I hunted with a Taurus Tracker in .357 for five years. I took a doe at 60 yards with one shot. I took a buck at 70 yards, one shot. Really accurate and solid firearms. I just bought an 856 like yours for a really good price and it's a really good weapon as well.
I picked a used one up last week for $196 in my hands. Shot 150 rounds through it yesterday, and it functioned perfectly. Shot to point of aim at 15 yards with 130 gr bullets. Very satisfied with it.
Really like that one, Only want to say, when you close the cylinder, keeping the release pushed, will keep the spring loaded pin from punching a dent in the middle of the release pin 😎
efm2169 I have the three inch 856 Defender and it costs a little more than the two inch but it has a Tritium day/night front sight and Hogue grips. Mine is the black matte stainless. I got a Andicen IWB/OWB leather thumb break/snap holster for it off of Amazon. Belt loop on one side and clip on the other side. Can be worn inside or outside the pants. Really nice holster. I did add three or four stitches to the trigger guard area to snug it up a little better but its no big deal.
@@efm2169 605 is basically the same as the 856 except .357Mag and its a five shot. It might be a little large width at the cylinder for the five shot 605 because the 856 is a six shot. Also the .357Mag cylinder is slightly longer. So it might be a little tighter lengthwise. Just saw this question: Will the 605 fit a holster made for a Taurus 856? Unfortunately, it won’t, as the Taurus 856 has a slightly wider cylinder compared to the Model 605, so the 605 ends up fitting loose in an 856 holster.
I have this model and really big hands so I had to get custom Pachmayr rubber grips that moved my hand back and added full extension for my fingers to seat properly. The stock grips had me holding it with 2 fingers and one on the trigger. I love the gun now.
I bought this gun a year ago. Put a VZ Twister grip (black and grey) and a Galloway spring kit. Great revolver. Great handgun. One of my favorites. Got a high viz orange tritium sight from the Taurus website on the work bench looking forward to putting it in. Great handgun. Buy it you won’t be disappointed.
I ordered a stainless 856 last week and it came in on Firday. I'm trading a Ruger LC9s which I bought new four years ago for the 856 even up. I always wanted a 38 snubnose, now I'll have one. Thanks for the video.
@@dtreviews I am switching from semi autos to reveolvers for several reasons. One, I like the weight of a stainless revolvoer, I like a handgun to have some heft. I like metal better than plastic, I know they call it polymar, but most semi autos are plastic to me. My other reason has to do with my age and arthiritis. I have arthritis and gout in my hands quite oftern making it nearly impossible for me to load a magazine of a semi auto handgun, whereas I can always load a revolver. And thirdly, I'm a simple person who likes simple things. The operation of a revolver is pretty striaght foward and simple. Thank you for the video and thank you for your reply. Make sure you have a wonderful day..
I've had the 605 for about 4 years now, great gun for the price! I love S&W and Ruger revolvers but I don't like their hefty price tags. I've been looking to get one of these 856's for the 6th shot and with a bobbed hammer so I can throw it in a pocket for summer carry. I've carried the 605 in the pocket in the past, yes at 24 ounces I have pocket carried it, and weight is not a problem as long as you have a good belt but the hammer can get snagged at times when practicing the draw from a pocket so that's why I'm looking at the bobbed hammer in the 856 and for the price you can't go wrong.
I think a bobbed hammer will be my next one. For the price you can grab a couple of the Taurus revolvers for the price of a Smith and Wesson. Don't get me wrong, Smith's are a nice firearm! I just don't have the coin to spend that much!
Yes Taurus has came along way their one of the largest firearm manufacturers in the world they manufactured baretta and Smith & Wesson there's not many guns they have not manufactured
The best cost benefit in the market, great machine, I know the factory in Brazil, amazing structure and quality standard... they're investing a lot of money on technology and new lines , you can buy with closed eyes.
@@weirdshibainu My neighbor and I went to a gun show nearby, and he saw a table where they had Taurus wood stocke. I liked them so much I bought one for the 856, and at the next table I bought another set of wood stocks that were conveniently affixed to a Smith & Wesson M&P (pre-model 10) snub nose, manufactured in 1948. That gun is my safe-queen now. 😁
Just bought a new 856ch stainless 2 inch looks like yours without the exposed hammer. I noticed on mine the cylinder latch is not touching the side plate, there is a 1 mm gap between the latch and the side of the revolver. The latch screw is tight and not loose. Does yours have the same issue? Kind of hard to tell from the video.
Marco Valdovinos MSRP on the Taurus 856 varies from $341 up to $440 new. The street value is more like $324.36 to $379.99 new. Depends on what type of the model you get. I got my three inch 856 Defender matte black stainless for $379.99 but after NICS and taxes its right around or a little over $400. Get yourself a 1791 leather iwb holster the black soft version. It fits the revolver like a glove and won’t scuff up the revolver.

I have the same one and also the black one. That holster will ruin the finish!!!! Use a Sticky or something softer.
One of those holsters is on my purchase list!

Where's the link to the holster? What kind of kydex holster?
Great video sir. Whats your take on the Taurus model 66 7shot?
I've actually been keeping my eye out for the model 66!!! Hopefully picking one up soon! Seems like a really nice shooter!
I have the Concealed hammer version and like it
Funny, but the grip is about the only thing about the gun I dislike. I replaced it with a set of wooden stocks, and like the gun a whole lot better.
It's nice the option is there to customize it!
Did the same thing with mine. I've just resigned myself to the fact I'll need to modify or change grips no matter how much I pay for a sidearm.
