All politicians are corrupt, whether they are Filipino or not. There are worst politicians outside PH. We just happened to be controlled by other nations (such as your idol, the US) that is why we compromise a lot leading to corruption. If a politician refuse to be controlled, they will be marred by the MSM, even calling them corrupt. So this concept of corrupt PH is just made up by the MSM, and YOU are indoctrinated by this idea.

Me and my husband are already retired in US. Our income is more than enough to live in the Philippines. The development in the Philippines is too fast. We are planning to buy condo unit in the City and construct a vacation home in the province where we can find helpers to take care of us. US is too expensive for Seniors right now. Philippines is not third world anymore, the GDP in that Country is leading in South east Asia.

My advice for you and your sweet senior husband is to get him Philhealth first thing in philipinese then to have 10,000 US dollars 💵 untouched for medical emergency, in Philippines the medical care system has skin tax in place, your husband most like will be overcharged for every thing , if you manage to fly your husband out of Philippines to either Guwam or Vietnam, you will save 80% of what would you pay in philipinese for health care plus he will be treated in far better facilities than the one in Philippines, the medicen in Philippines is Crazy expensive, bring at least 3 months supply, in Philippines they really humiliate those who can’t afford their medical bills such as tie them to the bed and confiscate their passports and seized their assets , I am talking from experience, take care and God bless .

"third world" has been a very misused term... It really just originated from the world war, and third world just means any country that's not the allies or the axis. Germany isn't even "first world" in that definition.
"Developing country", as you say, is the correct economic descriptor. Poverty is in any country, at different levels and in different forms. So, honestly... Calling it in the classical "third world" which most people really mean is "under developed" like really really poor economically, is not even correct for the Philippines anymore.

The thing is, BGC is a place tailored specifically to cater to the rich and the foreigners. They keep everything as neat and clean as possible to give off the best impression, and they make sure the strays or homeless beggars that wonders in be relocated immediately lest they risk dirtying the eyes of the precious money dispensers. Sadly, the further away you go from BGC Center, the more you see the 3rd-world-ness of the city. 😢

BGC shouldn't be the Main basis of "being developed" as what described by foreigners. It's a small city in Manila, they don't showcase Filipino Culture ,restaurants and Cafe came from Western Influences, Italian Pasta ? Wolfgang Steak ? Ramen ? Where 's the filipino Spirit ?come on man .
Business owned by Foreign Corporations most of them at least . . It Is is created for " Consumerism " and Foreign Infrastructures which mostly foreign expats can benefit but Locals Can't even afford to live there (too expensive). Giving job to manilenos yes of course but Don't Say it represent Philippines because it's NOT .
Go to Province ,Cebu ,Davao, Siquijor ,Palawan,Ilocos,Mindanao ,Batangas etc. They represent Filipino Culture .
Observe the Way of living of locals this is where you measure if its developing or struggling .
Many parts of provinces has slow internet which is basic commodity of modern living nowadays . You get that in BGC but they don't cater to serve that in many Local Provinces. If everything makes sense .

Awesome Brian ! --- My small budget isn't quite enough for BGC - as a US expat - alone & looking for a comfortable place to retire over there. $600 for rent is much too close to 40% of my budget - not recommended or desirable ? > Whereas -- $320 for a fully furnished studio in Eastwood City suits my budget much better @ 20% !!! 🤔 A bit less chaotic for me as an old man - but still has everything needed for comfort - in a smaller space ? 🤗 Yet -- BGC is but 5 miles away (?) certainly close enough for some visits anytime ?!? - - - ALL of 'this' really puts the US to shame now in most places of the country. Even Las Vegas has a significant homeless issue and safety concerns at night -- while the prices are very high now ! - - - You are 100% correct in your perceptions (!) -- so simply enjoy it !!!

I live in the province, development here is slower than in the capital BUT newer infrastructure and constructions of business centers are unstoppable, faster than it was 20 years ago. I know many channels are dedicated to hate and slander of the Philippines, and most of them have just overrated portrayal of our negatives like "Philippines is like 100 years behind Thailand", "Philippines is probably the poorest ASEAN country if WW2 didn't happen", "Filipinas only want your money", "Philippines is for poor tourists", etc. Things that make us laugh cinsidering these people have no idea how it's like to live here. Not a paradise for now economically, but generally improving and has tons of natural wonders.

The philippines is NOT a poor country. What the PH has is a poverty problem. There is a very huge discrepancy between poor and rich. The rise of the middle class alleviates this but it won't be enough until the nation's growth will be inclusive. The problem is even if the the GDP is one of the fastest growing worldwide, the benefits are not felt by the people living at the bottom of society. So while the PH is not a poor country by any means, it certainly has a glaring "poverty" problem.

I mean, if you’re in poverty and you also produce three children, you’re all the more in poverty because you can’t really afford those three children . Just look at the Filipino illegitimacy birth rate.. it’s skyrocketing which keeps poverty stricken girls in poverty trying to make ends meet with their Filipino ethics on pamilya .

Philippines is a developing country. Im sure here in the Philippines there are some area that extremely poor and living in poverty but i have been to the United States and i have seen poverty’s in big cities. There are over 100k homeless people in New York living in poverty.

@@stevem437 i was born and raised in the Philippines. Manila is one of the densely populated places in the world. People lived in cramped and compact housing unit but there are a lot of nicer and safer places in Metro Manila also. I used to work in BGC at night.
