I would absolutly hate a pvp that actually involves combat, it would be horrible for genshin. But pvp which solely depends on skill like windtrace is perfect for genshin, while not perfect by any means windtrace is the perfect formula for genshins pvp multiplayer. Improving the already etablished pve and making them reoccur more often is also a good approach.

maybe a pvp that you need to grind points to unlock certain selected characters, weapon and artifact sets. you cant change the weapon to your own and artifact will prob has certain locked stats and substats you can level up hence removing the unfair whale and time whale to the pvp game mode. ofc your hard work of farming artifact will just be in vain but that will still be put to used in pve game mode like abyss or maybe they will add more pve content like maybe a boss rush mode? and elysian realm style (honkai impact) mode? that would make it balance

It's quite interesting how the whales/high spenders are complaining that spiral abyss is "too easy" or the "only remotely difficult content inn the game" while on the other side of the spectrum, f2p/low spenders are complaining that it is becoming "powercrept" and that the bosses and enemies being introduced are literally just the same enemies in the open world, just with tankier hp, ridiculously higher levels and suuper slow startups (I think it's obvious which side of the argument I fall into lmao). I wonder what mihoyo will do to appeal to both sides of the spectrum, if they will at all

it's especially funny that the ones saying the abyss is too easy are exactly the ones that don't need the primogems provided since they're so willing to spend so much in the game...... like, if whales are complaining, couldn't u have added new floors that can be beaten after 12-3 and make them give rewards other than primogems if you're so set on not giving more out? (ofc, floors 9 to 12 could've been changed eventually if the 1st one became easy/routine also for endgame low-spenders/f2p, they could still b changed up, just not... this) if u didn't wanna add more to the abyss rn for lore reasons or wtv, u could've just added a copy paste mode w a different name..... sigh.... the whole game is already about beating enemies anyway, no one would bat an eye at another AR-locked hard content that is just beating bosses w high hp.... yk, like already happens in events

@@saturnoastro-prinz654 exactly what I’m thinking. Your idea is brilliant, just include some extra floors that are much harder than floors 9-12 for whales to have fun in. I feel like maybe having bosses that only exist in the Spiral Abyss might be a really cool idea. Or even just including bosses that already exist like Oceanid, but give them added mechanics. And if they were to repeat bosses, these new mechanics would change each time. That way it's not literally impossible for F2P players and it's still fun for whales who may play around once in a while.

I think another option would be to reuse the dungeons in the area that get no use aside from a few instances in story and create a rotating dungeon where the objective is less the dps but the puzzle solving. The elements you bring aren't just for the enemies but the dungeon puzzles themselves. There could be one per region with floors that change periodically and a reward at the end being a small amount of mora and char exp and perhaps it would also be the way to get region limited 3 stars that many early players probably burned unaware of how uncommon they were.

Please no. Leaderboards only benefit the already richer/more invested players. And the fact that Genshin can be paid to win is also another sign of a failed leaderboard system.
Raids would be fine. As there are people who skip Spiral Abyss completely, people can skip raids if they don't feel like it and the raid isn't a temporary event (meaning they can do the raids whenever they feel like it).
I do feel like they should reward co-op in a different way. Increased companion experience is nice, but it could be better. Co-op only missions is one idea, and maybe reward a visiting player after they leave based on how many monsters they defeated. Increased rewards for domains and a mvp system which gives even more rewards is another idea.

The very first event in Genshin was co-op only, lots of people complained that they wanted to be able to do it solo. Then the first several updates featured other events that while could now be done solo, were best done in co-op, yet they have since moved away from multiplayer events, and short of Windtrace, they are all mostly solo, or only solo events.
First off, the game is built around events as the focus, not permanent content, where even the daily commissions are more rewarding than the abyss (you get at least about 50% more primogems from commissions, than the abyss each month), and clearly they did want the main events to be co-op focused, or only co-op. Although due to their shift away form co-op, we can safely presume that most of their players wanted to play solo, which was shown in surveys, and their player game play data. If you want a multi-player game game, play something else, Genshin won't be that game.

Multiplayer needs to be interesting, that's why the first event sucked ass, because it was just about kill monsters and gather energy, but Im sure that if they make multiplayer events that are fun, like windtrace, more people will want to play them, also, they NEED to rework multiplayer, or else, almost nobody would play them, since the co op events that has combat are limited as hell, it's pretty boring to be locked to just 1 character for the entire domain / battle

This is why I said "you get at least about 50% more primogems from commissions, than the abyss each month."
Over in their other main game, Honkai Impact, its permanent cycling challenge content is the main content of the game, and gives the most gacha currency from game play alone aside from other things like currencies for certain shops, I believe it's even more than events, and certainly gives more than its daily activities. In Genshin events are the most rewarding repeating content, then daily commissions, followed by the abyss, and finally all the farming content,

Those who don't really want to interact with other people can just go in, get the shop items, get the daily rewards, and out. Those who do can help other members, play minigames, talk, etc. I heard there's a leak about player-created domains (not 100% sure how it works though), so maybe that could be added there too as a minigame?
I can imagine guilds dedicated to maining one character, whale guilds, guilds focused on helping new players and random ass guilds whose members do random shit like gathering to use barbaras/childes/kokomis vs oceanid. Could be fun

Other issues that make me not want to do coop:
    * Most shielding characters are useless and can't support others (only Diona and Zhongli and it's constellation locked)
    * The HP boost mobs get is HUGE and it ruins any benefit of asking for help from others.
    * You can't limit the amount of people that can join your party from the get go (which you might want to do considering my previous point)
    * Some skills and supports that work in single player don't work well in coop, like all of Xingqiu's skills.
    * In Honkai, if a character dies, you have some seconds to run to them and stand next to them for some seconds and they can be revived. This way if someone messes up (which tends to happen often because people don't read the Ley Line disorders) it's less punishing for everyone involved.
    * Yeah people really don't read ley line disorder description, I really cannot stress this enough. Genshin should really make more visual cues or outright disable some characters that will obviously kill the entire team. Like in domains where if you use electric skills it's gonna cause aoe damage to you and your team.

It's clear from the start that Genshin was developed as a Single Player Game with *optional* Co-op, and the reason behind that is pretty simple: elements and elemental reactions. Whole game is based upon the right use of elements and interaction between other elements. In Co-op even now, teammates can ruin your experience or you can ruin theirs just by using wrong elements/skills at the wrong time. Someone was about to use Hu Tao burst but you used Barbara burst and now the Hu Tao dealt only half damage. Or someone wanted to freeze those annoying rifthounds but you applied electro instead. You froze an enemy but some claymore user shattered it. You can see where I'm going with this. This drawback will also seriously affect the raids or any type of multiplayer boss rush because they're both DPS and time checks. That's why all the successful multiplayer events till now completely ignored the elemental reactions and solely focused on strategy and timing. Windtrace and Theatre Mechanicus are good examples of it. You can argue that random people can co-operate with each other, they can, definitely. But the problem is not everyone feels the need to co-operate, heck there are some trolls who genuinely hamper others' progress for amusement. Genshin not having a voice chat feature also holds back the co-op mode. Typing on phones and PS is not at all easy and precise, and Genshin chat has some weird censoring feature which censors harmless chats, so you have to make too much effort just to get your point across. Now imagine this situation in a boss raid where there are multiple people you need to talk to in order to co-operate and nobody has a room to make an error but your phone froze up or your PC shut down or someone used a C6 Bennett ultimate making someone else's Eula completely unusable. It can get pretty toxic and nerve wrecking. All the other MMORPGS are designed with co-op being the central feature, Genshin however is designed to be story centric which makes single player experience it's primary objective.

About the raid mode, it actually exists in Honkai Impact. You do a random matchmaking with two other players and you have around 10 levels where you have different enemies to beat but the thing is that you can only use a character and their equipment once, and they are locked for the rest of the raid. It's quite long, but you can leave if you want and the host can do matchmaking again. As a honkai player, I don't find the raid mode that fun after doing it a lot. I believe the main reason a lot of people play raids is actually to level up their divine keys which gives buffs which is important because of how competitive honkai is. Though, the concept of locked equipment and characters is really nice it's also in a competitive mode called memorial arena and at level 70+ theres 3 bosses making you have to plan out your equipment and characters though i'm not quite sure how good this would be in genshin because raising characters takes way longer especially considering the artifact farming. I heard that they'll be implementing co-op in APHO 2 which is nice because everyone has access to all the characters there and you don't have to gacha for their gear or ranks.

I was fully prepared to place down platforms to help them progress to the quest without them needing to swap characters, but that's when I realized that co-op blocks all quests lol, even side/world quests. I understand this is a gacha/mobile game but when other games like Destiny, Borderlands, and even Dragalia Lost are able to have seamless PvE co-op, it still bums me out that this game is so restrictive with it. I wish each person could have their own 4 man team but 16 characters worth of abilities on screen would melt a lot of people's phones as a majority of the playerbase are mobile players.

why use him then when sara lacks healing but just doesn't have that problem?

FGO have similiar system for their raids, and you can easily miss out since a raid boss can be defeated in a few hours or less, so busy players can miss out on farming it. FGO do have the raid boss available as a story battle for plot reasons, but only once before continuing.

I mostly agree with what you said. The multiplayer in genshin currently seems like a tacked on afterthought. It could be a coop only game and still be designed way better. The way progression works/saves there is very little for you to do. You don't feel like a full fledged player when you are in someone elses world. Most of what you can do is just grind some domain and then leave. Wintrace was a refreshing mechanical change for a limited event, but doesn't really have the design quality chops or depth to be a stand alone, always available prop hunt mode. But it is at least a smart genre choice at avoiding direct combat or lag issues with timing.
In free games, particularly gacha games. I feel like they lean on combat PvP as a lazy and cheap way to avoid building new content and progression. Instead of taking the time and talent to create an engaging and rewarding endgame loop for single play/coop. Just make your players fight each other eternally. Between them, the players and their skill form the content and progression for each other. While thats an okay approach for a relatively balanced, paid for game like a Street fighter or whatever, in free games it often cynically acts as an advertisement for the latest character or items powercreep. Some casual/free player comes up against the latest character, whaled out to the max and loses with an almost mathematical certainty. It directly demonstrates to that player the power of the wallet. And maybe it gets some small percentage of people in that situation to open theirs. Mission accomplished. So in that sense I don't want PvP in genshin. And to be honest, people don't like to hear this, but genshin has a weirdly toxic community for a coop only game. Usually the more PvP focused games get a boost to that due to the nature of the game. But almost all single/coop games I have played had some of the most wholesome communities ever. With genshin already being an outlier, I fear the PvP salt would take it to a whole other level.
At this point in genshins life though, the bigger problem to me is a lack of any kind of endgame, single or multiplayer. I wouldn't want to see raids like you suggest if they are multiplayer only. I would much rather see that work put into a new repeatable rewarding endgame mode that can also be played coop. Something like a raid, but more scalable, not NEEDING to be multiplayer. I know multiplayer is the topic but just to try to kill both with one stone. Just some kind of semi randomized dungeon with some puzzles, combat rooms and a boss fight. Hidden chests along the way and a big one at the end. The rare drops exclusive to this mode could be meta account stuff that endgame players will care about but new players don't see the value in yet, like new blueprints for the different artifact set strongboxes, or blueprints for stat rerolls on artifacts. Small resin cap/rate increase items. Condensed resin cap increases. Artifact storage increases. More team preset slots, maybe even a skin here and there to chase from any new batches they make etc. as well as some standard stuff like mora, primos etc. I don't necessarily think a higher degree of difficulty like the coordination and execution of a raid as they exist in other games, or the multiplayer only restriction, would even fit comfortably on the game already built in terms of mechanics, and the community it has fostered at this point and what it comes to expect from the game.

Like you could be in Teyvat by yourself or just pick one character and have the chance to still do certain/exclusive multiplayer stuff while also having the ability to have PvE with random people on the fly. Like maybe not several hundred/thousand people in one server but like several dozens so a lot of people are like spread out where you can still do your own thing while also having a chance to pass by other players.

But coop already has an un-obtrusive niche, which is a social hot spot for ppl that like to talk to new ppl or make new friends a lot. My friend has lots of stories of just funny convos with random ppl they've met in coop, or how they walked around to pretty places for 30 min with a stranger. Coop is fun for social ppl and not needed for not social ppl. If anything they should focus on the casual Mario-party like games more, windtrace is a good example, since coop is only played for fun and never for efficiency

What do you think about dungeon crawler mode? (available for single and multi)
Here are some of my concepts I have in mind:
    - You start as a character that you own, they are upgradeable via dungeon crawler currencies only. Ofc at the lowest level they have a reasonable amount of stats that would make them still viable to play.
    - Unique character building system for both artifacts and talents. Maybe for talents, the players receive some points to upgrade the talents after clearing a room? And for artifacts it's entirely new, maybe with dungeon crawler exclusive ones but including the existing ones wouldn't hurt, right? They work like this, you can get artifacts from room clears with the corresponding artifact reward, they come in multiple rarities but even the lowest one is still viable. You can use dozens of artifact combos (ex: shimenawa, blizzard, berserker) but with limited slots. Maybe the artifacts here aren't like the usual flower, goblet, and all other stuff like that but redesigned as if it's a single item, one artifact gives the usual 2 piece and 2 of the same gives the usual 4 piece. You can choose artifacts to combine so it only takes one slot, the 2 pieces from 2 different artifact sets may give unique additional effects (ex: shimenawa blizzard gives +atk%, +cryo dmg, + additional effect).
    - Weapons come in multiple rarities, you may upgrade them by using a forging system (?) but it's quite simple (ex : dragon's bane+1, improved stats and effect)
    - Mobs and bosses, the usual ones may have mob rooms, minibosses, and bosses. minboss and bosses are unique to this gamemode.
    - There will be a coin currency exclusive during the run, shops are available too
    - NPCs! They may give buffs, artifacts, and other stuff.
I've considered some cons to this gamemode too :
    - Characters having different weapons, using a set form of template should do the trick (ex : a lumine only run must be filled with sword giving rooms, other weapons are impossible to appear)
    - Multiplayer with characters having different weapons, maybe they could use the same trick as above but the first 4 weapon rooms must have the corresponding weapons but in a random order (diluc, ganyu, zhongli, yae run's room weapon order should be claymore-bow-polearm-catalyst in a randomized order)
    - Assets and file size, this even sounds like a different game lmao
    - Reactions, might be fixed with some artifacts that grants elemental applications OR making some npcs a playable character that gives buffs (ex: xinqiu but npc, gives his ult but not 100% uptime)
    -Connection problems, same as video
    - Toxic players not cooperating
    - Mobility, might be hard for mobile players (yes, me too)
    - support characters availabilities, might be fixed using the corresponding artifacts for more damage but that that gives us another issue that is...
    -RNG
Inspired by chillyroom games and hades (in a way)
Feel free to give ideas, fixes, or changes, I'd like hear about your thoughts on this matter.

I think that there’s a way PVP could be implemented, with reduced drawbacks and fun gameplay.
It would work if you could set parameters for each match, much like “No items” Smash or Uno House Rules.
This gives everyone the chance to have fun. Whales and big damage people can put no restrictions at all, while casual friend groups can just have a good time together.
    Artifacts:
Offer a few premade artifact sets for everyone to choose from based on who they wanna play, or give no one ANY artifacts, make your own default sets, or put no restrictions at all.
    Weapons:
Give everyone a new, substat-less weapon set. The Basic Polearm, the Basic Sword, etc. Seems pretty easy to implement. Maybe have only 4 star weapons allowed, or a specific selection. Maybe choose no restrictions at all.
    Characters:
For characters, maybe you can get access to any character as long as ONE of you has them. Not only does it even the playing field, it essentially works as an infinite advert for Hoyoverse. Have 2-4 Hu Taos beat the shit out of each other. Either way, without souped up artifacts and weapons, it’ll be much more reasonable.
    Misc:
Maybe give everyone the same HP level, whether that’s 12,000 or 1. Have it be open world with waypoints off, or a small map like in Windtrace. Have limited food, have no food, have leyline disorders or time limits.
The options are endless, because almost all of the essential stuff is pretty simple to implement I would think.

One idea that comes to mind when talking about raids is the raid system that fgo has.
It basically consists on different bossfights, with for example 400k hp each. The boss in the raid actually has a infinitely high hp bar, about 4 billion hp for example, and every bit of damage you deal on the small boss counts toward the greater hp pool. Granted this is not the multiplayer experience but it would be pretty cool to see this system in genshin.
Imagine a raid like this on osial when he dropped, or the new archon quest. Would be pretty cool

My suggestion is an event which needs 2 player coop where players do the quests together and also the more you spend your time with a certain person gives both of them rewards(doesnt neccesarilly need to be primogems)
And lastly voice chat that can be turned on or off whenever wanted

Im really hoping for a raid boss. Drops aside, it could be just fun to get your friends and defeat some giant monster together. This would make healers more useful and it'd fill the gap for end-game content. As for not everyone having friends/not willing to play with randoms many games allow you to beat raid bosses solo. It'd be a much greater challenge but it would be possible. And for the poor Wi-Fi connection. It may be a good idea to restrict raids to PS and PC, just like pre-installation of Genshin on PS.

Damn, Never been this early! Love the content.
Now hopefully mihoyo listens, even if unlikely.

For coop Genshin could make separate account types like for example there could be a Casual Coop Friendly Mode, a coop neutral Mediocre Mode and an singe player only Hard mode. Along side this it could give an opportunity for players to challenge themselves more could make the game more fun for people who like hanging with friends and playing casual like. It could also be great for are interested in Achievements and Challenge. If they have not already done so they could make an achievement system of some kind if they have not already done so. For Hard mode it could be interesting if you could not pay to win.
(I'm kinda new to Genshin but this is just my suggestion/opinion!)

I was able to convince a number of my friends to play a few months after I picked the game up (first Klee banner) and they really enjoyed it and are now almost as deep in it as I am, we play daily and I personally have only missed ONE single day of playing since I started. I was busy one Saturday.
Our Co-op looks like joining each other's world to farm crystals sometimes and helping with a boss sometimes and helping explore when a new area comes out and doing events. That's.... kinda it. But we have a lot of fun! Parallel play is important. Sometimes just playing the game solo in a VC is enough :).

I appreciate the time you took to dive into this issue, but I utterly refute the notion that the pursuit of meaningful, persistent endgame multiplayer wouldn't be worthwhile for the longevity of Genshin and its community. They shouldn't just "not try" because "what we have is fine." There are plenty of great suggestions here in the comments, but it really doesn't have to be anything more complicated than "structured co-op PvE" with an inoffensive but meaningful rewards structure. Imagine if you could earn optional cosmetic items this way, like namecards, teapot items, pets (remember pets?), character skins, or even something like Stella Fortuna at the high-end? People would LINE UP for co-op with rewards like that!
I only even bothered to give the game a try in the first place because of how aggressively it was marketed as a MULTIPLAYER game, and I know I'm not the only one. Can you honestly tell me you wouldn't enjoy finding synergies building teams together with your friends' characters when playing around the whole separate meta that would emerge from multiple characters staying on-field? I would really hate to see MHY completely squander their functional but not-yet-meaningfully-implemented multiplayer, if only because they already put in the work to get the feature working for those that enjoy it. Why not offer an incentive to those players to make the game have more lasting appeal and replayability, like you stated at the video's outset? They make SO MUCH MONEY as it is, they can absolutely afford to invest in multiplayer and we really, REALLY shouldn't be giving them a pass just because it wouldn't be easy to get right.

I absolutely agree with you. A lot of the 'downsides' in this video could be summed up as 'it would require effort'... and yes, Mihoyo should be putting in effort to make their game better! You could use those arguments as to why any subpar feature of the game should stay subpar forever.

I'm always hoping for improvements in fishing. I generally like to fish but it's sadly really lackluster not to mention that it doesn't really give any rewards apart from the The Catch.
Windtrace is great and while many would quickly lose interest if it was a permanent game mode, it should definitely come around more often.
It would be nice to have something where co-op isn't worse than solo but also not necessary. Having something to play with your friends is good, but no friend of mine plays Genshin so I would need to be able to clear it solo. Serious co-op with randos sucks which is why I don't even play MonHun in co-op.

I had an idea of a round based survival spiral abyss style thing where 2 players are in seperate arenas next to eachother and after each round players get to spend currency built up on spawning extra enemies or debuffs for the other player. The winner would be whoever fails to beat a round within a time limit or something.
It would be fun because it would have the challenging aspect of spiral abyss while also adding the unpredictability of an opposing player. The only problem i see with it is that a game of it would probably take pretty long if both players are good. It could be decently balanced aswell since certain characters could be countered with specific enemies and debuffs.

Maybe an interesting co-op thing would be an domain or sth. with puzzle mechanics which can only be solved with several players. And or it‘s more like a labyrinth so finding the right way is easier if players split up. Maybe there could be 4 items they have to find and each player can only pick up one of them. And can use a fixed chat or sth which they can send quickly. Or can mark things they saw. When they in the end or at checkpoints align again they can put the 4 items together and or can solve a mechanic based on the information each has collected. Maybe every checkpoint has a boss waiting or sth? And the drawing of cards System like in Genshin Tower defense could be used to have more max health def heal or shield by some condition so that you don‘t have to e.g. play C2 Diona in a 4 Player co-op. (Diona as an example because she‘s beside C2 Zhongli the only character who can grant others a shield but if playing single player she‘s usually swapped out fast to deal dmg with other characters so using her in co-op is usually not that fun but often you need a shielder or healer and not everyone can play their main dps. that problem could be solved through e.g. drawing such cards)

They're taking incremental measured steps when adding or changing aspects. If something's broken then they're pretty quick to fix it, otherwise it seems like the old adage if it ain't broke don't fix it is king, and it's been working very well so far. It's a diamond goose. You handle it with care. If you don't know by now then it might interest you that they have an MMO game as well, so those 3 minutes of explaining "what multiplayer games are good for" of an intro to your video is a bit superfluous. Players are constantly "I like this event- they should expand on it" and "I like that event- this should be endgame". MHY seem to understand exactly what their game is about, who it's for and where they want to take it going forward. As long as it's doing well you can only hope for small conservative tweaks.

Another huge problem with coop on mobile is that trying to type is absolutely atrocious. It stretches the keyboard very awkwardly and the send button doesn't work quite right. I just stopped using coop on mobile at this point because it's so hard to communicate with the people I'm with.
