Mr. Tony, for a travel set up, provided the TSA didn't give me any grief and I didn't loose my travel bag and no one stole anything, would be my Ascension Select razor from Phoenix Shaving, Tabac shave stick, Astra green razor blades, Cremo (as a preshave) and mysterium serum from Phoenix shaving and a scented balm of some sort.
@@averageguytested The Ascension Select, from PAA, has a zamac head and a stainless steel handle and a stainless steel flair tip, there is also a full 100% 316L stainless steel Ascension, a copper Ascension and an aluminum one, I think. They're great razors. I have the Select and the stainless steel versions. Hands down my favorite razors in my collection.
I love a good Harry's shave!!! Very close and very sharp! With Harry's, just take your time or you can get a little nicked up, you are correct. I need to try that new EDGE shave gel.... Just FYI, Gillette labs has made a new " Sharp White" exfoliating razor, it's pretty cool.
Update: I received my Harry’s razor on the 24th and started shaving with it on the 25th. Subtracting out a few days when I did not shave, I have gotten at least 9 days of shaving out of the first cartridge. I guess you could say I am a bit of a cheapskate, but this is how I roll. I have ordered a bunch of replacement cartridges. Shouldn’t need another order for a very long time. I am a believer now.
I love the Harry’s product. Super sharp and requires proper technique- not like most of the cartridge razors these days that feel like bumper cars. Thanks for watching 👋🏽
I was also travelling and picked up Harry's to give them a try with the regular handle and their shave cream. Coming from gillette, I've nicked myself a few times and the blades go dull quicker. The harrys shaving cream is not great with their own razors either.
Yeah - if you love Gillette you probably won’t like Harry’s right away. It takes better technique and patience to use Harry’s, but once you get that down it’s pretty enjoyable and closer to a DE experience.
Years ago when DSC came out I had them for a few years until Amazon basically copied the design for cheaper. But you had to dig. I just tried Harry’s for the first time and you’re right. Let the razor do the work! It’s nice to not have to dig! You do have to be careful though! I do like having universal cartridges aswell! You should check out Harry’s aluminum free deodorant! It smells great!

I have had enough of the Gillette Mach 3. This last two rounds of cartridge replacements has convinced me they are dull faster than ever before. Although I hate to switch, Harrys seems like a no brainer at the right price point. I have been using a beaver brush and dove soap to lather up (cheap and effective). I have a straight razor but have not used it in years. I guess what I am trying to say is, I deserve better than Gillette and watching your review pushed me over the edge (lol). Thanks for giving us the average Joe perspective.
No - I meant to say organic as opposed to mechanical. The rubber straps on the razor head have a more organic (natural) feel than a hinged pivot. Thanks for watching 👋🏽
My Harry is my travel or shower shave. My I don't want to make a mess of the bathroom shave is my Norelco One shave. My premium shave is my Leaf Twig. Old Spice forever.
I'm happy with my Gillette Mach 3 Turbo I buy for $1.30 each at Costco. My deodorant I use Every Man Jack scent Fresh from Whole foods that's also aluminum free. I wouldn't use Harry even if it was Free. The owners of Harry's don't even believe in the product after selling the company!!
