      SoCalHerps If I was to get a smaller snake I think I'd do Hognoses. Just wish you guys would send to England, you'd be the first person I'd go to.

    • @ThePhotocaddy
      @ThePhotocaddy  8 лет назад

      +Futterguy With all the adult hognoses in brumation you would be seeing a lot of empty tubs ;) Once everyone is out and warmed up you will see a full reptile update.

    Is that definitely a toffee?
    It didn't have a toffeebelly or the toffee colour, looked like a light normal.

      +Ze Germanz Yes this are toffee bellys.

    I breed ball pythons and I'm looking into hogs but what temperatures do you keep your hogs at regularly?

    • @ThePhotocaddy
      @ThePhotocaddy  8 лет назад

      90 degrees on the hot side and 80 degrees on the cool side. We keep the room at 80 degrees

  • @JFCMsnakes
    @JFCMsnakes 8 лет назад

    Why do you keep them in the wine cooler? I get its something to do with breeding but what specificallydoes it do?

    • @ThePhotocaddy
      @ThePhotocaddy  8 лет назад

      Hognoses go through a brumation period naturally. By cooling them we are simulating that time of year. It also conditions them for the breeding season. Females start developing egg follicles and males develop sperm.

    • @JFCMsnakes

      +SoCalHerps Okay thank you, I have a hatchling albino hognose named Peaches. Im never going to breed her but would you recommend i put her into brumation (when she's the right size and age) anyway because its more natural? Or is it not needed if you're not going to breed them?

    • @ThePhotocaddy
      @ThePhotocaddy  8 лет назад

      +JFCMsnakes If you don't plan on breeding then you don't have to brumate her. Sometimes hognoses will go off food during the winter months on their own and do their own brumation.
