Ever wonder how to replace a Jewel case? Wonder no more! Enjoy the music? 8bit retro soundtrack for game You can purchase this song here bit.ly/1nEn54i
Thanks, Retro Fix! Having burned several CDs for a friend, I wanted to photocopy the original CD labels to insert in empty CD cases. So there I was, having to open the original cases AND the new cases. Taking the cases apart by the "bending the corners" method took forever and ran the risk of cracking the case (or breaking a nail). I seemed to recall there was an easier way! Searched "how to replace a jewel case" and found your friendly video. Saved me about an hour. And by the way, someone was wondering where to purchase empty CD cases....? I found them in a dollar store in packs of 10.
Thank you!! I just bought an important CD for my collection and the seller didnt tell me the case was cracked. You saved my day! 😍 and ngl I actually was clueless on opening up a jewel case. I know I tried as a kid for shits and giggles but only broke the thing lol. So this was helpful!
This is the more helpful than the other video I saw, esp. the part 1:16~1:26 (the other video didn't use the pen for those tiny holes and I was clueless). Thank you very much! I replaced a damaged case this way.
Wow I didnt even know about the pencil/pen trick. I just removed the right side of the tray then removed the left side too. No wonder that was a way the replacement cases broke. Im using this trick from now on. Thanks!
Thanks so much! I didn't take very good care of my PS1 games when I was little and while the discs are all in excellent condition the cases are all crunched. Now I can make them look presentable again!
I agree with using a pen to open the tray. But you dont need to open the front casing from the back, you can actually open the tray without removing the front casing.
Using a pen guarantees you won't break it by "bending it a little". On your second point, what if it's cracked? Then you will have to "remove the front casing from the back". I show in this tutorial how to properly take the whole thing apart. That's the point of the video.
That's what I do.I put the cracked or broken part of the disc case in a recycling bin,and find a replacement for it.When I got 100 cd cases last year around Xmas for free.
You can go to a thrift shop and if any of the cds have the disc(s)missing, you will only be charged for the case itself.Recycle the cracked or broken case.
omg tyyyyyy I have 3 lady gaga cds with the front cases either cracked or chipped on the top and bottom left and I've been wanting to see if I can fix it
Would i be better off just buying cheap ps1 games and switching out my expensive games and inserts? are can buying off brand cases be good enough? i want to someday get my games graded and can the people who grade tell the difference between original ps1 cases and off brand? What i want to know is are off brand cases different in any way from original ps1 cases?
The ones I ordered from a random seller on ebay (years ago) were pretty identical as far as I could tell. With "Graders" and that whole Scam (my opinion lol) they might have something specific they know about to point out an aftermarket Jewel case. I'm just guessing at that though. There's basically no difference from a "run of the mill" music cd case and a ps1 cd case. That's what I noticed back before I filmed this so I ordered a set of 2 CD Jewel cases off of ebay and the rest is history.
I looked up cd cases on eBay back when I made this. I scrutinized the pictures to make sure I was ordering the type of jewel cases I wanted. Pretty much everything I saw was generic with no brand name so good pics from the seller helps. You can also ask the seller any questions you have before you buy.
This is sad, never replace an original case, original cases are far better than replacement cases. Keep the originals! You decrease the value of the game!
When the original CD cases are practically smashed, cracked and (or) severely scuffed, it degrades the value to replace the plastic case? I don’t think so. 😂 I would wager It keeps value. Possibly Someone may dock a couple “points” if they can even tell that it’s a replacement case. A damaged case would loose value. On a related note: I rather enjoy my Spiderman game case that doesn’t have large cracks running through it anymore and I can’t even tell the difference between the quality of the CD case builds.
@@arupastel Not on me, actually I feel that I don't have the complete original thing, for sale I can sell it with a replacement case because I don't care what happens with that CD, but for my collection I clearly prefer the original case.
My favourite The Cure's CD finally doesn't look as if it had some sort of a traumatic experience, thanks a lot!
disintegration ?
@@6mega Haha yeah. It's simply a masterpiece!
Excellent, although it is a good representation of a fan of The Cure.

Broke em every time
The same thing happened to me today! 🔥
But I'm still happy about the CD.
Yo the trick that you use a pen and press into the tiny holes helped me a lot, I was struggling to take it out, thanks man

Thank you so much for taking the time to tell me that. It makes my day when I find out something I did helped out somebody.
This is cool, I got a CD and I'm afraid of it arriving broken, I'll save this for the future

I ordered CD and it came cracked. U really helped me, thank you so much!❤️
I started up a physical media business. This helps heaps.
Thanks so much.

I brought a CD jewel case and it was cracked
U saved my day 😻✨💗
This is great! Please please recommend where you get your replacement cases from???
When I did this video I ordered through eBay. eBay is pretty much my go-to but I’ll also check Amazon as well. Thanks for commenting!

You dont need the pen. Just bend it a little, the middle part will come out easily. Also no need to detach the front casing from the back.

no it won't crack. i'm a cd collector myself and never experience any cracks from doing that.
I agree, never broke it by using that method.

What type of cd jewel case do you buy is there a brand to choose from? I am looking for some for my rap cds I have.

What are this small semi circle thing cd case both sides front and back
Thank you very much!!
Doesn't work for me. I somehow can't perform the pen step. Or my CD case is unusually stiff.
Some cases may require some excessive/ albeit gentle ‘convincing’ to coax the case free from itself.
thanks a bunch!
Thanks!
Can u do whit digipak please?
Does IT also Work with Eminem CD's?
THANK YOU!
You made look easy but Its not
Its so easy!
Thank you
NEEDED A TUTORIAL FOR REPLACING A JEWEL BOX????
Jewel box?
Hey where do you get those PS1 Jewel case?
Got mine off of eBay. Just make sure you get the right type if they’re not clearly labeled for ps1.
@@RetroFix hey man thanks a bunch and keep up the good work👍🏿
thank youuu!!!!!
I didn't know about using the pen, that is cool. My question is where to buy the jewel cases?
You can only use a PS4 pen though, lol... You can find Jewel cases on eBay. Thanks for the comment!
Thankyou alot
thx
Thx m8
thanks
You don't really need a pen to open a jewel case. Just use your fingers.
This is true but If you want to open one without the chance of damaging a new jewel case then I suggest using a tool to press the tabs in.
Do drugs and then you won't care about the condition of your CD cases...or maybe you should just follow the instructions in this video.
💯
Doesn't work in the slightest
It’s been working for many of the people leaving comments on this video.
People actually need a guide for this?
you'd be surprised
I just wanted to show off my PS4 pen
Lol, i dont use Jewel Cases, i just put all of my discs in a binder
I'm just here for the satisfaction of seeing the contents put into a clean scratchless jewel case
Of course. Bit of a stupid question.

I mean it is sad to have to replace a case but if you're not selling it and it's just for yourself, it's not fun to look a cracked case :(
