If you are trying to get into metroidvania, I highly recommend picking up castlevania symphony of the night (limited run). Great serie for metroidvania, same goes for all the Metroid games.
Hollow Knight 😍 That started my entire Metroidvania passion. Islets is a beautiful cozy Metroidvania that I started playing recently too. Thank you so much for the shoutout! ❤
So happy to see a fellow VN lover picking up the best visual novel ever made - Muv Luv and Muv Luv Alternative, you’re in for a ride!! enjoy!!! i’ve read tons of novels in the past and this one is by far the best one
Wow great to hear you get into metroidvania, once you finish HK and if you love it and Silksong not release yet i suggest you to check Ori duology (Ori and The Blind Forest & Ori and The Will of The Wisp) imo, so far only ori par to HK in metroidvania.
Looking forward to the upcoming videos with all the exciting games on your list! 🙂 I'm working hard on BOTW so that I can start Tears of the Kingdom. Only thing is, it will likely take me a long time. I feel a lot of respect for people that are able to finish games so quickly. Maybe some day I'll become a fast player too
So excited to see you get into Metroidvanias! It's rapidly become one of my favorite genres, after playing Metroid Dread and loving it, I played Hollow Knight and fell in LOVE. Definitely let us know how you feel about it! It is incredibly difficult but very rewarding in my opinion. Also, thanks for the info on how to tell if you have a revised Hollow Knight cart, I had no idea!
With the exception of Hollow Knight, I've somehow never heard or played any of the games you mentioned. 😂 Speaking of Metroidvanias, two lesser-known ones I want to recommend are Tohou Luna Knights and Iconoclasts. Both are excellent in their own ways.
It would be fun to see you review older RPGs that you liked, there is a lot of games on older consoles that seem interesting, and having the viewpoint of someone with similar interest in games would be amazing! Hope you are doing well!
That's something I can look into! Making reviews on games I played awhile ago may be a bit tricky but I do have plans to revisit some games & remasters so maybe I can work something in along those lines. And thanks, the weekend has been treating me well & hope you're doing great too :)
@@orbalology Yeah, it doesn't have to be an in-dept review, more like your take on your favorite franchises and stuff, so it can be fun for you too! It will help newbies to get into this kind of content.
Odin sphere’s and Muramasa’s upgraded versions deserve to be on Nintendo Switch. Add Dragon’s Crown too! Grim Grimoire and 13 Sentinels are already there! Those games are perfect for pick up and play. And with their unique and beautiful art style, they’ll look great on the OLED.
Wow Emily you always surprise me with how much research you do on these games, was not aware of the hollow knight difference, I unfortunately own a first print run copy 😩 time to look for the patched version
You’re so right about finding time for VNs. I love them but finding the time to squeeze them in is so difficult. I really need to finish Paranorma Sight as I binged half of it one weekend 2 months back and adored it!! And now I’m worried I’ll have forgotten too much. And omg Hollow Knight yes! The atmosphere is so incredible; you’ll love it once you get to it. Anyways thanks for uploading despite ToTK having just released! Was a pleasant surprise 😊
Ayy AI:NI collector’s edition hype! I don’t have much space for big box games but was happy to make an exception for that one :) also seeing how nice transistor looks has me hyped to get my LRG Night in the Woods CE I pre-ordered, generally try not to buy from them but couldn’t resist NitW is one of my favs lol
Muv Luv Nice! just one note if you didn't know already, a "second game" unlocks after you go through the two main routes in the first one, which is muv luv unlimited, so make sure you play through that then go to alternative whenever you get around to it.
If you haven't picked up metroid dread, you should for sure. I couldn't put it down when i got it. It was easily my favorite game of 2021. Been revisiting super metroid on snes/snes online, it's a classic for sure. Also prime remastered is incredible on the switch oled.
Hollow Knight's dark tone textures made anything colored white on screen pop, so this art style could be considered the step before the transition to HD-2D graphics, so it is definitely worth having physically in the collection for historical purposes. Silk Song wont be getting HD-2D graphics which makes fans wonder what purpose this sequel will achieve... progressing the storyline, improved game mechanics, or simply nostalgia?
(I'm still playing Trails from Zero... getting there slowly... since the boyfriend moved here, we've been playing Witch on the Holy Night and I can't believe how much I am loving that game. He is a plot tease. Just when things are getting intense, he gets tired and asks if we can pause so he can sleep... it's taking all my willpower to resist playing ahead.) Are you planning on playing Apollo Justice or Dual Destinies after the first three Phoenix Wright games? They both are *so* good and the way they come together through the cases is really brilliant. (I bought Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice - mediocre - in Japanese just recently off eBay to have physical copies of the whole series... of course, it might be too late to get Dual Destines in English since the 3DS store has closed...) I have no idea how you play so many games... I am in awe that you work, collect, make videos, and manage to go through so many games. I'm loving Trails from Zero but it feels like I've been playing it forever. I'd love to play the rest of the Trails series before Reverie but there's no way I'll have time. Very impressed with Super Rare Games... I bought LIttlewood (a favourite) from them after thoroughly enjoying it via digital download and I'm so happy to have a physical copy of a game I loved so much. It's still sealed and I don't want to open it, but I want to see if I got the collector's card of my favourite character. My friend recently finished Hollow Knight and loved it... they found it hard to get into at first, but once they did, it became a favourite. I went on a NIS preorder binge for Switch and PS5 a few days ago... Edit: Oh, yeah... I also have a preorder for the Limited Run Night in the Woods collector's edition, which I'm really excited about. I missed the sellout date so I spent a fortune on it on eBay from a *grrr* scalper but I couldn't resist. It was such a memorable game for me and the collector's edition is beautiful.
I just wanted to say congrats Emily on your 1-year anniversary. I enjoy watching your videos. I've definitely recognized your growth as a content creator during the past year. Keep up the good work and ignore that haters. Hollow Knight is a must have for Switch collectors, glad you added it to your collection!
Great video! Hollow Knight is one of my favorite games ever! It’s very difficult at first, but it’s extremely rewarding when you defeat bosses, and the exploration is great! I’m also with you on totk, I’ll be occupied with that for the next month! Have fun with it!
I would appreciate a video if you have a. Summary on the things you look for and the kind of system they play on. Even if it’s for system art style ect.
I got islets, lost in play, and the spirit and the mouse from super rare recently. Unfortunately, I haven’t touched them cause tears of the kingdom has stolen all of my free time for probably a few months 💀
I really enjoyed Odinsphere when I played it recently and I would definitely recommend it for a more relaxing game. As you mentioned the AI: The Somnium Files - Nirvana Initiative, it reminded me that I really should play that one as I really enjoyed the first one.
great video as always, it was interesting to hear how much work it is getting a switch cart with the updated game when getting physical indie games. I hope your having a great weekend with Tears of the Kingdom. but also not cause I'm sad now since you used The Whereabouts of Light in the video 😥
Metroidvanias are the best! I hope you’ll love Hollow Knight. It’s interesting how much you’ve influenced me recently, I beat Bastion and Transistor right before Tears of the Kingdom released, and I am going to jump into the Trails series after TotK.
Cool to see you have Odin Sphere on the vita. I've been playing a bit of Grimgrimoire Oncemore on my Switch. It's a real time strategy game. A gem from Vanillaware. Can't wait to see your psp pickups. 👍
Gato Roboto is a fun little game, I just hope cats don’t get mech suits IRL - that would be bad! Don’t worry your not the last play Hollow knight, its been sitting unplayed on my PS4 for over a year. Sounds like you have a busy few months ahead - good luck fitting it all in.
I do like platformers, but I am usually terrible at them and is one reason why I haven't gotten much into Metroidvanias yet. Hollow Knight looks interesting though. Highlights for pickups for me are Atelier Ryza 3 and GrimGrimoire Once More. Oh... I did pick up my first visual novel, but spoilers (it will be a future video, but I don't know when).
Yay! AI The Somnium Files: nirvanA Initiative. Ryuki is one of my favourite video game boyfriends. I love the Aiba figurine, but what I really want is a figure of Tama so badly. There's an acrylic (orders closed) of her on AmiAmi but I want a full 1/7 figurine of her... I'm hoping there will be a third game in the series with a Tama collectible. I did NOT know about Amazon Warehouse before this video!
Since you play so many games, how do you keep track of the story line\characters? I can understand the switching up to keep from getting burnt out on one game. As they say, variety is the spice of life. So is there one thing which would turn you off from a game would it be keeping from buying it or you start it only to be disappointed\caught off guard? As much as I pay attention to character development and plot, graphics has to be decent enough for me to tell what is going on. For games like the Final Fantasy line, a more complex combat\game mechanics would also be a downer for me.
Oh I've been to locations in Japan - it's really great! Unfortunately we don't have any in my area but I've seen a few in LA that I should check out next time I'm there ;)
So glad you got Odin's Sphere. I solely picked it up bc I liked the box art lol, but it has quickly become one of my all time favorites =) For recent pickups, I imported FF Pixel Remaster from Play Asia and got Dokapon Kingdom Connect from Idea Factory, the latter is easily my all time favorite party game to play with my siblings.
I'm really happy to finally own it! I've heard some really great things about Dokapon Kingdom Connect even though I'm not one who often plays party games. But hope you can revisit this new one with plenty of friends & family :)
@@orbalology I definitely plan on having a local Dokapon marathon soon with my siblings =) You might want be careful, the back of the Wii version's box advertised it as the friendship destroying game and they weren't wrong lol. I'm sure you'll love it though. It's basically a massive board game with simple RPG mechanics such as fighting monsters, bosses or even other places for money, loot or simply mess with another player. I also recommend you give Fortune Street on the Wii a chance if you haven't already. It's basically Monopoly with Mario + Dragon Quest characters with a stock market mechanic that makes it a lot more interesting.
I also haven't played Hollow Knight yet, so you're not alone there, though it's one of the games that I've been meaning to. Also speaking of MetroidVanias, I really want to get Metroid Dread. I need to pick up Xenoblade 3 so I can play through 2 and get around to it and Future Redeemed. I can't think of any games that I actually picked up this month, although I did download Honkai Star Rail, and have been playing through a bit of that. I also got an email today that my copy of Ys IX for PS5 shipped today, and is getting here on Tuesday.
I can’t stop thinking about Future Redeemed. It was so good and better than expected. Glad you will be making a video discussing it. 👍👍 In the meantime, enjoy Zelda!
Future Redeemed was SO GOOD. I still have so much to process not having played the games prior to the Xenoblade Switch trilogy. But I'm hoping that ports/remasters will help correct that in the near future!
@@orbalology They have got to at least release a Xenosaga port/remaster right? If they are doing it for Baten Kaitos than surely Xenosaga is next? Xenosaga is the only Xeno I haven’t played. Im really curious what the next Xeno game will be and seeing how much it will actually tie in to previous Xeno games and include them as canon or was that radio stuff at the end of FR really just Easter eggs/nods to the other games? I’m guessing it’s more than that. Also, if I remember you haven’t played X yet? If you ever have a chance to play that, it’s worth seeking out and playing and not waiting for a port. It’s a great time to be a Xeno fan! 👍
Odin sphere looks like a lot of fun. Watching your videos had me thinking about my old favorites, so tonight I’ll be playing a little Makai Kingdom!….or maybe Phantom Brave. 😅
Speaking of visual novels. I would highly recommend fetting the Utawarerumono games for vita while they're still a good price. I know you have ps4 copies but if you're like me I think you'd prefer the handheld. The cross save feature works good if you really wanna play on ps4 sometimes.
Enjoy your next month in Hyrule! :) That Transistor collector's edition does look awesome. Odin Sphere is also great but kind of soul crushing hard at times...at least on the PS2.
Fun video Emily! its funny i recently picked up hollow knight because i have never played it. I hope we both enjoy it. :) Looking forward to your Xenoblade review. Hope you have a nice zelda playing weekend.
Soy jugador de Playstation y Xbox, pero recién estoy entrando al mundo de Nintendo. Hace poco tiempo me compré mi nintendo Switch oled de Zelda y lo estoy disfrutando mucho 🙌😌
I watched your vid. Cool collections you picked up with Iva. I never played Hollow Knight. Is it harder than Cup Head.? If so I don't want to play that. I really want to play Resident Evil 4 remake. That's the 1 of the most popular games out now that everyone seems to love.
Patiently waiting for my limited run games relase of Doom Eternal. Heard that one includes an out of date version of the game on the cart but i don't 100% know just yet 🤔
future redeemed was so good! kind of sad how Nintendo has treated it. between just randomly dropping it out of nowhere, and having no physical release, seems like they just wanted to get it over with right before totk came out :(
You are in for a real treat with Odin sphere. Another really great mania styled jrpg is Wonder Labrynth. It's based on the record of lodoss anime with one of its main and longest running characters deedlit. And psp, try and find Breath Of Fire 3. It's the best way to play that title and the breath of fire series I don't think ever got enough love. I get my tears tomorrow. Ohboyohboyohboy Till next week, eh? Great pick ups.
Oh cool, I'll have to give Wonder Labyrinth a look! Breath of Fire 3 is one of the rpgs on my PSP wish list! Hopefully I can find a good import copy of it :)
I have the Hollow Knight collector's edition. Collecting for Switch is so easy. I miss being able to buy games for other consoles like the 3DS, or the GameCube without needing a whole paycheck.
hollow knight in my opinion is the best indie game ever made... then maybe Omori maybe( i recommend you so much this game ). About Xenoblade Chronicls 3 DLC( best dlc ever made and one of the best ''games'' this year, so amazing) PS: you are so nice :D have a good weekend.
Odin sphere is amazing, the different character stories are brilliant, enjoy.
I'm really looking forward to finally diving into the game. I've also been eyeing some figures, so there may be a potential problem in the future 😂
Yeah Graphically it looked amazing during the ps2. Haven't checked on the top remaster.
Yeah that game is amazing. People, if you haven't already, go play it. It's a MUST play I swear
If you are trying to get into metroidvania, I highly recommend picking up castlevania symphony of the night (limited run). Great serie for metroidvania, same goes for all the Metroid games.
Shantae Half-Genie Hero is a great Metroidvania! Fun, colorful and addicting!
Ender Lilies and the Record of Lodoss War game on switch are both great metroidvanias.
Both wonderful games, I’d add Bloodstained Ritual of the Night to that list

Also, if I remember you haven’t played X yet? If you ever have a chance to play that, it’s worth seeking out and playing and not waiting for a port.
It’s a great time to be a Xeno fan! 👍
Great pickups Emily. I love shopping from AMZ warehouse too.
Thanks, Bobby! AmazonWarehouse can have some amazing deals sometimes :)
Odin sphere looks like a lot of fun. Watching your videos had me thinking about my old favorites, so tonight I’ll be playing a little Makai Kingdom!….or maybe Phantom Brave. 😅
It's always fun to revisit some old favorites. Enjoy!! 😄
Hope you enjoy Hollow Knight it's pretty good. I'd say my best pickup recently was a pikachu n64.
I hope so too! And congrats on getting a Pikachu n64! I always thought that was a fun version to own :)
@orbalology much appreciated. The pikachu n64 is peak 90s pokemon.
Excellent video Emily. Wish I picked up a Vita when they were still available new.
Speaking of visual novels. I would highly recommend fetting the Utawarerumono games for vita while they're still a good price. I know you have ps4 copies but if you're like me I think you'd prefer the handheld. The cross save feature works good if you really wanna play on ps4 sometimes.
I may have to look into that, thanks for the suggestion :)
Don't worry, I haven't played Hollow Knight yet either. But I do own the physical copy. I'm looking forward to playing it.
Enjoy your next month in Hyrule! :) That Transistor collector's edition does look awesome. Odin Sphere is also great but kind of soul crushing hard at times...at least on the PS2.
I hear the remake has a few changes to make it not as difficult as the original PS2 version. But we'll see how it goes 😂
I can't wait to hear your review on hollow knight
Fun video Emily! its funny i recently picked up hollow knight because i have never played it. I hope we both enjoy it. :) Looking forward to your Xenoblade review. Hope you have a nice zelda playing weekend.
Haha, it'll be funny if we both end up hating it but I'm optimistic it'll go the opposite way :)
Hope you have a great Zelda filled weekend too!
❤
Soy jugador de Playstation y Xbox, pero recién estoy entrando al mundo de Nintendo.
Hace poco tiempo me compré mi nintendo Switch oled de Zelda y lo estoy disfrutando mucho 🙌😌
Awesome pickups, I love my psvita . Great content 👌👌👌
Thank you! :)
What do you do for work to afford this volume of pickups?
Awesome games! You will love them!
Thank you! Really looking forward to getting to these 😄
Dang nice pickup, specially odin sphere on the vita, I'm still hoping I get one at some point.
Hope you can snag a good deal on it in the near future too :)
I love Gato Roboto. 😼 I just bought Narita Boy and I think I am gonna go play that tonight in a bit. Great pick ups, by the way. 🙃
Enjoy Narita Boy! :)
@@orbalology I did and thank you. Tried a few games and that was one of them, before deciding what to play for the next few or even better, weeks.
I hope you let us know when a revised tears of the kingdom drops! One week in and already 2 patches...sigh, makes the cart worthless.
Great video as usual. I’m waiting on my copy of Zelda to come in the mail.
Hope your copy arrives to you soon!!
Awesome video. Not sure if you will like it but it’s a great game. Slain for the switch.
Odin sphere!! Oh man I loved that game! I think I spent way to many hours on that! It’s so good! 🤩
Glad to hear!! I can't wait to dive in 😊
@@orbalology wait till you hear the opening theme! 😍
I watched your vid. Cool collections you picked up with Iva. I never played Hollow Knight. Is it harder than Cup Head.? If so I don't want to play that. I really want to play Resident Evil 4 remake. That's the 1 of the most popular games out now that everyone seems to love.
❤😂
Cool stuff 🔥🔥
Thanks:)
Patiently waiting for my limited run games relase of Doom Eternal. Heard that one includes an out of date version of the game on the cart but i don't 100% know just yet 🤔
Oh I hope they ship it out soon! Recently I've had limited run game packages show up unexpectedly at my door without any tracking alert emails.
Well!! I strongly recomend you to play Blasphemous! I love it!
Odin Sphere and Dragon's Crown for the Vita = a great meal. Have fun 😊😊😊
I most definitely will :)
I also own hollow knight but havent played it. Which I can say for a lot of my collection 😂
Great pick ups.
Haha, someday we'll finally understand the hype 😂
future redeemed was so good!
kind of sad how Nintendo has treated it. between just randomly dropping it out of nowhere, and having no physical release, seems like they just wanted to get it over with right before totk came out :(
You are in for a real treat with Odin sphere.
Ohboyohboyohboy
Till next week, eh? Great pick ups.
Oh cool, I'll have to give Wonder Labyrinth a look! Breath of Fire 3 is one of the rpgs on my PSP wish list! Hopefully I can find a good import copy of it :)
I have the Hollow Knight collector's edition. Collecting for Switch is so easy.
I miss being able to buy games for other consoles like the 3DS, or the GameCube without needing a whole paycheck.
I may have avoided the GameCube entirely for this very reason😅
I hope to play Hollow Knight soon; I really want the Fangamer Collector's Edition!
For the next the 5 weeks I plan on playing Zelda then getting ffxvi
hollow knight in my opinion is the best indie game ever made... then maybe Omori maybe( i recommend you so much this game ). About Xenoblade Chronicls 3 DLC( best dlc ever made and one of the best ''games'' this year, so amazing)
PS: you are so nice :D have a good weekend.
Hope you have a fantastic weekend too :)
Record your Zelda TOTK gameplay. I would watch it !!
I unfortunately don't have a capture card at the moment, but it's something I'm looking to correct soon!
You should play Ori 1 and 2 !! My favorite metroidvania ever
I have the nice collector's edition from iam8bit but I need to get around to playing them someday 😂😅
