Are you disconnecting the green wire from the regulator and grounding it? Or just grounding it while still hooked up? Thx.

Dumb question. Are you shorting the regulator or generator side of the wire? Thanks!

So just to understand it, you disconnect the green wire that comes from the generator to the Voltage regulator I pull it from the VR and ground it out right. If it jumps up high to around 16,17 and if it’s good what will happen ? Sorry just want to understand it better

I'm working on a 03 ezgo with the 2 cyl robin
Pulse coil at 20.9 ohm, coil primary at 3.6 ohm secondary
is 21.8 ohm ( out of spec, but both new ones also out at 17.7 & 18.9 out the box)
All grounds replaced and getting ground.
New ignitor (3 actually, but 2 from different year )
    New voltage regulator.
    New solenoid.
Still no spark. Cranks, but no spark.
Even checked to make sure battery didn't somehow switch polarity.
I have run 12v through each individual wire, wiggling and jiggling the wire to see if there was any loss of voltage. Nothing.
Replaced all connectors, and still no spark.
Any recommendations on a fix from anyone would be greatly appreciated!!!!

LEE BAKER, I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND IT WAS BAD CHEAP IGNITION PARTS FROM AMAZON. LESSON LEARNED THERE WAS SPEND THE MONEY AND BUY BETTER QUALITY FROM PLACES LIKE NIVEL.

@@gn5673 I am just unclear what to even ask for. This cart has no name plate. Only sticker I can even find is an inspection sticker that says 03, but 2003 had a different ignition system all together.
I have order some "oem" ignitors from 3 different places, but they all send me the aftermarket crap.
I have given up for the time being.
I will look up Nivel. Maybe they won't send me a $30 ignitor for $150 bucks.
      It has been very frustrating

Hi dude, how do you test VR if engine will not run?

    • @1beastlydudefixbreakrepeat
      @1beastlydudefixbreakrepeat  5 лет назад

That I'm not sure of, though the engine running would be more important than the vr

I have a gas golf cart that I can't figure out! I've replaced the voltage regulator which looks like it has two and installed a car battery and it runs half the day but ends up running the battery down and quits! I recharge battery and does again! I'm stumped! HELP lol

Try checking your generator, other than that its a process of eliminating what's is not working. May just be a matter of going down the chain, start at generator, should get around 30v with it disconnected next the regulator, should be switching quickly between 30 an battery voltage....you having two sounds odd maybe try finding out what each goes to.

Another thing when the key is off the motor will turn over and reverse but won't start but will continue to turn the motor over with the key in the off position which is weird

Not the same as new ones, they are solid state ones after about 95

On the commercial units from 2006 I've worked on they were still the old style. However I haven't had to work on any of the newer pds carts
