  • Lately, my channel has exceeded 100,000 video views and although I do know that there are channels with lots more views I'm proud of having achieved this and therefore I dedicate this video to all regular visitors of my channel and especially to those who continually support it by watching, commenting and liking! Thank you all!
    And now for the video:
    Having had the great chance to capture the only existing An-225 - which happens to be the largest active aircraft in the world - air-to-air ( • A Plane Spotter's Drea... ), knowing it had already visited Leipzig/Halle airport (LEJ/EDDP) three times this year (2015) and taking into account that the weather I shot this in was rather dull, windy and rainy, one could think filming this airplane would be a mere matter of duty for me. Far from it! The 'Mriya' simply doesn't cease to amaze me. With its 6 engines it is surely an exception and with a carrying capacity which is almost double that of a Boeing 747-8F its performance is just mind-blowing and yet it looks rather elegant.
    The 'Mriya' (english: 'dream'), registered as UR-82060, can be seen here taxiing from its parking position to runway 26L at Leipzig/Halle airport and taking off from there. After take off, watch for vortex trails emerging from the plane's flaps!

    *As you may know, the aircraft featured in this video, the only flying Antonov An-225, has been destroyed in the Russian war against Ukraine. Antonov (and in fact the Ukrainian government!) are determined to rebuild the An-225. If you want to support this, you can make a donation here:* an225fund.org/en/

      It is! The An-225 had the same engines as the slightly smaller An-124, but it had 6 instead of 4 and I have always been amazed, how much of a difference that makes when it comes to sound.

      +jahuuhuuhuu Vielen Dank!

    When I first saw the movie 2012, I was pretty sure the ridiculously huge 6 engine super jumbo jet they used to escape Las Vegas as the runway was crumbling away underneath them, was CGI. Imagine my surprise to later learn that it was real! (Or modeled to look just like a real one…)

      Мда, смейтесь дальше... Всё, что можем сделать - флаг на фюзеляже нарисовать. Год производства самолёта - 1988 - сделано в совке силами специалистов со всего совка. После развала Союза "Антонов" в течение многих лет незалэжности так и не смог возобновить производство легендарных Русланов и Мрий, несмотря на предпринимаемые попытки. Не было сделано это и в России. В производстве самолётов были задействованы сотни институтов и предприятий из многих республик Союза. Сейчас их сотрудничество невозможно. Ну что ж, кричите дальше свои кричалки и смейтесь...

    Si logran aumentar la temperatura y la cantidad de aire dentro de las turbinas, no habría estela de humo durante el despegue... No tengo dudas que son 6 potentes motores, ahora habría que aumentar la eficiencia.

    Did you film this from the observation tower near the terminal, and what focal length in mm did you use?

    • @LEJapproach
      @LEJapproach  6 лет назад +1

      Yes I did film it from there and I used a 500mm lens on a camera with a crop factor of 1.5, so it's effectively 750mm of focal length.

    Hello mate, is it better to spot in LEJ during the days of the week (Mon thru Fri) or in the weekends?

    • @LEJapproach
      @LEJapproach  5 лет назад +1

      Hi! I reckon there's no big difference. I guess Sunday sees the least traffic, but you'll need some patience every day.
      Over the day there's a low in passenger operations at LEJ around 1 p.m., so that's the time when you can go and get a coffee ;)
      Most cargo flights take off and land during the night, but you can catch interesting stuff, like an Antonov 12 or even an Antonov 124 during the day anyway. As there's a maintenance base for the big Antonovs at LEJ, you can see the latter every day, at least on the ground.
      For more detailed information on passenger flights, you can have a look at the corresponding section of the airport's website: www.leipzig-halle-airport.de/en/arrivals-and-departures-20.html

    Antonov was born in Moscow and then studied with the research team in Ukraine sent to industrialize and create jobs. An 225 was created by the Russian designer Tolmachev from Kursk. Antonov USSR in RUSSIA

    • @LEJapproach
      @LEJapproach  4 года назад +3

      I don't think the "Mriya" was designed by just one man, all by himself. In addition, designing a plane alone doesn't get it into the air, does it?
      And: Not only was _OKB Antonov_ the only design bureau outside Russia during the Soviet era, it was the only one outside _Moscow_ ! So if this is how far "industrialize and create jobs" went, I'm not impressed.
      Furthermore: Has it never occurred to you, that during the Soviet era, as many influential positions as possible have been assigned to Russians in order to facilitate keeping control over the giant state the Soviet Union was?

EVERYONE WHO HAD AT LEAST ANY ATTITUDE TO THIS AIRCRAFT (from the general designer to the test pilot) THINKED AND THINK IT IS UKRAINIAN !!! if the chief designer considered it Russian, he would call it "MECHTA", not "MRIYA" !!! and in all Soviet official documents the place of invention and construction is indicated: Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic !!! as well as one of the founding countries of the UN !!! neither the USSR nor the RSFSR, but EXACTLY the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic !!!
