Tight security seems to more naturally accepted and all around in Philippine malls. Guards consistently roaming around not just on entrances and when you enter a mall in the Philippines, no one bats an eye when guards require that they inspect your bags before you can enter because everybody knows it's for everyone's security. In America people would probably consider that a violation of someone's privacy rights.
Plus the guards in Philippines are respected while most Americans look down of them, calling them "Rent-a-Cop"
there are floor walkers in America too
America got to much individuals rights over community safety . Thats why there's more crimes are committed in the malls
@@averymathieu Unfortunately most rent-a-cop that walk around malls in the US don't even have or aren't allowed to carry fire arms with them because property owners are scared of liability BS, they rely on cops that are near the mall to respond to situations. Guards with no fire arms feels like a guard dog with no teeth, all bark no bite.
Mall guards that I saw in the Philippines are armed with light fire-arms even though there are also cops stationed at the entrances. This doesn't even include the guard on each of the stores on the mall. Yes, some stores in the PH malls have their own armed security guards just for their stores. Sometimes you can spot 2 mall guards roaming in pairs and 1 of them carrying a shotgun which I saw a couple when I went to MoA(Mall of Asia) last year. Someone needs to tell these guards to chill. 😄
Too many "Karen's " in America.
Malls in the Philippines are really something else. They have it all. Spa, Clinics, Churches, Bookstores, Restaurants, Playground, Cinema, Gym, etc. Sometimes you'll run out of time before you even run out of options. 😅
SM really took the "We got in all" mantra and now our nearby my have schools, BPOs, etc. Still no skating rink tho.
Don’t forget the arcades!😁 Timezone alone blows away any, if any you can find here in malls in the States (esp Cali where I live☹️)
@@nunyabiznes33 There IS a skating rink in Mall Of Asia.
Agree.
Our SM Mall here up north (Baguio) has a parking capacity of about a thousand, but during the weekend (specially long weekends) good luck finding one lol. 😅
im just wondering. how come other countries thats far more rich than ph cant do the same thing? filipino here btw.
Malls in Southeast Asia are complete ecosystems. It’s so hot everywhere so we need a place we can do everything, no rain and no sunburn.
“Malls in SEA are complete ecosystems”… I couldn’t have put it any better 😌👌
@@KRYUSEI1121 You will never see a sea if you're not even remotely somewhat close to it even if the country is surrounded by a body of Water also mall's in the Philippines is everywhere it's not hard to find them because there's so many of them with different name's sometimes 2 malls are facing each other
I really wonder if they ever got the amount of customer's that they wanted 🤔
@@kinglolmon6453 if those malls are located right beside train stations and transit hubs, they all get foot traffic.

FYI Filipino architects and interior designers are highly sought after in Singapore, AUSTRALIA. Dubai, Europe and Hong Kong
agree. i know veteran architects who designed a lot of the modern buildings and skyscrapers today in hong kong ang singapore.
Thailand too
Great architecture there!
It's such a sad reality, Philippines produces plenty highly competent professionals yet it remains a 3rd world country because corrupt & greedy officials continually get elected, which then leads to said professionals choosing to leave the country.
I Don’t understand why USA and Canada “finance” ministers can’t hire Filipino and Thai architects to design shopping malls in their own soils 😮😮😮
malls here are tempting,, even if you don't have plans to buy, the 'feel good' vibe makes you wanna spend haha
That's the point! haha
They're purposely designed for that reason
Multiplied if you're with friends
that's the freaky thing about it, LMAO. Incentivized to use the natural peer pressure in your group, and takes advantage of a Filipino's highly social culture.
@@jayzenstyle well, if it makes the community more alive and vibrant, I approve! haha
hello from Brooklyn NY I've been saying for years to people there's nothing like a Filipino mall, The energy and the way they have it set up is so like watching a movie, American malls are pretty much like a shoebox
Plus american mall especially in utah, always watch u back😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂
I used to work in NJ. Many malls are closed by 5 pm on Sundays. I dozed one time because of tiredness and a guard approached and woke me up. I can't believe they look at you even while seated.
Brian! It was amazing to have run into you yesterday! It was truly my lucky day! I have been following you ever since you started vlogging....and it has been my dream to meet you in person now that I am in BGC visiting from Seattle! Thank you so much for mentioning our encounter yesterday in this vlog! You are even more amazing in person - I could feel your honesty, your warmth, your happy self....thank you once again for sharing these vlogs....like what I mentioned to you during our brief in-person chat, I used your vlogs as my tour guide! By far the malls in the 🇵🇭 area absolutely above all some of the best in the world! Thanks for sharing! 👌🏾👍🏾
As a born U.S. citizen who built our home in the Philippines, the reason malls suck in America is due to crime, culture, lack of innovative retailers, labor cost, regulations, material cost, rents, short term mindset on returns to shareholders and a whole host of factors.
Malls here are packed and stay away on the weekends.
Also governmental agencies use the malls too.
However, it’s a more dynamic and disciplined market without gang bangers and violent crime, compared to America.
We are have security guards checking everyone entering and extremely friendly.
Americans would be too obsessed with their alleged individual rights.
I agree, but more on too much regulations and labor cost
I agree with you. Malls in the philippines way better than here in new york city..
@@NEVERSTOPEXPLORING18I mean NYC is a better experience than the majority of other cities in the South and Western part of US except for the crime and homelessness that plagued the city other than that it’s a fun walkable city and convenient too, I visited the South and it was exhausting that we had to have a car to have a experience and the experience was so lame cause their malls are smaller than NYC and everything i saw was parking lots, concrete roads, and small lifeless fast food restaurants that have the same designs, atleast it was safer and barely any homeless people but dam that place was just lifeless
If anyone ever try those shop raids in the PH, they'd summarily get thrown to the ground by the security guards - they're fully vested in arresting someone even if they are not formal police officers. That's because security agencies are discretely owned/managed by ex generals of the PNP. It will take you months to get a bail hearing as well so good luck getting stuck in a jail cell with heaven knows who.
Nah, the main reason isn't such nebulous whatevers but simple urban planning. Most malls in the Philippines embed themselves into the public transport system. They are often either at bus stations, jeepney stops, train terminals, or in walkable spaces between some combination of the three. This is unlike the car-centric urban scheme found in the US and means that Philippine malls can always rely on a steady stream of commuters and foot traffic. This reliable supply of people has the knock-on effect of making it much more economical for malls to hire more guards, share and pool resources with public transport officials, make the interior design look more appealing to passers-by, innovate and experiment among sellers, etc. This approach also means that malls are often seen as a much less risky bet from the perspective of owners here in the Philippines than in the US and the culture and environment reflects that. Sellers are much more willing to open their purses so the mall is much more willing to open _their_ coffers; all because the average commuter is much more likely to impulse buy on his way to or from work as a result of smart urban planning.
Even with the advent of online shopping here in the Ph, people would love to visit the malls every once in a while coz of events , foods or simply watching people enjoying other people's company.
All that you said were true! We moved here to one small city in South Carolina and my kids are terribly bored! Having lived in Dubai and the Philippines, we can only compare this small city to Dubai and Manila and sometimes we are asking ourselves if we made the right decision. It’s like we were already in 2024 and came back to 1980 here 😢. There is not a single modern mall, shops are scattered everywhere… walking is not a culture here, a car is a must and public transport is a no no, if it even exist! Oh how i miss Grab there and walking around. Customer service is also lacking… restaurants are dirty especially the toilets… heck even hospitals are not that tidy! And can I just say that prices are so high and everything is taxed and if you dine in a restaurant tipping is a must for non existing customer service! I am just looking forward to retire in the philippines one day…
Bruh, its South Carolina, heck if you wanna be really bored go to Missouri,or anywhere in the Midwest,America is just freaking huge,North Carolina has more people but that means the cost of living is more expensive. But both states are a sports state all year round, right now,its busy with baseball,NFL,College football, this are freaking football crazy states. Most Filipios lived in the West Coasts, namely California,Oregon or Washington. You usually move to North and South Carolina when you're retiring, when its time to slow down, you moved to this places like Kansas,Tennessee.

As a Pilipino myself, malls in the Philippines are thriving just like the ones in Europe, and the Americans are dying because of its location. Our malls are very accessible by public transportation or private cars. Secondly it's very convenient it has almost all what you need to do, may it be doing some government transaction, going to a doctor or dentist, spa, or even have your dialysis, going to church or in some malls visiting a museum.
Zoning laws in the US doomed malls and even other businesses since they're located far from residential areas. When last we visited the US in 2001, we have drive way out just to get to where we can buy things. Here in the Philippines we have maximize every area since compared to the US, land area in the Philippines isn't that much. That's why malls and businesses are close to residential areas. Plus malls here have everything. There are shops, restaurants, even dental clinics and parlors. Security is also a thing in businesses here. Even 7-11 have guards.
Malls were never a European thing.
@@Milliardo5don't forget the chapels. Malls in the Philippines also have a unique service where they offer a place for christians to worship not just on Sundays but also on weekdays after work. One could come from the office and stop by a mall chapel to pray or attend mass before heading home. Events venues in malls can also be rented out for protestant church service and activities.
Malls in Europe??
Man, at least know how to spell Filipino....
You forgot to mention there are Masses (Catholic) at the Malls on Sunday. It really is amazing! I can’t wait to visit again.
Love your poetic presentations. Your Sub in NY.
I have visited the Philippines twice this year and yes the malls are a whole new experience.
Been out of Phil for >20 yrs and so much progress and changes happened in manila. So amazing to visit again. Here in US malls are all dead and nobody much enjoy going to malls unlike there. Its the culture make this vibrant places live long and same as Filipino traits.
The malls in the USA is just outdated. No comparison bet the Philippines and USA. The mall in the Philippines are just amazing.
No vandalism either. We might be poorer compared to the USA but are happier than them.
Agree 💯
Are there still malls in the US? When I moved to Houston in the mid-90s, there were countless malls all over the city. Now all of them were closed since years ago except the Galleria and a lot of store paces are closed. Americans have become anti-social, they don't seek human interactions anymore, they are content staying in their homes all day long where they don't even go out and talk to their neighbors.
💯!!!!
The Philippines is newly developed. Mall is no longer popular in the U.S.
Sure. Tell that to an attractive girl in a slum in the Philippines. They are happier because they have a smile on their face? BS. Ask them about sexual harassment from all the men in the slum, including their own siblings. Don't judge a book by it's cover.
I don't know how you do it and where you get these amazing notes and poetic description of the places you walk about.....glad to share.....
Thank you Brian. I’m 65 and as a teenager in the 70s, I already enjoyed going to malls. My dad used to bring me and my siblings to the cinema. We watched Hollywood movies.
Come to Festival Mall Alabang. It's bigger than the malls in BGC, and it has two amusement parks inside, one for kids and one for kids at heart. It also has a train inside, two-storey carousel, a chapel, and riverside water garden, where you'll truly feel part of a community
Been there last Feb with wife and baby and everything you said are definitely on goddamn point!
Once you step inside the Mall back there, it feels really different. Like its alive. Here back home is like ghost town for the majority of the malls (Thanks Bezos). And not to mention every stores do have a lot of retail workers that will assist you right away, and with a big smile in their faces. Cannot wait to be back, need to save my pto's to be there again. lol
One reason is that malls in the Philippines serve as meeting places for group gatherings. When we want to celebrate something without cooking at home, the aesthetic appeal of the location makes it perfect for taking beautiful photos. Malls are also popular for family gatherings on weekends, as families often prefer to spend time outside rather than at home. After attending church mass, many families go to the mall for lunch. That’s why there are so many restaurants inside and outside of the malls, offering a variety of dining options for everyone.
Yeah, malls are more than just shops where people go in buy whatever they came in for and go out. It's the ideal hangout for families and friends. People go in, walk around, have a good time, grab a nice meal, etc.
THE MALLS IN PHILIPPINES DOESN'T CONCERNED WHO WILL BUY THE ITEMS BUT THEY PRIORITIZE HOW PEOPLE COULD ENJOY STAYING IN THE MALL
AS FAMILY OR GROUPS
NOT JUST SHOP TO GET PEOPLE MONEY THEY CONSIDER PEOPLE COMFORTABLE STAY .
Exactly, thank you
The concept is simple: Get people to stay in the mall, increase the chances they'll buy something. If any place in America understands this concept, it's Vegas. Not for the malls, but the casinos. Same reason why casinos are big here. Well that, and the fact that Chinese nouveau riche come here to gamble away their crypto winnings.
The RUclips algorithm has blessed me today by showing this video. I got goosebumps all over listening to your monologue about local malls that is so freaking reminiscent of the late Anthony Bourdain. Edgy, funny, no-nonsense, straight to the point and full of substance. Looking forward to watching your future videos! Hopefully I randomly bump into you when I am in the BGC area.

I mean, we have online stores here too like the very popular Lazada and Shopee in place of services like Amazon Prime, eBay, etc. It's convenient, sure but imo nothing beats going out of the house for a bit. I think it's more of our family-oriented bonding thing where we go out to places to just hang around at or just to get a quick bite at. It always feels like a treat to go out to malls here just to maybe get away from mundane things like work or school for a bit.
Sweet words there Brian, warms every heart who would hear it... Thank you for choosing Philippines.
always very eloquently put 👍👍👍 on my way in a couple of weeks😃
You nailed it Brian!!! The mall culture here works in the Philippines because of the perfect combination of commercialism and community! Just look at how many international franchises are there. IKEA knew what they were doing when they built their largest store there. Now you have Tesla, Disney Store, Dave & Busters just to name a few discovering this emerging, dynamic market! ❤️🇵🇭💥
Mall culture works in our country because there's nowhere else for people to go. Unless you're in manila, we have very few museums, very few good parks, almost no public libraries, almost no community centers, nowhere for people to go hang out without having to spend money. So where else would people go but to the mall?
The mindset of the Filipinos has changed. The way we interact socially has changed. Anyways there are still open parks you can free to roam for a minimal cost. But you have brave the humidity. La Mesa Eco Park and Quezon City Circle in QC. Rizal park, Luneta, Intramuros. The Roxas blvd baywalk. You coluld also visit Ayala Musuem in Makati or the National Museum in Manila. There are others being rehabilitated along the pasog river. All is not yet lost.
Now this is how you describe it! Very specific, very detailed, very mindful...thank you so much♥️🇵🇭 you made me hit that subscribe button.
Mall operators in the PH are smart, you can see Green Hills figured things out early in the game. GH figured that inorder to compete & succeed they need to expand their indoor parking-lots and focus their investments on parking structures. it paid off. both customers and tenants are happy to come to Greenhills and their malls until today. soon after.. all mall developers made indoor parking structures a priority in developing malls in the Philippines.
Yes your right no mall in America compares to the malls in the Philippines
Thank you for promoting our country and appreciating its beauty. I hope your stay will be longer and that you will see other parts of it. I'll cheer to that. If I may also promote some local beers, try it.
Malls here are designed to be an escapist distraction for people living in pretty much hard mode. So you go to the mall to feel a bit of luxury.
Absolutely true. Malls in the Philippines is lively better than in America. I think in america nobody businessman want to invest in malls like what we have here in the Philippines. America is moving backward not moving forward.

Just came back from my vacation there and I miss the malls already esp The Podium! What a beautiful mall among many!
I visited denmark. There were few malls in copenhagen but only few are shopping in malls....they have kiosks everywhere...it is a small like stores like 711 or for boutiques etc...
I usually don't watch your videos but I love to listen to your poetic lines and funny descriptions of things, like it makes me laugh.😂
SOME PEOPLE THINK MALL IS FOR RICH AND WITH MONEY ALONE BUT THE REAL REASON IS HOW PEOPLE CAN BE LIKE PARK TO STAY , REST and FEEL LIKE PART OF THEIR HOME.
I’ve been to more malls across America than you can imagine, and none have security or pleasant workers like the 🇵🇭💯🗣️
malls in the Philippines are like those in Singapore and Dubai.. we love diversity, consumption, activities and a lot more from our malls.. it's a whole new experience.. we have a lot of malls and we want them colorful, fun and big.. 🤩

For me I think America is moving more into the strip malls instead because of the high % of online shopping. Here in asia the malls are still a hang out place unlike in the US. I came from Michigan and malls there are kinda dead. Did most of shopping online or in Nordstrom rack, TJ maxx etc.. which are stand alone stores in the middle of nowhere
Bro Brian, I like your eye, your picturesque language, ... and your message to the Filipino !!
I agree. I have been to Malls here in America and Malls in the Philippines. Malls in the Philippines are way way better than here in America. I think Malls are part of the culture in the Philippines. It is the way of life there. It is a one stop shop there. People hang out whether you are rich or poor so it is important for Business to present well. Food Court is ridiculous there. It is day and night compared to here in America.
It is sad to note that some malls in Metro Manila is better than some mall in some cities in the U.S.A. When in fact the the mall in Manila is located in a third world country like the Philippines. I just wonder why some mall in the U.S.A. is deteriorating instead of moving forward. Since it is in a first world country. Perhaps the reason is many Americans are not really interested to go to the mall. Instead they're more interested to go to some places like going to the beaches and national parks.
@AndresBalete-t6n I think the very reason is the labor costs. It is very expensive to maintain a mall like in the Philippines in America.
@@AndresBalete-t6n going to parks and beaches is actually better than going to malls. But going to malls is cheaper in the Philippines, and features air-conditioning which is a big plus in a tropical country.
The malls in the US during the 90s were quite good, but died out when online shopping came around.

From a different perspective, most commercial establishments in the Philippines, such as restaurants and retail stores, are concentrated in malls, where rental spaces are often dominated by a few large conglomerates. In contrast, the U.S. has a more balanced landscape, with small business owners also occupying smaller malls or standalone locations, often owning or leasing properties independently. This indicates a more equitable distribution of wealth in the U.S., as opposed to the significant economic disparity seen in the Philippines.
However, if the focus is solely on aesthetics and mall design, the Philippines is certainly keeping pace and will not fall behind.
This is an overlooked negative side of having big shopping malls that I totally agree with. I am filipino and as much as I can be proud that we have a vibrant mall culture, the fact that small business owners are being squashed and overrun by these big private corps remains to be seen. Almost all provinces and cities in Ph have SM. The only province I know that have the capacity to put up a big mall like sm BUT REFUSED TO and still refusing to is Ilocos Norte. Yes they have a new Robinsons mall but not quite as big as the ones you usually see like SM. I bet their local officials do understand what it would do to their small business sector once an SM is put up. I do applaud that.
I was in the Philippines last November 2024 around the time you uploaded your video, mostly Ortigas and I stay in Seattle for school. I miss home!
Here in ohio you can put the mall here inside the mall in the philippines😂

I love that mentioned that humidity part. yeah, ac is really heaven sent
You are 100% giving the accurate information about malls in the Philippines. Comparing to malls in the US and Europe, Philippine malls are way better ❤❤
the mall experience in the Middle east especially Dubai, SEA in Singapore and Philippines hits differently. they offer so much and the malls just pop with life plenty of visitors and workers happily interacting. Life is hard but we shouldn't lose the human connection.
As an Architecture graduate, malls in Asia, South East Asia, especially Philippines the reason why malls here looks nothing like in the West, is to attract and make people feel comfortable and to "buy more" stuff... the more luxurious or fun and vibrant interior mall are the better to attracts more costumers... the dramatic lighting warm makes people comfy feel relaxed, the unwinding pathways like maze are way to make people browse more stores inside the mall that creates "spending more time" to shopping. And then Air-condition in the malls is intentional. the Philippines 🇵🇭 is a hot 🔥 and humid so its a way to escape the heat outside and it means people spend more money inside just to cool off. It's malls strategy to make more customers spend more money inside the mall here and creates more quality time. Family gatherings, Events, concerts, Government registration and etc gov. Related and even Church Mass are done inside this Malls its a more of a ALL IN ONE Destination that everybody can go too and afford.
@LifeOfZamboanga yeah that too
My Aunt stayed here in the US for 20 years because of her kids here. When they went to college, she decided to come back to visit. Now, my family came here in the US in the early 2000’s, so we were kids. The malls back then were just standard malls. When my Aunt came back here in the US, she told us about how she went in mall where there was a church inside the mall. Like, you can go in at the crack of dawn, attend mass, go have breakfast in the mall, shop, go to a spa, have lunch, and dinner as well. They literally didn’t even the mall until the mall was about to close. 😂
😢 the mall here in my city needs resucitation. It's dying! It's still useful though because old folks like me use it for walking exercises indoor! JC Penny still survives while others were long gone!
That is the main reason I use malls here in the Philippines..

Here in New Jersey, Burlington Mall was demolished and replaced it with a warehouse. So sad, many business & workers have to look for another opportunity.
I live here in the US and is Filipino born. We have been to many, many malls. My family and myself, this is our favorite pass time. Texas, NY, LA. Nothing beats Filipino malls and my daughter agrees to! There is living energy in these places and are true one stop shop where you can do, shop and eat almost anything you can think of.
People in the Philippines don't carry AR 15. Here in United States, you constantly thinking when is the next shooting is going to happen. That's probably one reason why half of the businesses at the mall are closed.
😢😢
Scary😢🙏 Thank God we feel safe inside our malls, esp. bcoz our church is in the mall🥰

We have a condo in the Magnolia Robinson beside a a mall. On regular days other than weekends, not a lot of people are in the mall. But on weekends the mall is full of people. I live in Maryland where the mall are slowly dying. The ones that are open are no match for the malls there in the Philippines. I agree what you're saying about malls. The humidity in the Philippines is a break for the humidity. Amazon Prime is also available in the Philippines

Customer service is amazing in malls. Trying to find something but it's not available in the shop? The employees will point you in the direction of their own competitors who might have. Trying to go to one place? Sure, no problem. Just ask the Guard or any other employee for that matter on where it is.
Iloilo SM City has one of, if not the floor plans. There's a section of the mall for everything without you having to wander too far. There's a food hall in the second floor and food court in the underground if no one can decide on which place to eat. A tech floor dedicated to consoles, pc, smartphones and mobile carriers. There's so much planning going into it that if you're wealthy, you could even own a condo just across the parking lot of the mall. Not to mention how close other malls are like Festive Walk, and soon even Mega World.
What a unique style you got here! This is a vlog plus some dose of philosophizing, combined and simultaneous.. This is good stuff. Walk around eastwood next time, then opus mall, then podium, then rockwell, then atc, then sm aura … i don’t know if you have already covered those places coz i’m new to your channel. U got +1 sub here. Keep it up!
Online everything, theft and smash and grab issues, mediocre choices, unenthusiastic and sometimes rude staff, especially in the fast food industry, outdated if not dilapidated infrastructure, high rent, and just the overall sad, depressing, and destitute vibe are some reasons that keep people from going to malls in the US
Real estate development is now focused on creating communities in a specific location. Developers build buildings to house both residential and commercial units for businesses so that people can work in the area where they live. And the malls are built beautifully to cater to this community who will need to relax, dine, shop, go to church, the dentist, the doctor, the spa therapist or chiropractor, and meet with friends and family over the course of a week, on repeat. After a long work week, it’s nice to unwind at the mall that’s just a few paces away from where you live 😊 no stress from traffic.
First, Portland OR is a liberal shithole. Good move. Second, get to nature and out of the mall and the 15 minute city. My wife is from php and I’m visiting there for 20 years. All over. Mabuhay 🎉
As an American retired in the Philippines for almost one year I can attest to the genuine hospitality of the Filipino people. It is really nice going places and getting greeted by smiles by total strangers for no reason other than them being friendly and inquisitive. This is my home now and I have no regrets whatsoever for picking the Philippines for my retirement.
they smile because they see a walking dollar bill!
@ You really have that problem anywhere in the world,I have never been a flashy person so blending in is very easy. Look at how Keanu Reeves does it.
Oh cool you’re from Portland? I live in Portland and I’m Filipino. I’m originally from Manila. I haven’t been home in more than 30 years so I’ve missed out on how amazing the malls are back home.
Philippines has likely pioneered the modern mall setup in SEA since ours go back between the 80's and 90's with the first being Ayala Malls, SM Megamall. Recently, most of the SEA countries I've been to had caught up with the same setup and they were all fairly new.
As a Filipino who grew up in the capital, malls are nice. But they are just money sink that will induce you into consumerism. Went away from BGC, got a house and lot away from the capital, and it is the best decision yet. It is quiet, the air is fresh, and neighbors are more connected with each other. You are not yet bored because it is a new experience for you, but once you see the shallowness of it all, you will yearn a simple life in the suburbs. Just like how your ancestors did.
To each his own. Some are city people, some like the countryside/province.
decades in ph. still looking forward to go to the mall every saturday or sunday.
if your in your 20"s or 30:s and live in the barrettos it can be very boring. Lack of good food, no decent wifi and nowhere to go and make social. No thanks pure boredom.Oh yea ifyour an expact, good luck finding people like your self to talk to.Boring!!!!
Hey Brian, I've been there and I love going to the Philippines.
Malls exist due to the lack of open spaces, parks, and walkability (expect for BGC). With that said, I hate mall culture lol. Good vid
Already a subscriber here.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
2 SM & 2 ayala malls here in cebu city are proudly big. It is giving cebuanos alternatives for shopping or just for leisure walk to unwind. Mabuhay !
BGC is just a small district in Taguig City. It has several malls like Ayala Market-Market, SM Aura Premier, shopping strips by Ayala Corp namely the high end Serendra and Bonifacio High Street, Central Square Mall and One Bonifacio High Street mall also by Ayala. There’s also Landmark, Uptown Mall, the one in video by Megaworld and the new Japanese mall named Mitsukoshi. This is just BGC alone lol and there’s already so much malls in that small area. I’ve been to Cebu City and I went to the main SM and the Ayala area that is being constructed there at the time. It is still very far from each other compared to BGC that everything is walking distance and this is just a small part of Taguig City (formerly Fort Bonifacio camp)
@@Raiya_ru17 Seems like you haven't visited SM Seaside. SM Seaside is the biggest in Cebu. Hope you can, next time
I just had my operation last Sunday in St. Lukes BGC and somehow stumbled on your vid. Your comments are so hilarious it almost burst my stiches. Anyway! Have fun, I like that place too! Everything is walkable and plenty of places I could just chill.
Heal quickly
Brian, my heart is broken. Can you heal me quickly? Please 😅@@Brian_The_Lion
We grew up watching American movies where the cool kids would all go hang out at the mall. We took that template and improved on it... A LOT!
Haha a sense that detects air conditioning! I Just pressed the subscribe button!
You have a talent for story telling. Good job! 🇵🇭
Mabuhay, Brian. I'm glad you enjoyed your experience here in the Philippines, examples are their malls.
Malls here are like Parks and SM took the motto "We got it all for you" too seriously. As such, they have churches, fastfood, government facilities, hospitals/medical wards, arcades, department stores for clothes, shoes (Trivia: Did you know that SM stands for ShoeMart? Henry Sy founded the SM franchise here in the Philippines as a Shoe store but evolved into a much bigger mall platform.), and grocery/marketplace (they have a butchery, produce, fishmonger, and many more to sell for your convenience).
Anyways, I hope you get to enjoy this Pearl of the Orient experience.
I’m here in Los Angeles area watching your blog about malls in Metto Manila. I agree with you malls here in California are not as extravagant as you see there in BGC. It’s actually a variety of restaurants and stores in various malls out there. In BGC there are 7 malls and considering its not really a big city, and a few kms away is Makati and Ortigas where there are now more malls all over the adjacent cities from BGC. Filipinos love spending time in the mall because of lots of restaurant choices and everything you think of buying is available if you try to find it and satisfy your needs. I was born and raised in Manila and spent most of the weekends visiting various malls for grocery and shopping for things I need. I left the Philippines in year 2000 to join my Filipino-American husband. I terribly missed my previous life in Manila when I got here and raised our son and worked so hard to make a living and be able to sustain our daily expenses and pay our bills. It’s not enough if only one of us will make income. Everything is more expensive now, 24 years later. I just hope we can retire soon and go back to the Philippines, our pension could somehow be enough to make us live comfortably and spend the rest of our lives with our family there. You’re lucky you can make a living out of your blogging and enjoy a happy life there. More power to your channel.
Try visiting Festival Mall in Alabang, it would be another shocking experience, as they have Amusement Park inside a mall.
certain malls are also directly connected to transport hubs and terminals. gateway malls 1 and 2 connects both cubao terminals of MRT and LRT line. trinoma is also connected to north ave MRT station. the daily foot traffic in these malls are huge and this is also advantageous because more ppl can be compelled to buy and shop. malls are equipped with AC and they'd rather walk there than step outside on the streets
Desperations over past experiences should not ruin life's present and future endeavors of brighter and happier life. Acceptance of things that can not be changed and develop and improve positive outlook in your life ahead. Bless all of us. ❤
