To be honest, I don't think any of the people that made the commercials played any of the games, because I as far as I know, NONE of the goals in the games are to "get the girl." I'm pretty sure they just played Mario and thought that was the plot of Zelda as well.

My best guess with the out-of-place Wind Waker commercial was an attempt to sell the game to those who complained about it's cartoony looks.
If that's not why they made that commercial, I don't know what is.
It honestly gives me vibes of Twighlight Princess. Zelda in a dark room, with a hooded robe type thing. The Dark theme they tried to sell as well, makes me wonder of they had some parts of Twighlight Princess already in mind.

My mom grew up playing ocarina of time and I grew up watching her play. Once she beat it, then I made a save file then played it for myself :) I didn't beat it the first time so I put it down for a while (stuck in water temple)
And a few years ago I picked it back up from the same Wii and beat it! Ocarina of time was so much fun to play and although I played the very first Zelda , ocarina of time is what made me fall in love

Technically speaking, Old English is much, much older than the Shakespearian English that commercial has. Most people wouldn't even be able to read Old English. Just FYI...
Yeah, in the video it was Elizabethan English, like when Shakespeare lived.
I think someone who reads both modern English and some other closely related Germanic (Norwegian, in my case) can actually decipher old Saxon pretty well, it's kind of amusing, to be honest. I've only seen phrases of old saxon through random means, but they made sense to me.

Um yes. I played like a girl... because I am one. I beat the game twice. (spoilers ahead) Also not to mention that you don't even save Zelda until the end of the game. She literally helps Link and saves him a couple times throughout the game... (like when Kakariko Village caught on fire) She isn't kidnapped by Ganondorf until the very end. Not even that, but there isn't a heck of a lot of romance between Link and Zelda during the game so there really isn't any "getting" the girl.
yeah the only times there was romance was in zelda 2 and skyward sword.
Just goes to show how little research goes into commercials.
One of the reasons I love OoT's story. It may be cliched af but they don't follow every cliche in the book and even give little spins to some of said cliches.
I guess its just general American Culture misunderstanding what they're trying to sell. As if a Big Wig Suit saw cash from Nintendo and went "Oh! WE CAN SELL THIS!".

AV I finally started just last month. It's the BOMB! Sumo wrestling, battling on a horse through that famous bridge they put on Brawl, advance combos, backflipping off a running horse, and even that long, epic sword taunt after he finishes up enemies!!
SO MUCH AWESOME AND I'M JUST STARTING! Now I understand where so much of the Zelda content in the last two Smash Bros titles and Animal Crossing: New Leaf came from. It's has everything they say it has. You should play it before Breath of the Wild is out.

Plus, PBG has gotten really formulaic. They always start the same, end the same, there's some random filtered cutaways, he says some things in that screechy voice he can do. And then advertisement! I get more enjoyment out of his let's play channel tbh, it seems more like old school PBG
I'm just happy he is making videos and is getting paid to do so. Sponsors like this help PBG keep food on his table and a roof over his head. As long as PBG is happy, I'm happy. I understand how sponsor stuff can get annoying though.
Well, considering the video is all about commercials and shows various commercials, it's technically somewhere around 85% advertising, if not more.
Normally product placement in videos bother me, but PBG puts his own hilarious spin on it and gives soul to an otherwise soulless practice.

Windwaker Link wasn’t destined to save the day he isn’t even a descendant of the original Link unless it is by some long lost line. The windwaker is from the adult timeline which means the best Link doesn’t exist in that timeline anymore.
