    Norman as the father is perfect. As you start your journey, he tells you "[Player] I'm so proud you decided to start you own Pokemon Adventure. Although I am a Gym Leader, I will not battle you until you collect the other 7 badges of Hoenn. I cannot think of anyone more fitting than your own father as your final test before challenging the Pokemon League."

    I think you should swap Flannery's Houndoom for a Ninetales that you can find has a Vulpix on that island mountain with a cemetery on top. (I obviously forgot it's name)
    Anyways, Ninetales is avaiable so swap this intruder dog now! (Edit: i remembered the name of the mountain it's called Mt.Pyre)
    Also, Lanturn is also avaiable in Hoenn while Electabuzz ins't so yeah, give my man Wattson a truly obtainable partner.

    Well by swapping Pelipper for Tropius you eliminate an Electric weakness but swap it for a 4x Ice Weakness on 2 of her mons. If the gyms r still in the same places as normal, then Spheal just became a premium mon, even with a Grass weakness

      And uhm, actually, Torchic is better in the reverse order because it evolve into a Combusken that turns that single type, into a dual fire-fighting type, so your wrong saying that you need to catch a fighting type Pokemon because you already have one. (there are 3 imaginary nerd emoji's here)

  • @zbl28

    I'm glad (for the most part) most teams are ALL Hoenn pokemon based without other region substitutes. I think Brawley didn't need two other region pokemon (even though we were out of other Hoenn based fighters), but at that level of the game, and the design, I would have subbed out Hitmontop for Metagross as Metagross has these four, built arms which look just as menacing as a large fist or muscled body. For Wally, although I understand the team chosen is more in line with his original game counterpart, there's three Pokemon that have already been used by previous gym leaders, making it seem like we are out of options when we aren't. Bc Wally represents the color green, I would swap out the normal type Delcatty (already used for Norman), for the normal type Kecleon, keeping the normal typing but introducing a unused Pokemon to a leader's team, plus it's green to match Wally. Next, for Altaria (already used for Winona), I would swap out for Flygon, another unused leader Pokeon, another dragon type and another green Pokemon. As for Magneton, even though it's not green, I would swap in to spotlight Shedinja, as it would come as a surprise for his character, plus Shedinja is quite unique, and Wally doesn't have a Bug or Ghost on his team yet. Finally, after thinking hard, I would redo Wattson's mentioned Kanto Pokemon to other Hoenn types. I think his second double battle team (after Plusle and Minun) could include Volbeat (even though a Bug type, it has the ability to light up and shine that light in various forms, and electricity is a form of light. Plus Volbeat hasn't been spotlighted yet.) Volbeat's partner could be Illumise since the two are often seen as a pairing already, but I think for a third Elite Four Member that two small mice, two bugs and one dog could be interpreted as a 'what the heck am I looking at?' vibe. SO instead of Illumise, (even though it works great for the double battle concept with Volbeat), for motif or style purposes, I would give the 6th spot to Linoone or Swalot since either can learn a few electric type moves. Linoone has the stripes that could be pulled off as lightning bolts, and Swalot has the facial hair and big mouth that Wattson has when he laughs, which might be pushing it lol.

  • @alexandersmith8547

    Norman should swap out Castform for his Linoone - that pokemon with Belly drum is so scary and the weather only buffs move in the sun and rain - sandstorm and hail dont buff rock/ice moves unless the pokemon has the right ability

    Reminder that no region's official Elite Four exists as a specialist in Normal, Electric, Grass, or Fairy. Although we have Lacey as a Fairy-type specialist, her position is that in a school's league rather than a region's.

    @tdhhellian7509 8 месяцев назад +6

    Norman with protein keckleon instead of delcatty, and having simple beam on something else with skill swap to help his slaking get rid of truant would be a cool strategy as the 8th gym leader. I can't think of which pokemon would fit that role, but he needed more on his team anyways as the final leader.

    I would really dig these types for E4. Fire, Electric, Fighting, Rock. Normally E4 types are pretty obscure types to prey on player’s unfamiliarity with the set or utilize utility. Common ones are dragon, dark, ghost, psychic. The fact that hard hitters like Fire, Electric, and Rock are in the mix pretty diverse and exciting

    I know that this is the Gen 3 gym leaders video and not the Gen 4 gym leaders video. But I feel that Candice and Maylene should swap their Sneasel and Machoke. After all it would be a really nice way to subtly convey that the two of them are friends. It just makes the world feel like stuff happens without the player around. During their initial match they have their Weavile and Machoke swapped. So that Candice can fair better against Steel and Rock types, while Maylene now has a better chance against Psychic and Flying types. Then when you rematch them it could be right after the two of them have traded their Pokémon back so now they are fully mono type again. You could even have them challenge the player to a double battle upon entering the battle resort.
    While Flint and Valkner could perhaps do some really cool double battle after you beat their respective gyms (with Flint replacing Maylene and Valkner Fantina in this swapped Sinnoh gym leaders scenario). This could be done as a way for them to test the player and see if they are ready to face the remaining 3 gym leaders as well as prep them for the abundance of double battles that you have during the Mt. Cornet segment of the story.
    As for your Hoenn gyms swapped I think it’s really cool. Perhaps for a hypothetical Emerald version to coincided with this being Ruby and Sapphire. Norman is now the Champion with Steven Stone acting as the new 8th gym leader. Wally is now an optional super boss, and Juan is now a second double battle gym with Wallace.
    As for the gym leaders new teams to try and match how Emerald balanced things. The only team I would really change would be Drake, and that would be giving him;
    Lv. 12 Trapinch
    Lv. 12 Swablu
    Lv. 15 Bagon
    For most of the others they work perfectly fine as is even if an Emerald version tried to improve upon their teams the most that you would have to do would be move set changes.
    Though since I am now making Juan and Wallace a Double Battle, I should probably mention the teams for both.
    Wallace would have the two team members of;
    Lv. 29 Wishcash
    Lv. 31 Milotic
    Juan would add to the team with;
    Lv. 29 Crawdaunt
    Lv. 30 Seadra
    I think throwing a Kingdra and Milotic at the player as the 5th gym would be overkill. As such I instead decided that it would be better if they had a underleveled Crawdaunt and Wishcash, in exchange for not having to deal with the tankiest Gen 3 water type, and a Pokémon with only one weakness.
    Idk, I really like your concept and can’t wait to see the Sinnoh video.

    Limitations create Creativity. I would prefere not to use Starters, and Pokemon from other Regions for Flanery, cause Hoenn stricktly does not use Starters different from other Games, and Ninetales is good enough. And yeah that makes her Team very low Power, but so was the original first Elite Four anyway.
