My daddy always played your music Charlie we had brilliant Spanish friend's we learnt so what to sing dance a little bit. Thank you. Much Joy to our home...
This is featuring the grease band, Alan Spenner on bass. They recorded the original Jesus Christ Superstar around this time. Great find, been looking for this!!!!
Man, I was there. I know, people say that, but I was. It was the last Fillmore concert for me b4 the Army, Vietnam, etc. Joe, Country Joe and Country Weather, if I remember correctly.. Thanks for the great recordings!
Amazing. And I thought the live version I've heard all these years with him singing it a half step higher sounded good. Imagine my surprise to find this version a whole step up.
@Vult Cult Yes, I wonder why they raised the key. It doesn’t sound like he’s very comfortable in it. I also always wondered why Leon Russell raised “Something” for the Mad Dogs tour; once again it didn’t sound like Joe felt too good singing it that high.
@@chillertheater My thoughts exactly. Joe appears to be straining his voice on "Something" on the Mad Dogs tour, whereas on other live versions his soulful voice & beautiful phrasing are to the fore! He was much better off with The Grease Band!
The documentary of his life shows how he was a real gentle person and a real genius. Respect you mr. Joe! (R.I.P.)
yes he was!
Joe Cocker - vocals; Neal Hubbard - rhythm guitar; Henry McCullough - lead guitar, background vocals; Chris Stainton - piano, organ, background vocals; Alan Spenner - bass, background vocals; Bruce Rowland - drums
Dennis Firmger Thanks!
I don't think Neil Hubbard is featured on this one. He joined the Grease Band a couple of years later!
@@stwads Joe and the Grease Band toured together www.cv.org/joe-cocker-and-the-grease-band/fillmore-west-october-19-1969.html
Only 1 guitar ( McCullough) and Stainton only plays piano on this.
