@@888mf4 If one could squeeze another 60 - 100 Bhp out of that motor (bigger injectors and/or a boost controller on the existing turbo) methinks wouldn't be impossible. They over-engineer these cars on purpose, at which point you're probably entering MClaren track time territory
ZappoTan bigger tires, different rubber will solve the traction issues no problem. The mclaren 570 (for example) weighs nearly 1000 lbs more than the 4C. It’s 0-60 time is 3.2 ish seconds. As I say; another 100 bhp will easily put the 4C in Mclaren time territory. I’ll defy you to prove otherwise.
I drive it with a tune (296hp and 400nm). Also with Yokohama semi slicks. 0-100 is 3,5 seconds. Straight line performance is equal to the gt3rs from last generation. Quarter mile is 11.7 seconds. All the stories about 300+hp 4C's not beating 12 seconds: bullshit! There are a lot of tuners just throwing numbers.
Check the 3rd and 4th gear gaps it builds. I have the Giulietta QV with same engine and gearbox and the way the TcT gearbox bangs in the gears from 3rd onwards would explain why it opened those gaps!

I think a lot of journalists were disappointed by the steering, which to be fair, is awful from the factory. However there is an easy fix and it only costs £450. Once that is done the car is transformed.
Many of those reviewers are here in the US where these cars are 343lb heavier than in Europe. That's a lot considering it only deelops 237hp. In addition to that the car is very small, it feels very cramped inside and also most people find it difficult to name a 4 cylinder 1.75 liter turbo engine a supercar. The stereo they come with is like a $150 aftermarket unit they picked from the internet. Overall, it is a very nice sports car if it is your cup of tea
Listen to how high that lotus revved in 1st gear and how much it started to pull on the C4... The lotus was short shifted in every gear after that to keep it behind 😴
Great video. 4C is so underrated. I love mine. I dropped 250 lbs off the curb weight (took a lot of work) added a bespoke ecu tune, and worked on reducing drag, and it can now hit 160kph in about 8 seconds. I will be posting videos soon. Great car. Forza Alfa!!!
@@inSUBout a lot of work. technocraft t2 prepreg carbon seats with fixed aluminum mounts, the hood, rear clamshell and glass replaced with carbon, ditched all non essential interior trim including stereo airbags carbon doorcards and kickplate replaced the engine undertray with carbon fiber copy, lightweight battery, removed rear trunk, advan rsii wheels, nitron r3 coilovers, titanium downpipe and full exhaust, and the list goes on.... check out my insta account @alfaromeo4c_r for some pics of the build but its still a work in progress.
This is a great lesson for those who think Horse power is everything in a race it’s not. Good driver, tires and weight means a lot. My QV has beaten cars with twice they amount of Horse power then it’s own love these cars. And please stop talking about reliability, these new Alfa’s are solid comparing to the Alfa’s of old. Yes I did have minor computer glitches yes computer glitches easily fixed, no different from my old M3 engine issues or my buddies A6 problems just saying.

4C fights above its weight. Its HP is underrated. Low gearing gets it out of the hole quick. I think the M2 was coming on at the end as the 4C was running out of breath. I got the impression the driver in the Exige wasn't even trying. First run flooded with early shifts. All the rest, I can't believe the Lotus can't win over the little Alfa (and I love the little Alfa) with a power difference of over 100bhp.

Was the lotus driving on his phone? He didn’t leave the line until the others had gone. The Lotus is 3.8 and the alpha 4.5 so how could it win? I’m thinking the videos was biased so the presenters car won a medal. I’d like to see the 4c again against the exige 350s without the driving reading a book or making a cup of tea.
Alfa is 4.1s to 60 mph official, there is also one trick which let it go faster. "In race mode, with left foot on the brake pedal, if you pull the right shift paddle the engine will rev to 3500 rpm, but if you also pull the left paddle the engine will rev to 6000 rpm and 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) time will go down to 4.2 seconds" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfa_Romeo_4C
Andys there is a launch mode on the exige in race mode. Like I said the lotus will and can beat the 4c on paper and in reality. The race was rigged because the lotus simply didn’t move and the driver was asleep. Let him re run the race, I have an exige 350s. Put his yellow 4c next to mine and we can see what genuinely happens when there’s some independent people both filming and driving. This topic isn’t even up for debate, the exige is simply quicker. It is what it is and if I were wrong ALL the car magazines and car industry would state it as fact to out sell each other’s products.
I reckon Alfa lied about the 4C performance and power... as every time I have been up against one on track... they have performed just like this. And have embarrassed way more expensive exotica. I was surprised how quick they were.
Quattroruote timed a 4C using launch control doing 0 - 100km/h in only 4.2s!! And the cars exported to the US are 158kg heavier for extra safety requirements. I think they have slightly less power as well.
Nah, she just bogged the launch and may not have realized the smoke was happening until it was too late. Understandable for even an intermediate driver with a totally unfamiliar clutch and power band that you don't have to pay so much attention to in the auto. She's a good sport and that's what counts.

Think this video was heavily biased towards the Alfa given how they go to the bother of swapping the drivers for the Beemers (which took up most of this video) and then not the main race. The driver in the Exige clearly was trying not to win with the delayed start and shortshifting. Look how fast it was realing the BMW in at the end of the first race before the footage was cut indicates to me it could clearly have won with a better driver/actually trying. The power to weight of these cars would have them placed in the exact opposite order as the Exige has over 50hp/ton on the BMW and even more on the Alfa. Slightly suspect.
About 2 years late to this video, but I own both an 4C and an M2 Competition. Fact: Alfa is a more invigorating drive, sounds 1000 percent better than the S55 and turns more heads. M2 with stage 1 tune is a bit faster, solid daily driver, fun to drift but the design is a bit dated. Lets see what the next gen brings. What I love about Alfa is manual rack and the fact at any speed the car is just more exciting. BMW has no car in it's lineup that matches the experience of an Alfa 4C.
I’m sorry but that driving was so unfair! I’m not fussed about which car won or lost but it was so unfair. The M2’s all left the time and completely different times and some were where really late off the line or just spinning the rear wheels with no throttle control to redeem traction...with proper drivers the DCT should have beaten the manual and the lotus was short shifting and really badly like he was trying to go slowly 🤷♂️
My 4C with 296hp and 400nm does 0-100 in 3.5 seconds and quarter mile in 11.7 seconds. Absolutely destroys a lot of cars. See my channel for some vids!
Noah currently full supersprint exhaust including high flow cat, Eurocompulsion intake, Eurocompulsion intercooler Hoses, custom tune. I must say changing the standard cat makes a big difference. Sound is amazing. Next step hybrid turbo and Eurocompulsion intercooler.
Love that the Alfa won. Concidering buying one myself. The lotus should have probably take this victory though with more skilled driver. About launch.. Maybe this car doesn't have it but all exige equipped with the race pack, have launch control (yes the manual version). Most cars in adds I've seen have had the race pack. It took 4 hours to film this video and we could only start at 11am as that's when the rain stopped. There was only so much we could film. I thought drag racing three M2 cars and then two races against the 4C and the Exile would suffice, but some people are just never satisfied with the content

Great video. My 4C is amazing when accelerating towards 110 mph. The TCT gears and ratio have been designed between 0 to 110 mph. After that it run out of juice. I have a 987.1 Cayman with RS350 package and it destroys it after 100 mph.
888MF 7:12 after a poor launch its clearly pulling on the 4C and the M2 in the gears. And then gets shortshifted down the rest of the runway and loses. Second race the driver misses third.

The Lotus has very tall gearing which is why it is slow out of the blocks and nothing to do with the driver. I am surprised how quick the 4C is in stock form as I personally did not find it that fast when I test drove one. That's why I remapped mine from alfaworks immediately after buying the car and it's a proper weapon 😁
Lotus has the best power to weight ratio, followed by the Alfa and then the BMW. The alfa and the BMW have electronic launch control systems and gearboxes. So the Lotus is harder to launch of the line. Driver also miss-shifted a gear. Theoretically, the Lotus can win.
The Lotus apparently has a short shift for 1st but like you say, theoretically. The Lotus had two opportunities and didn't come close. It is much easier to launch both the Alfa 4C and the BMW M2. So in the real world both are faster off the line.
The m2 comp smokes the other m2’s because the extra hp. You can see the manual m2 gets the jump because he can drive manual well plus the 100lbs diff and then the m2 comp pulls ahead because of that extra hp. I love my 2 series and will deff have a 235 next

Isn’t it just. There is no way that Exige was being driven anywhere near its full potential lol. I know it has a short ratio box but not that short 🤣 I have just an S1 NA long ratio Evora and it would have launched all over that Exige 350 💯% when that should not be the case figures wise. Though i do not have the 🙄 clutch delay valve as it’s an early model, so hard launching on the ‘right’ tyres delivers every time. 1st & 2nd is great!
Have you any upgrades from Alfaworks? Honestly surprised that the 4C did so well. The performante had a bit of a lead off the line. The 4C is indeed a junior supercar and an exotic. Let the naysayers squawk!
I am one of the biggest Alfista in the history of the world, so no bias here at all. There is no way known that the 4C pulls away like that, especially from the Lotus ! On the launch ok, but not to pull away, this one is either tuned, or someone is not driving the lotus properly. Even the M2, no way a 4C leaves it like that ...
Had the privilege of driving a 4C once, its a wonderful car that leaves you not knowing what to think about it, lots of power, very low seated, lovely gearbox, so fast and accurate, but the unassisted steering, its kind of cool but weird at the same time. Oh, and the sound it makes from that 4 cylinder engine, my god, i love that sound, from the inside is just unbelievable how they achieved that from a 4 cylinder turbo engine. Would love to have one, but its just to damn expensive for me.

Surely the Lotus should have beaten the 4C? The 4C must be not be standard. The lotus standard has over 40bhp/tonne more so how does it get beaten by that margin? yes its manual but that doesnt explain the margin of dif. Only other reason could be the driver. Maybe cause its the video producers own 4C he fixed result.
Derekm2000 The Lotus has a lot of drag against it, generating downforce. It will brake and corner much harder than the other two but as consequence it will perform less in straight line due to massive drag.

Official times say 4.5 seconds. I think the weight advantage of the Alfa really helped it to get off the line quickly.

Then better readjust those dynos, because the engine is the same than that of the Giulietta QV, in the same state of tune, and there are remaps to 260 bhp, or 270 bhp in Stage 2 with Downpipe and intake, so absolutely no way to have 270 bhp stock. Because if 270 stock were true, then it would be 300 bhp with just a remap, and 310+ bhp with Downpipe and Stage 2, and on that engine+turbo... Weil, no. The thing is that there are always people that remap their cars and keep saying to anyone that it is stock... I know a few of them. I've also seen VW Scirocco 2.0TSI 180, being stock dynoed at 212 bhp and even up to 222 bhp LOL (and then, not winning against a 100% stock 2.0TSI 200). Not to mention that 235 official --> 270 real means a +15% increase, and that would not pass european homologation rules, with such a big difference from quoted figures. Don't get me wrong... I like the 4C a lot, but I tend to be suspicious when I see magical results in drag races...
@@fernandofragoso4118 Remember that in tracks there are also straights... And the Lotus do very good lap times. For a car to do a good lap times on many tracks it needs to be also relatively fast in a straight line. Downforce limits the speed a bit, but not such extent as seen in the video. A 991 GT3RS is still massively fast in staright line performance for example
maybe they should of got a pro driver for each car because you can see in each drag race someone was late or just fucked up and then the last race was trash. that lotus driver really fucked both time in the take off. it made that alfa look lambo fast. which is weird cuz there's so many videos where those exige's just walk away from those 4c's. my older model exige 260 burns those 4c's. I like the alfa but come on get better drivers where the drags are done properly.
Well i raced against many many Exige V6 on trackdays... 9/10 dont have there power and run poorly.. My modified 4c is as fast as a tuned V6 Exige with +-380HP. I clocked my car 0-100 kph in 3,4s and 100-200 kph in 9,1s.. Thats 12,5s 0-200 kph on semi slicks with +-300hp .
I noticed the comp's rear wheels where tucked so its been lowered/running coil overs. What was the suspension setup on it ? Might explain why its launch was good everytime. I know from experience the stock m2 and the comp are pretty much bang on the same performance up to 60 mph and the quarter mile time is very close. I have a feeling that comp might have had some modifications done..

By far the best drag video on your channel. Proper start and finish which wasnt the case in the past. To the whining Lotus boys its clear as day the Lotus was slower. Not just the launch but just overall lack of speed. In the first video that M2 just effortlessly steamed past on pure power. The Alfa launched better but shockingly kept pulling away. Well not really so shocking if u have driven an Exige V6 which i have done before. They simply run out of breath which makes the factory acceleration claims laughable. @@maxmuller4551 because the CArbon Fiber tube has been reinforced for accident collision, also the suspension was tweaked. Aircon, extra air bags, stock leather stitching in the interiors

Love my 2015 4C LE....and yes they are fast stock but with a few minor mods....wow. They also have proven to be pretty much bullet proof too.

This is a great lesson for those who think Horse power is everything in a race it’s not. Good driver, tires and weight means a lot. My QV has beaten cars with twice they amount of Horse power then it’s own love these cars. And please stop talking about reliability, these new Alfa’s are solid comparing to the Alfa’s of old. Yes I did have minor computer glitches yes computer glitches easily fixed, no different from my old M3 engine issues or my buddies A6 problems just saying.

that means any figures quoted by manufacturers should be taken with a huge pinch of salt. The alfa acceleration figures quoted are bullshit and in real life its more around 4.1 seconds if its causing rs3 problems

Why did the lotus short shift on the first run and then delay his launch on the second run?
4C fights above its weight. Its HP is underrated. Low gearing gets it out of the hole quick. I think the M2 was coming on at the end as the 4C was running out of breath. Can't imagine what was wrong with the Lotus. Well done mate. I love my 4C too. I don't need to do 6K rpm clutch dumps now that I've seen you do them.
Launch control in the 4C is epic and apparently doesn't kill the clutch.
Lotus has drag against it. Too much downforce. Not good for straight line. Without the wings it would be the fastest in straights.

Alfa is 4.1s to 60 mph official, there is also one trick which let it go faster. "In race mode, with left foot on the brake pedal, if you pull the right shift paddle the engine will rev to 3500 rpm, but if you also pull the left paddle the engine will rev to 6000 rpm and 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) time will go down to 4.2 seconds"

Andys there is a launch mode on the exige in race mode.
Like I said the lotus will and can beat the 4c on paper and in reality.
The race was rigged because the lotus simply didn’t move and the driver was asleep.
Let him re run the race, I have an exige 350s. Put his yellow 4c next to mine and we can see what genuinely happens when there’s some independent people both filming and driving.
This topic isn’t even up for debate, the exige is simply quicker. It is what it is and if I were wrong ALL the car magazines and car industry would state it as fact to out sell each other’s products.

Nah, she just bogged the launch and may not have realized the smoke was happening until it was too late. Understandable for even an intermediate driver with a totally unfamiliar clutch and power band that you don't have to pay so much attention to in the auto. She's a good sport and that's what counts.

Think this video was heavily biased towards the Alfa given how they go to the bother of swapping the drivers for the Beemers (which took up most of this video) and then not the main race. The driver in the Exige clearly was trying not to win with the delayed start and shortshifting. Look how fast it was realing the BMW in at the end of the first race before the footage was cut indicates to me it could clearly have won with a better driver/actually trying. The power to weight of these cars would have them placed in the exact opposite order as the Exige has over 50hp/ton on the BMW and even more on the Alfa. Slightly suspect.

About 2 years late to this video, but I own both an 4C and an M2 Competition. Fact: Alfa is a more invigorating drive, sounds 1000 percent better than the S55 and turns more heads. M2 with stage 1 tune is a bit faster, solid daily driver, fun to drift but the design is a bit dated. Lets see what the next gen brings. What I love about Alfa is manual rack and the fact at any speed the car is just more exciting. BMW has no car in it's lineup that matches the experience of an Alfa 4C.
I’m sorry but that driving was so unfair! I’m not fussed about which car won or lost but it was so unfair. The M2’s all left the time and completely different times and some were where really late off the line or just spinning the rear wheels with no throttle control to redeem traction...with proper drivers the DCT should have beaten the manual and the lotus was short shifting and really badly like he was trying to go slowly 🤷♂️
My 4C with 296hp and 400nm does 0-100 in 3.5 seconds and quarter mile in 11.7 seconds. Absolutely destroys a lot of cars. See my channel for some vids!

Hoses, custom tune. I must say changing the standard cat makes a big difference. Sound is amazing. Next step hybrid turbo and Eurocompulsion intercooler.

About launch.. Maybe this car doesn't have it but all exige equipped with the race pack, have launch control (yes the manual version). Most cars in adds I've seen have had the race pack.

It took 4 hours to film this video and we could only start at 11am as that's when the rain stopped. There was only so much we could film. I thought drag racing three M2 cars and then two races against the 4C and the Exile would suffice, but some people are just never satisfied with the content

Great video. My 4C is amazing when accelerating towards 110 mph. The TCT gears and ratio have been designed between 0 to 110 mph. After that it run out of juice. I have a 987.1 Cayman with RS350 package and it destroys it after 100 mph.
I was surprised the Exige didn't do better. But no matter, it looked like a fun time!
It has a manual gearbox so can't get off the start as quickly as the 4C which has launch control

The Lotus has very tall gearing which is why it is slow out of the blocks and nothing to do with the driver. I am surprised how quick the 4C is in stock form as I personally did not find it that fast when I test drove one. That's why I remapped mine from alfaworks immediately after buying the car and it's a proper weapon 😁

Lotus has the best power to weight ratio, followed by the Alfa and then the BMW. The alfa and the BMW have electronic launch control systems and gearboxes. So the Lotus is harder to launch of the line. Driver also miss-shifted a gear. Theoretically, the Lotus can win.
The Lotus apparently has a short shift for 1st but like you say, theoretically. The Lotus had two opportunities and didn't come close. It is much easier to launch both the Alfa 4C and the BMW M2. So in the real world both are faster off the line.

The m2 comp smokes the other m2’s because the extra hp. You can see the manual m2 gets the jump because he can drive manual well plus the 100lbs diff and then the m2 comp pulls ahead because of that extra hp. I love my 2 series and will deff have a 235 next

I know it has a short ratio box but not that short 🤣 I have just an S1 NA long ratio Evora and it would have launched all over that Exige 350 💯% when that should not be the case figures wise. Though i do not have the 🙄 clutch delay valve as it’s an early model, so hard launching on the ‘right’ tyres delivers every time. 1st & 2nd is great!

Had the privilege of driving a 4C once, its a wonderful car that leaves you not knowing what to think about it, lots of power, very low seated, lovely gearbox, so fast and accurate, but the unassisted steering, its kind of cool but weird at the same time.
Oh, and the sound it makes from that 4 cylinder engine, my god, i love that sound, from the inside is just unbelievable how they achieved that from a 4 cylinder turbo engine.
Would love to have one, but its just to damn expensive for me.

The lotus standard has over 40bhp/tonne more so how does it get beaten by that margin? yes its manual but that doesnt explain the margin of dif. Only other reason could be the driver. Maybe cause its the video producers own 4C he fixed result.

Official times say 4.5 seconds. I think the weight advantage of the Alfa really helped it to get off the line quickly.

Then better readjust those dynos, because the engine is the same than that of the Giulietta QV, in the same state of tune, and there are remaps to 260 bhp, or 270 bhp in Stage 2 with Downpipe and intake, so absolutely no way to have 270 bhp stock. Because if 270 stock were true, then it would be 300 bhp with just a remap, and 310+ bhp with Downpipe and Stage 2, and on that engine+turbo... Weil, no. The thing is that there are always people that remap their cars and keep saying to anyone that it is stock... I know a few of them.
I've also seen VW Scirocco 2.0TSI 180, being stock dynoed at 212 bhp and even up to 222 bhp LOL (and then, not winning against a 100% stock 2.0TSI 200).
Not to mention that 235 official --> 270 real means a +15% increase, and that would not pass european homologation rules, with such a big difference from quoted figures.
Don't get me wrong... I like the 4C a lot, but I tend to be suspicious when I see magical results in drag races...

For a car to do a good lap times on many tracks it needs to be also relatively fast in a straight line. Downforce limits the speed a bit, but not such extent as seen in the video. A 991 GT3RS is still massively fast in staright line performance for example

maybe they should of got a pro driver for each car because you can see in each drag race someone was late or just fucked up and then the last race was trash. that lotus driver really fucked both time in the take off. it made that alfa look lambo fast. which is weird cuz there's so many videos where those exige's just walk away from those 4c's. my older model exige 260 burns those 4c's. I like the alfa but come on get better drivers where the drags are done properly.
The driver in the race gear is a professional racing car driver and we switched drivers after a couple of races.

Well i raced against many many Exige V6 on trackdays... 9/10 dont have there power and run poorly.. My modified 4c is as fast as a tuned V6 Exige with +-380HP. I clocked my car 0-100 kph in 3,4s and 100-200 kph in 9,1s.. Thats 12,5s 0-200 kph on semi slicks with +-300hp .

I noticed the comp's rear wheels where tucked so its been lowered/running coil overs. What was the suspension setup on it ? Might explain why its launch was good everytime. I know from experience the stock m2 and the comp are pretty much bang on the same performance up to 60 mph and the quarter mile time is very close. I have a feeling that comp might have had some modifications done..

Official times say 4.5 seconds. I think the weight advantage of the Alfa really helped it to get off the line quickly.

@@maxmuller4551 because the CArbon Fiber tube has been reinforced for accident collision, also the suspension was tweaked. Aircon, extra air bags, stock leather stitching in the interiors
