  • Dale took an AncestryDNA test expecting to find clues on his long lost half-sister. With no immediate close connections, he started to lose hope. A year later, he received a message from someone located in California, curious to know how they could be so closely related. Turns out, it was the connection he had been waiting his whole life to find.
Ancestry flew Dale and his wife Polly out to meet his half-sister, Gloria, and her children, Terry and Wayne. It was an emotional reunion for all. We were thrilled to be on hand to celebrate this special moment with them.

My mom tracked down my Nana's half sister and they met on my nana's 60th Birthday as a surprise. It was glorious. My nan died 7 years later of cancer. I am so glad my mom did that. Never wait to join what God put together, love is such a blessing. I am so pleased this family has more of what their hearts were seeking. May God bless you all and peace be yours forever more.

Dale's wife, Polly, is such a nice person. I love how she's as excited about her husband's finding and meeting his half-sister and her family.

My mother lost contact with her father when she was nine years old. Her father was called back to Italy his home country during WWII. She never heard from him again. I found out through my genealogy research that he married another woman. I have yet to find out if he had children with that new wife. There's a possibility that he had children with her? That would mean my mother has half siblings out there somewhere? Thank you for sharing your story. 💞

Even though they all had just met, they’re all very soft spoken. So happy for them to all be together now.

Something like this happened in my family in my grandfather's generation. My great-grandfather had an illegitimate child as a married older man. Unfortunately this long-lost half-brother named Robert wasn't interested in finding out about his natural father until after my grandfather's generation had all passed away and he was quite elderly. His younger biological brother was looking into it for him on the sly in case Bob ever became interested and had found us using Ancestry prior to the DNA offering. I actually corresponded with the brother about something entirely different before we connected with Bob.

I love seeing happy half sibling stories like this because it's not always like this. I know two people who have half siblings, and their siblings don't want anything to do with them. 😢

I have a bunch of DNA matches but none of them relate back to my surname. All are on my maternal line and none the paternal. Guess I'll never know, until I leave this world. I'm the last of my line.
