Just cruising through videos, and this one caught my eye. What I can see is the solution should be an aluminum channel upside down, bolted, or welded to the intake right plate. The log or stick would hit the plate and the channel would protect the reverse plate. Also, when you’re not under power, the channel edges would give you a little bit of Rutter. Yes, it would be a drag a little bit and maybe cut down a mile an hour but what you’re trying to do is have a reliable boat that can go places no one else can. Just a thought. That’s what I would do.
Well either way with a prop or a jet drive with those said conditions you’re going to choke the prop regardless because of the vegetation unless you get some kind of guard to stop it from being pulled in all you need to do then is shut it off and clean the screen as you would in a jet ski
I wonder why they dont build the reverse gate to go up on top in foward like a pwc does? and down for reverse? instead of on bottom. I think I would build my own cam and cable position and reengineer it. BTW im 35 year boat and pwc mechanic. I also dont understand why they use a water/pump impeller? Why not use the jets thrust to feed cooling water like a pwc does. Never see overheating on pwc's I have but rare.
im planning on cutting a tunnel into my 1654 jon, so I can repower with a jet outboard. I was going to use a jack plate to get the correct height. Do you recommend extending the tunnel back to get it closer to the shoe? If so, how closet's the front of the shoe do I want the back of my tunnel to be?
When looking at a 150hp vs 200hp outboard. Ive heard some guys say that anything over 150hp with a jet pump there isnt much of an advantage due to the amount of water that can be moved through the jet pump. What are your thoughts on this? Would a 200hp obj be worth it over a 150hp obj ?
My jet has been coming out if forward and into neutral when hitting about a quarter throttle. The bolt isn't sitting all the way in the cam slot like the little caution label states thus not locking it in forward. When water hits it it throws into neutral. Any help on how to fix this issue at home?
Ive been bashing my 225 HP Yammy jetfoot for 12 years and nothing yet. Ive seen others rip off there intake foot and reverse gate. The leaves in the fall are my biggest gripe, lol Thanks for the vid bud!
Thanks for the videos. I have an outboard pump that when I go to lube it with the jiffy luber, the grease seems to get stuck. Nothing is coming out the tube, no water but no grease. Any idea what that might be?
Gotta initially push that thumb pumper hard with both fingers, make sure the fitting is on and straight. Keep Squeezing the tube while pumping if nothing is coming out it’s not going in. Grease will come out. Cheers
Had an ice bag shut me down going across Lake Texoma one time. Sticks and leaves can slowly shut you down but an ice bag shuts you down right now !!
Just got a 20x72 6 degree V with 150 jet. Thanks for the videos. Made my wait easier and I learned a lot from ‘em.

Here in Michigan steelhead fishing in November-April…it’s the throttle cable freezing…and trust me it’s annoying AF!!!
Yeah I could see that.
Add a little wd40 to it. That should prevent it from freezing

thanks for the tips! im having a current issue of my shift lever not wanting to go into reverse. hopefully its something loose.
Thank you for share
Thank you boss for the information👍
I know you've been gone every weekend, so where are the videos? ;)

I agree with everything you said.

I wonder why they didn't put all that business on top?
Take rev gate completely off ive never needed rev. All four of my moose boats forward only. And happy no breaks since
Reverse is a must for me between running throw lines and frog gigging
Heard that beforw haha ok.
Yeah I did the same removed my reverse bucket it was a pain when you hit rocks

If nothing is coming out of the jiffy luber squeeze it and pump it until it gets a prime. Then stick it on the pump.
What do you have over the intake foot on your jet?
That’s a Rock Ejector
what does "trimmed up" mean?
While running on plane having the motor running at its highs point without sucking air.
@@DennisBohannan when these things are trimmed down... does the bow still come up at full throttle?
Hello how much does a 25hp of used mercuris cost
❤️
How much that jet coast?
How are you sir?
Doing well
ditch the clam shell and linkage. You have two options, full on or stop running a jet.
I run throw lines got to have the reverse. Now just to ride yeah.
Ned that gate on top not bottom .
Agree 100 percent
What’s a website I can buy some of the reverse gate parts
Outboardjets.com it's a old website and you have to call to order
Hey just go the easy way just cut it off
I need my reverse. It would be much simpler without.
Ive never needed rev.
