.

    • @kamilooss2113

      You still got a lot of UV even on cloudy day with no sunshine at all. I know its weird but you can still charge solar panels on cloudy day or people with sensitive white skin still can get sunburn.

    • @Nath92L
      @Nath92L 3 месяца назад

      @@kamilooss2113 yes I’m aware there’s always UV exposure etc but realistically how many cars in the UK do you see with sun damaged dashboards? Very little to none I bet.

  • @Truffel12
    @Truffel12 3 месяца назад +6

    If you got a brand new car and its got quality interior, I'd reckon you would want to alter the finish as little as possible and just want to protect it.
    Likewise when you have an older car that hasn't been maintained well and is starting to fade you'd want some rejuvenation.
    You could argue that those two should be different product lines.

      Many thanks for the advice. We have a Volvo C70 hardtop convertible so it has a heavily raked screen. I don't know what possessed Volvo to fit such a glossy bloody dash into it but the dashcam really suffers and so do I when I drive it as the reflections, especially on a bright day, make driving far less pleasurable. I will get some and give it a try as anything that reduces the reflections will be good.

    I really like Lithium Inner Space Interior Detailer. It can be used as a quick Detailer to remove light dust and smudges, but it does a really good job for darkening and leaving a consistent satin finish. It’s super easy to work with and seems to level itself very well. I switched from CarPro Perl. It seems to last and does not give a greasy feel to the touch. Feel better Jon.

We own a Volvo C70 hardtop convertible and reflections in the windscreen are bad and really bad when the sun shines. Will be trying the Gtechniq C6 Matt Dash AB next.
