    I had bad experience using mediatek processors 10 years ago and kinda sweared off using it.
    But after hearing that mediatek dimensity series are actually really good I decided to try it again when I have to decide between dimensity or exynos version of the phone I was gonna get.
    Using it for a week now and I can say that dimensity is really good and truly changed my opinion of Mediatek now

    I traded my pixel 8 pro for a galaxy s24 ultra and if you had told me they had the same processor and I didn't know any better I'd believe you. Chipsets pretty much reached the good enough stage for a phone with the snapdragon 888. Optimisation counts for so much now (caveat is that I don't play games on my phone)

      Yeah, the difference at this point to me is power efficiency. My Pixel 7 Pro is horrible in that regards. Pixel 8 Pro should be better but I am not really willing to switch now because it still runs perfectly fine otherwise…

      @thomasa.243 yeah efficiency improvements for tensor between g2 and g3 seem to be massive. The pixel 8 pro had really good battery life in my experience. Never used a pixel 7 but read plenty of complaints about battery life.

      @@nikc1313 Yup. Plus, I mean, the glossy aluminium elements but they have kept that on the Pixel 8 Pro. Unfortunately 😅.
      I had the Pixel 4 before and that thing, after 3 1/2 years of owning, still got me through one day with 20% left. I have to recharge the Pixel 7 Pro at least once for a bit to get through the day. I sent it to the repair centre and they said: "This is normal." Ruins it for me

    Seen S24 ultra almost hit 7400 in some GB benchmarks. Other Android phones with the SD3 also hover around there, and this chip is on the 4nm process like the 14 pro, but SD is clearly ahead, and the Apple can't touch the GPU power of the SD3.
    You're comparing apples with oranges lol

    • @andyH_England
      @andyH_England 8 месяцев назад

      Loads of real-life tests show it is not just about brute force benchmarks and that optimisation can make a big difference. For example, iPhones have slower SSDs (half) for sequential read/writes but are twice as fast as the S24U at transferring data on and off the device! Also, current GPU tests show Genshin at 59FPS on iPhone but only 53FPS on S24U. I saw a rendering test where the creator used four apps, and the iPhone beat S24U in everyone!
      If benchmarks are important then the S24U is not far behind. But if you are grounded in reality, then the iPhone is a killer.

    • @kayboo5835
      @kayboo5835 8 месяцев назад +2

      @amfrepo If status is important to you, stick with apple, if you want a feature rich experience, Samsung is in a league of it's own.
      I switched from apple for the 1st time, and got the S23U 1tb version, and I couldn't be happier!
      The user experience and customisation is levels above apple, and I had enough with my iPhone battery losing ~15 - 20% each year after normal everyday use. The 23U still shows it's battery health ~98% (couple of weeks shy of a year), and every update Samsung provides improves optimisation for all apps. Apple updates just degrades battery life lol.
      I've used the latest iPhone and the redmagic 9 pro with the SD3, and the apple doesn't even come close to it's gaming performance! Not in the same realm, haven't used the S24U though, and I don't use phones for gaming.
      Apple "should" be waaaay ahead with it's 3nm chip, it's much lighter operating system, software to suit it's hardware etc.. but this is definitely not the case as I've used both, and imagine if apple introduced a plethora of multitasking features and customisations like Samsung do, the battery life would be absolutely disastrous.
      Even switched from the ipad to the s9 ultra and again, couldn't be happier, especially with its gorgeous wide-screen oled display, which is 2nd to none!
      You can keep apple and their marketing, I'm a realist, and my S23U is a feature rich multitasking beast that can be customised to your hearts content, unlike 🍎
      One charge still gets me through the whole day with ease, where my prior "Apple pro" started to lose its battery life after a few months, and after a year, it lost almost 20%.
      It's personal preference, and for me, I definitely won't be going back to apple and their marketing shenanigans, I'm so done with them.
      It's like being freed from prison when switching, I guess that's where they get the term "jailbreaking" 😂👋

    Even having those great numbers, in real life usage, if you are not using your phone for gaming, these benchmarks are all the same. You are better off having your phone from last year or for the last 2~4 years unless it is already not performing good. So stop trading your old phone to a newer one every single phone release and use your money for other important things.

    Can someone explain what the issue is with the tensor G3? Its evidently clocked at lower speeds which explains it's performance in synthetic benchmarks.
    However this has little to 0 consequence in everyday use from what I notice. I use this phone and have absolute 0 issues in all my tasks. Of course small software things, like lens transitions, choppy scrolling on certain apps can be fixed via updates but I dont see the issue with this chipset at all.

    • @andyH_England
      @andyH_England 8 месяцев назад +6

      It has been noticeable that many smartphone users can have a great experience with 2-3-year-old chips as they are powerful enough to handle the average user workflow. These higher-performing chips are now overkill for most. Just gamers and those that may use pro apps on their phones (rendering and such-like). The Tensor 3 is excellent for day-to-day use, with solid performance, good thermals and average-above battery life.

    • @TheFCBR80
      @TheFCBR80 8 месяцев назад +3

      People like to gossip about how tensor G3 is not performant or efficient but for everyday task it 100% does the job. I use a pixel 8Pro. Zero issues at all. No lag. It's all smooth. It might not be the best when it comes to benchmarks but benchmarks doesn't paint the whole picture.

      Alot of us are needing more power because our smartphones have completely replaced our PC & Gaming Consoles.
      IE: Red Magic 9s Pro+ or Asus.
      Personally I believe snapdragon is better overall. It has less cores but puts out more GHz than Exynoss. I'm a heavy load multitasker and the amount of cores I have handle the load.

      Yeah all of these are overkill for daily driving a phone usually. The Pixel will be worse at games and not as good at like video editing or audio rendering, a few people do that on their phones. More than that though I notice the little iterative improvements in cell modems and bluetooth, that matters more than raw power IMHO.

    @internationaltrailers2815 8 месяцев назад +1

    As a person who used both flagship android and iphone, my suggestion is to go for a mobile where the os is optimised to its core. In this case it’s obviously ios. people talk about snapdragon gpu is better than a17 pro this time around. But genshin impact is capped at 60fps on almost all of the phones which use snapdragon 8 gen 3 although it is capable of supporting higher frame rates whereas apple supports 120hz gameplay. Although it depends on developer who made the game but still there is no point saying a particular phone has the better processor when the softwares or games are not taking full advantage or in this case not optimised. And this is only one of the greater number of examples. This is a fact which many hardcore android users fail to accept. If you ask me app optimisation and user experience is more important than the features provided by each platform. Although android is greatly superior in multitasking capabilities but there is polishness to be found while using it because of developers negligency and android manufacturers peasant’s mentality. I know this is due to android fragmentation but atleast higher end android phones should come with polished softwares and games. Sadly android manufacturers do not want to pay extra money to devs for such polishness because they know they can sell their devices by showing specs on paper.

    Important aspect of these SOCs is the chip transistor size and Apple has the best here which is TSMCs 3 nanometer chips. All other things being equal Apple's chip will be the most efficient and the fastest because of the small state of the art 3nm chip process from the world's leading chip maker, TSMC. Off course everything else isn't equal... Apple dominates most of these as well! Apple's chip is its own bespoke design starting from a license from ARM. They improve what is already there and make it better in particular their design of their own Operating Systems that use these SOCs. You can't beat this methodology.

    • @joshuakimmich9536
      @joshuakimmich9536 8 месяцев назад +3

      They have beat this methodology and they did it several times. The leading flapship chipsets are the Dimensity 9300 and SD 8 gen 3, both made on TSMC 4nm nodes. Both beat Apple's A17pro on overall performance except on single core. Dimensity 9400 and SD 8 gen 4 will be on TSMC 3nm and surrounding leaks suggest a gain of 15-20%, making the difference even further.
      Apple do however last long and offer great power efficiency, but that's because they produce entire phones, not just chips. The entire production line and the OS is optimized to run on apple hardware, that's the only distinct advantage it has. But that advantage also falls off when you look at the absurd pricing of apple phones

    • @frankcellini9363
      @frankcellini9363 8 месяцев назад

      @@joshuakimmich9536 That's a big advantage! Apple's 3 nanometer chip is better physically than the rest and because of this they will have an advantage if they make use of it by all the other clever stuff that they are doing. They are already getting newer 3 nanometer E process for there next smartphones/computers/tablets. Because all of their machines is based on the same Apple silicon (bespoke design) and operation system, this is a HUGH advantage... any advances they make in one area the can use in their other devices, up to and including their new Apple Vision pro Googles! They are unbeatable. And don't forget it was ex Apple engineers that Qualcomm sed to improve their SOCs. Apple has sold over 2 billion iphones since they were introduced! In terms of GPU snapdragon 2 generations ahead and cpu that's apple.

      From tests I have seen, the A17Pro is 30% ahead in single-core CPU versus SD8G3, which is about two years old. And although the GPU in the S24U benchmarks well against the iPhone 15PM, in real life, the iPhone gets better FPS (Genshin is 15% better). Benchmarks are only part of the story. We now have AI and software that can improve an experience compared to just thrashing the cores like in benchmarks.

      @amfrepo genshin tests seem questionable considering 8gen2 which is an older chip seemed to be getting 60fps on genshin so optimization seems kinda shit on genshin, on the other hand if we take a game like spongebob the cosmic shake iphone 15 pro max average 40fps~ on it in ultra settings while device with 8gen2 can achieve 60fps on same settings , let alone devices with 8gen3

      @@thejoltmaster1231 Yes, it seems strange as the SD8G3 should at least match that. But that is how it is and I am just reporting it.

    After 1nm fabrication then what? 0,5nm?😂😂

      Actually it gets measured in Angstroms, which is why Intel is using 20A and 18A etc for the naming of its future process nodes.

      To reach 1nm it will take so long . I hope even in 2030 we won't be reaching 1nm.

    Samsung's Exynos flop project.
    Company has being wasting money for a prolong period of time behind exynos but all are going to vain.
    They should have to shut-down this flop project.

    Too bad that exynos is still exynos and isn't worth any attention whatsoever. That chipset was, is and will remain a failure
