randy roy They kinda suck. They are so inefficient and you lose available HP ( why th Jet HP rating is higher) and the pump is heavy. The power to weight ratio sucks. Then on top of it sand messes them right up quick and they are a pain in the ass if you suck weeds up into them. If you want a shallow water rig you are spo much better off with a mud motor or a Mercury outboard with a jack plate and shallow water kit lower end. Unless you plane on going over rocks these things aren't all that great.
+Rocky Rococo I agree they are a pain compared to a prop and drink gas, but are needed in order to run some rivers. I run the Upper Potomac and Susquehanna, which you encounter many rocks. You couldn't safely run those rivers at high speed with a regular prop, even if you had a jack plate and tunnel for your prop.
+3waver SO true on the rivers. I'm up in Fairbanks and most rivers are shallow and rocky. This hardly does the trick... and with the river level fluctuating it gets pretty hairy as it is now I couldn't get the power from a mud motor to push the weight I need for the rivers up here
I have a buddy with a beavertail and it goes up in some pretty shallow water ,but is loud an hangs way out, but only pushes a light weight fishing boat up the river and it does work perfect for the light boat with a small load. I am sure there are pros and cons to both depending on what you're using it for..... Thanks for the post
Tolerance are a thin biz card... Those in the know say they rob about 1/3 of your engine's HP? Anybody? I just picked up a 17ft Whaler with one on a 70hp?
DEAR Mr. FIX... OR MAY I CALL YOU You Can? CAN YOU SIR, OR ANYONE FOR THAT MATTER, P--L--E--A--S--E TELL ME WHAT BOLTS I NEED TO REMOVE, AND WHERE THEY MAY BE... TO COMPLETELY GET THIS JetDrive OFF MY 1986 70HP JOHNSON 3CYL VOR OUTBOARD; SO I CAN SWITCH OUT TO A PROP DRIVEN LOWER UNIT?? I ALSO NEED TO KNOW WHAT SPLINE COUNT MY DRIVE SHAFT HAS...
Inflatable boats, also known as rubber boats, many friends now think that inflatable boats are rubber boats and rubber boats are inflatable boats. In fact, there are still some differences. Why? Because many inflatable boats are not necessarily made of rubber, some military emergency rescue boats are made of a lot of high-tech composite materials. It's not rubber, so it can't be called a rubber boat. When we buy an inflatable boat, we often see the title of an inflatable boat and a rubber boat in the same title. Why do we write the title on the same item and what is the difference between the inflatable boat and the rubber boat? From what we generally know, there is no difference between the two. They all can be used the outboard motor of Sea Dog The inflatable boat is also a small inflatable boat, and the rubber boat is also a small inflatable boat. There are so many inflatable boats in the market that we have so many names, such as inflatable fishing boats, inflatable rubber boats, inflatable boats, inflatable boats, rafts, submachine boats, boat boats, canoeing, banana boats and so on. All in all, these are one species, that is, inflatable boats. Here are five basic differences between inflatable boats and rubber boats.

not to mention mud motors are loud, and scare the fish.
