    Got mine at the beginning of the year, have 40+ hours on it. Very nice little motor. Pushes my ‘14 aluminum v-Hull at 16 mph with me and all my gear in it. The thing that amazes me is the fuel economy! And yes, it’s quiet!

    • @ErickMartinSucre
      @ErickMartinSucre  2 года назад

      Massive difference l, yes. You could also try a smaller pitch propeller. In my case, my 6hp Tohatsu came with a 7.8x8 propeller, but when I installed a 7x8x7 prop, it makes the boat plane quicker and with a person with me. Getting a 9.8hp outboard is a sure thing though.

    Also, would you consider a 20hp in your 10ft? My 6hp is not cutting it for my 10ft either and I’m gonna get a 9.9. Thing is it’s the same weight as a 20 hp, so am tempted. However i do not want to be stupid with the power... likely to have 2.5 people on board

    • @ErickMartinSucre
      @ErickMartinSucre  3 года назад

      Oh, I see why the 6hp was not enough. It is best suited for one person. Now, if you plan on getting the 9.9 and you can afford the 20, get the 20. You'll be cruising at half throttle most of the time anyway.

    • @ErickMartinSucre
      @ErickMartinSucre  3 года назад

      Yes! I'm keeping the 6hp so I can use it on the Kaboay but will use this one when I use the dinghy.

    It's more important to vary speeds and no lugging of the motor during break in. Running for 2 hours at one speed is the worse thing you can do.

      Oh yeah, I spent the entire day doing the break-in, I just happen to turn it into a camping trip. I was exhausted after the fact,whew.

    dude , change oil after you brake in motor. all that metal shaving will damage the motor if left in the oil.

      Oh yeah, 10 hours in and I changed it, even made a video of it.

    So from a 10hp you went to a 6hp back to a 9.8hp? Agree I went from a yamaha 6hp to a mercury 9.8hp, so much smoother and better, though heavier to carry...

    Yeahhhhhhh I have a 10.5 foot dinghy and my 5hp just does nothing for it 🤦🏻‍♂️ one day I’ll save money for a 9.8 - 15. From your videos it looks like a 9.8hp would be plenty.

      Oh yeah. It has plenty of power and it is the happy medium. 10-15hp outboards are also heavier. I manage to get 19mph on a recent test I did.
