We Are Winning the Fight Against DEI | An Update from Robby Starbuck

  • Robby Starbuck updates Dr. Jordan B. Peterson on his efforts to remove DEI and woke policies from the entrepreneurial landscape. In the short three months since his last appearance on the podcast, Robby has achieved some major wins with brands like Target and Meta, but also some major pushback - Costco specifically made a public announcement to uphold DEI policies. With the world fluctuating, power changing hands, and dueling narratives in heated competition, one thing is abundantly clear: now is not the time to become complacent.
Robby Starbuck, a filmmaker and anti-communist once directed Oscar-winning actors and some of the biggest music stars in the world but seeing the threat of Marxism in America set a fire inside him due to his own Mom and grandparents fleeing communism in Cuba. He knew he had to stand up. He started his public stand by endorsing Trump in the 2015 primary. Hollywood didn’t like that very much.

As a person that is deemed "white" but actually of mixed races it always hurt me personally when asked on paper what is your ethnicity. I never understood why it should matter. It is intrusive and against my privacy. I am the fairest in my family but still more than my skin color. I should be judged by my aptitude not my skin color or sex. It is hurtful. Thank you JP.

Bringing up racism isn’t the same as promoting it just like talking about crime doesn’t mean you support crime.
Ignoring racism doesn’t make it disappear; it just allows it to continue unchecked. And let’s be real, if we’re talking about who benefits the most from diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, it’s actually white women.
Studies have shown they gain the most in terms of hiring, promotions, and leadership opportunities, while Black and brown communities still face major barriers.
So if anything, the system still favors those who already have an advantage.

DEI in private companies doesn't worry me as much as DEI in public institutions. One can boycott Target or Walmart but I can't stop paying taxes if my taxes are used to transition prisoners in jails. I have to send my kid to a school that has drag story time in the library. It's taken over a decade to get rid of a Prime Minister that chose his cabinet on sex, rather that competency.

It is so important to have someone who is willing to take the time to explain what is going on and the steps being taken to bring back a more common sense system, merit based that leaves out race, ethnicity and the plethora of other DEI required practices. It's too late for it to directly benefit me, but it will be great for everyone to know that they can move forward through life without having to worry about these kinds of discriminatory practices.

A few purposes for this happening: To get normally "minimal-government" type citizens to beg for big government to save the day. To keep independent, freedom-minded folks convinced that they can go back to sleep. To develop trust in big government by people who normally wouldn't. To keep people divided and bickering. The same government which tyrannically forced DIE (not a typo) is coming to the rescue (using the same tyrannical methods they used to create it in the first place, nonetheless)--old psychological tactic. And as always, it's yet another red herring: don't look at the other evil that government/useful idiots et al, are doing.

All that a shift like this demonstrates is that corporations are merely beholden to what will theoretically serve the business best, and that includes what's signaled by the branding. I think it's fine if DEI policies are scrapped, but let's not kid ourselves that this means these corporations are now being more "honest." These things have always been marketing strategies designed to give the illusion of solidarity.

I’ve started to have unsettling daydreams about nuclear destruction. If there’s one thing I’ve noticed about the right, it’s how quickly things can escalate-going from calm to crisis in the blink of an eye. It genuinely frightens me to think about what might come next. I try to stay hopeful, drawing strength from the movement around Trump’s coalition, but some nights I feel like Jesus in Gethsemane, fully aware of the storm on the horizon.
I hope I’m just being paranoid. A crazy fool. But so far, many of the things I’ve imagined-those scenarios that once felt distant-have actually come to pass. And now, that sense of inevitability feels closer than ever. I pray that I’m wrong, that none of it comes to fruition, and that, if the worst should come, God will have mercy on us all.

    • @willek1335

I guess to say anything about the future is somewhat foolhardy.. in retrospect.
From looking behind us, there's a trend, and it's called theory of total war, also known as a major power conflict. On average, for the last half a millenia of tracking, it's happened on average every 50 years. Napoleoic wars were an outlier, due to it being such a jump in terrible scope, that the powers that became stalled the next large conflict for 100 years - WW1. Unprecedented peace brought on by a respect for death.
Today however, we're about 75 years since the last one. People grow old. They die. Forget the horrors of war. Young people are naive, just like they were at the start of ww1. The most dangerous kind.
Since ancient times, on average, the % military spending of a budget decrease. Conversely, the death toll increase.
It's not a particular person or group. It's humanity as a whole. I think everyone are responsible. The operative word is everyone.

My son is on the spectrum but highly functional. He's also happens to be a six foot two white male. He worked at Target and would come home from work upset about all their DEI posters in the break room. One time, they even covered up a poster for Autism month. When he pointed out to one of the employees that the DEI poster she was putting up wasn't even factually true, it led to him being fired. The state found that they illegally fired him and owed him workman's comp. Needless to say, I never shoped at Target again.

Back in the days like 40 years ago I was told to my face that I can’t apply for financial aid or scholarships for college because I am not a minority.
I was shy back then and wanted to be respectful toward a woman working in New Jersey High School office .
So I kindly asked her if she could check out my status as a Eastern European emigrant in this category. She looked at me and said no.. you’re not black or Hispanic. I was discriminated and accepted this fact, but never forgot. I told that story to many people, but they were not surprised… because this was going on as long as I remember.

Peterson once said that a society that swings to one side like the left for a time, will usually course correct and swing the other way… before correcting somewhere in the middle.
FYI - America is currently swinging back hard and it’s so clearly over doing it, that it’s the most blatant move to extremism we’ve seen outside of a socialist country.
I’m just waiting for a Horse to be given the role of Senator at this point.
