Thank you for the great tutorial! Thanks to you there were no bad words used in the making of my first bag. Don't know if there will ever be a second though. I did make the zipper go the wrong way but I was consistent with each one, lol! Now to use it for my cell phone!
Glad you were able to complete the bag with our tutorial. Don't worry about the zippers being wrong. The bag will work great either way. Happy Sewing!!
So glad you will the tutorial. We currently only have 1/2 inch webbing in black. Here is the link to our site for the product. sallietomato.com/products/1-2-inch-black-polyester-webbing?_pos=4&_sid=58edcd7bf&_ss=r Happy Sewing
I was very pleased to see the Miranda bag had the cutting layout, and was hoping they all do. I love this zippy bag but my faux vinal is directional so without the layout, I'm not sure which way to cut. Also do i need to use stabilizer or interfacing? I noticed that you did not for the cork.
Thanks for watching and commenting! To answer your question: A great way to check pattern placement on directional fabrics is to make a paper pattern following the cutting instructions. Then draw an arrow on the paper pattern in the direction you'd like the fabric print to be oriented. Let us know if this helps. You do not need stabilizer or interfacing if you feel your fabric has enough structure to hold the shape of the bag.
@SallieTomato when it tells to cut a large piece and then subcut I feel I'm wasting a lot of material, so I need to be sure. I don't like to waste it or have to do a lot of piecing scraps. I'll try your suggestions
Many thanks! This is a very beautiful bag and present. And of course your explanation is perfect as always💕. Love bags with many bags, so maybe I even will sew an inside one, too.
Sorry for the delayed response. When using webbing if you don't want the strap to be adjustable simply cut to the size you desire this would also be the same for the chain. Happy Sewing!
Hi Cindy, Thanks for commenting and asking! You receive a notification in the upper right hand corner of your screen and then also an email notification if you have that turned on as well. Let us know if you have any questions. Happy Sewing to you!
I’m confused with the lining fabric. There are two sizes, regular and mini. My question is, the outside fabric doesn’t change for either size but the lining is sized for standard or mini……..how does that work?
Thank goodness you have this video! The pattern instructions are really terrible. I made the bag trying to follow the paper instructions . Finally watched the RUclips video and was able to make 2 of them.
Thank you for watching the video and providing your feedback on the pattern as this helps us continually make better patterns. So glad you have already made 2 of them. Happy Sewing! :)
hi Sallie I ordered my pattern today its. All paid for my account says fulfilled but I never got the digital download not sure why is it possible to resend
Thank you for placing your order and letting us know about your pattern. Please email our customer service at: info@sallietomato.com for further assistance on obtaining your downloadable pattern. Happy Sewing to you!
I have a question… the instructions say to use 1/4” seam allowances throughout, but in this tutorial you say 3/8”. Jess of Oklaroot said 3/8” also. Which is correct?
Good question! Both 1/4" and 3/8" seam allowances are used throughout the pattern so be sure to follow the instructions. For example: on page 2, under ASSEMBLE THE FRONT, there's a specific note IMPORTANT: which is alerting the reader to a wider seam allowance. Thank you so much for watching this tutorial and asking your question. Happy Sewing!
Are zippers by the yard wider than the zippers bought at Joann's? The pattern calls for 3/8" seam allowance when sewing next to the zippers but if I do that - I can't open the zipper the seam to too close. If 3/8" is too close - what other seam allowance???
zippers by the yard come in #5 which is 1 1/4” wide… this is the most popular size.. you can also get them in #3 which is 1” wide. Sallie Tomato carries # 5 on their website.
I was hoping that the online class was not for cork since the instructions are different. I hope I can follow along without getting confused as I have already cut all of my fabric per the instructions on the pattern.
In the tutorial, Jess is sewing on the BabyLock Accomplish. You should be able to sew this on your home sewing machine as all our patterns are designed to be sewn on these types of machines. Using a narrow foot and newer good quality thread are a few helpful tips. If you have further questions, please reach out to our customer service at the email below: info@sallietomato.com

great demo but why didn't you have a lining with a more distinct front and back so it is easier to follow?
We have kept this in mind for future videos.

This was a great tutorial on triple zip bag. Many thanks.
You are welcome
If I want to use webbing or chain for the strap, how long should it be?
Sorry for the delayed response. When using webbing if you don't want the strap to be adjustable simply cut to the size you desire this would also be the same for the chain. Happy Sewing!
I got the kit And am making the bag. Love the video. Thanks so much-
Wonderful! Thank you for watching!
Best tutorial ever!!!!
Wow you are a great teacher. Newbe to the subscribe thing. Do i get an email when a new tutorial comes up? or how does that work? Thanks
Hi, if you also clicked on the bell when you subscribed you will receive an 'in app' notification but not an email alert I believe. Hope this helps 😊

What kind of stabilizer? SF 101 iron on ok or something stronger?
Yes, or our Sallie Tomato woven stabilizer now available
I’m confused with the lining fabric. There are two sizes, regular and mini. My question is, the outside fabric doesn’t change for either size but the lining is sized for standard or mini……..how does that work?
All the sizes for cutting are in the pattern. There are 2 different sizes for each piece.
Would it be fine to use quilt cotton for exterior and waterproof canvas for lining?
Absolutely-

Best tutorial lve ever seen..
Very deposited not to see finished product..
Glad you liked it!
Yes! I also would like to see the finished product - but perhaps that is only a simple oversight and next time she will show us 😁
Can anyone tell me why I need to make the strap longer if I am using cloth (3 @ 2" x 20") instead of cork (2 @ 1" x 25") ?
Maybe for the miter seams?
When making the strap with cotton, you will be making some additional folds which will take up some of the extra length.

@@marygrace7538 she carries #3 now too-plus striped zippers
The number 5 is 1 1/4" wide
Where can I find the hardware small enough for the straps please? Thank you
Sallie Tomato sells a kit for the Zippy or just the 1/2 inch hardware
On our website, we sell 1/2 inch hardware and the decorative strap connectors.
I was hoping that the online class was not for cork since the instructions are different. I hope I can follow along without getting confused as I have already cut all of my fabric per the instructions on the pattern.
You should be fine as the measurements are the same. Thank you
@@SallieTomato3 years 😂
I have made two bags. Very cute! But they each have a raw selvage under the main zipper on one side! What am I doing wrong??
Sounds like you may have attached the lining wrong
You are not attaching the lining correctly. Reach out to us at info@sallietomato if you need additional help.
Any issues with using #3 zippers?
Thanks for commenting! No we have not heard of any issues with the #3 zippers. If you need any help, please email us at: info@sallietomato.com
What size zipper did u use the pattern , the pattern doesn't say
#5 is used
It says #5 on the pattern
Great video. My bag turned out perfectly! Thank you!
So wonderful to hear. Thank you
А где готовая сумка?
It should be at the end of the tutorial
Bought the pattern! What sewing machine make and model are you using/recommend for bagmaking. I’m having a terrible time with my Elna Excellence 680+.
In the tutorial, Jess is sewing on the BabyLock Accomplish. You should be able to sew this on your home sewing machine as all our patterns are designed to be sewn on these types of machines. Would making the top out of cork & the bottom out of waxed canvas work?
Sure it would. We would love to see it. Join our Facebook group to show off your makes and ask questions.
