I LOVE watching sewing videos on youtube because everyone's accent is different and I never know what it is going to be. I will click your videos just to listen to you because it makes me feel cozy!
Hello I'm coming to this video a bit late but it's always a relevant topic. I appreciate how you take the time to give ideas and advices for each attern you found. As a beginner sewist, with tiny tiny budget, and who is trying to have a thoughtful wardrobe (and lifestyle) these kinds of videos are very helpful. So thank you (and thanks to your sewing friends too). 🙏🐱
I would love to sew a capsule wardrobe but I currently live in an assisted living home. I am trying to recover from a full hip replacement surgery. I don’t have anything near how many clothes that you have. I love watching someone who is comfortable in her size. Thank you and I enjoy your channel.
Amazing choices! I really appreciate the time that you put into finding all these patterns for the rest of us. I hope you're feeling a bit better than you were. I spent many times as a child in the hospital because of my kidneys so I can relate to some degree. Hopefully like me you too will recover from it permanently. Thanks again for all the information in the video. X
Just found you, and subbed. I'm in Texas; we do get cold weather here. The problem is that we are so used to the heat that a small drop in temperature sends us scurrying for cover. Lol We usually do layers for winter. And since our Gulf Coast weather can change rather drastically in a matter of hours or indeed minutes, it is a common sight to see people in *shorts* and a *parka* no kidding! Conversely, temps in the upper 80's/lower 90's Farenheit are a nice spring day for getting outside! Thanks!
As someone who is starting out this is wonderful! As much as I want to buy all the patterns i don’t have the money to drop on all the things so I have a lot of the mood patterns saved on my Pinterest board I just need to get around to downloading some of them and figuring out if I have fabric that will work for them!
I made the peppermint wrap skirt matching with the morning glory top such a good combo! The top is super simple BTW, I feel like the peppermint patterns run a tad bit big so I think you are fine or you could just add seem allowance on the pattern to adjust it to your size
Thanks Claire I really enjoyed watching this. I am just getting back into sewing and have been buying patterns and fabrics to make myself a capsule wardrobe so this video comes at a great time.
i laughed at the Texas warm weather comment because there's been some pretty nasty weather and all of my texas friends are FREEZING because they were not ready. I live farther north so I am prepared but it sure has been a nasty bitter cold winter in the US this past week
Once I move out I’m going to get a sewing machine- and this is something I do when I used to go shopping for clothes (not considering what I already have) so thank you for preventing me making the same mistake when I start making my clothes(:
Thank you! That is such a great selection, you have done all the hard work for me as I find looking for patterns overwhelming and disheartening with my size. I will definitely be giving some of your suggestions a try.
What a great vlog, Claire! I thought I knew most of the free patterns out there but you have found several I’ve not heard of! They are a great selection 😍❤️ Have you seen the Chloe Skirt by Made for Mermaids That’s a maxi and is made with stretch - it’s great made in scuba for the colder weather and goes up to a 54 hip but because it stretch will go a bit further. 👍
Thanks Lynne! I did have to dig deep to find some of these! I always want to mention patterns that I havent spoken about before and the more free pattern videos I do the harder that gets! Thanks for the heads up on that skirt, I'll have a look! x
Thank you for this! I already have some and need some more motivation for putting together a simple capsule wardrobe. :) I would love to see some basic dresses added in the mix or a tunic top to go over the leggings. Love your videos. Keep sewing!
Thank you. Check this video that I made last week, there were lots of basic tops and dresses, some in tunic style. Not free but nice ruclips.net/video/X2ZWpLqZYrk/видео.html
I do like that gauze scarf! I made the Aspen plus another pattern from HotPatterns and both came out way too big, so I'd say check the finished garment measurements first. Thanks for these pattern tips!
I like the wrap skirt and the hoodie with crew option, especially as it's unisex - thanks for telling us about it as I hadn't seen the jumper pattern. I've looked on the Mood website for their free patterns but they're not easy to find!
Thats true. You have to put free patterns (or type of pattern you're looking for) into the search bar and then go through the blog posts. Its a bit of a faff if I'm honest!
I wont necessarily make all of these myself, they were to show viewers you can build a capsule wardrobe from free patterns. I will be doing a capsule wardrobe series at some point though and I'll show those pieces yes.
Free jeans pattern: www.moodfabrics.com/blog/the-nolana-jeans-free-sewing-pattern/ You would just need to lengthen the legs to ankle length. I can't wait to try these.

Ahh thank you
Wow girl, that hair color is you. As is the shirt color. Very flattering, they brighten your face and skin.

Claire, loooooove the video - can second the Aspen Cardi - I have made it twice (or maybe 3 times) before! :)
Thank you!

Thanks Kathie, glad its useful!
Thank you for suggesting fabrics and explaining why you'd choose them. As a beginner it's so hard to pick the proper fabric for a project.

I watched this last night and today hit a fantastic sale. Bought fabric for a capsule wardrobe and paid 1.69 a meter......yup.....cheap as chips.
Thats fantastic! I wish I had similar luck!
It’s not fabulous quality but it will be great for toilets and maybe I’ll be the best dressed house slob in the neighbourhood.
😄 🤣 😂
Toiles not toilets lmao
I figured lol
Darn it, I don’t have Facebook anymore 😢
Guys, where can I find a free pattern for a modest dress with sleeves?
Free jeans pattern: www.moodfabrics.com/blog/the-nolana-jeans-free-sewing-pattern/
You would just need to lengthen the legs to ankle length. I can't wait to try these.
Thank you
Mood Sewciety has a free jean pattern- called Nola I think?
Thanks!
What if you dont have facebook ?
Then you’d have to pay I guess.
